A moment of silent for all those in retail this holiday season.

Attention all customers: our store will be closing in five minutes. If you are present in the store after closing you will be hunted for sport.
Just heard a customer two aisles over go “Hey, I think this is that special glass that doesn’t shatter when you drop it” followed by the sound of shattering glass. I hate retail.
I don’t want to live any longer in this world of “the customer is always right.” This is a world that shows the aggressive, the bull-headed, the cruel that they have full license to behave like beasts to get what they want. Half the time, they’re even rewarded for it; “here, ma'am, so sorry for the trouble, please accept this gift card–no charge.”
I want to live in a world that punishes these childish adults as you punish a toddler throwing a tantrum. No candy for you, Jimmy; you’re going home to bed if you can’t mind yourself in public.
Throw a hissy fit because your cashier isn’t moving as fast as you’d like? Find yourself gently escorted from the store until you can show some basic compassion and patience.
Hurl a pen across the table at your signing agent? You’ve just forfeited your right to refinance your mortgage this week. Try again when your temper is managed.
Scream obscenities at the Taco Bell rep because you know it’ll earn you a free soft shell? Here’s your money back; please feel free to play again when you’ve realized fast food is not worth more than the price of human dignity.
I am so sick of accepting–and, in truth, rewarding–these callous behavior patterns in customer service industries. The fact is, the customer is not always right. The customer is often just testing to see what he can get away with. Stop pandering to spoiled children, and show your employees they have more value than their red polo, or how much abuse they can withstand in a 40-hour week.
We are here to provide a service and to make a living.
We are not your punching bags.
seems like the right time of year to bring this back around
What follows is a very bitter text that I sent my little sister at two in morning.
"I just calculated how many hours I work this week... 54. Which means that if it was all at one job i should get 14 hours of overtime (paid at about 15$ an hour). Over the course of those 14 hours I'm losing about 75$ because I'm working two jobs instead of one. Just... grrr... why is finding a single full time job so hard?! Well actually I can tell you why. It's because employers don't wanna pay for all the stuff that comes with full time, like medical insurance. It also means that I can work up to 78 hours a week without getting a cent of overtime. Capitalism, and the corporate selfishness that comes with it, is so maddening! Also I hate everything right now, but you probably don't give a fuck about my socialist whining. So, sweet dreams little sister. In a few years you too will know the pain of being exploited by a system that doesn't give a fuck about you except to ask how much money you can make it. Enjoy your childhood bliss while you can."
I get kinda bitter and philosophical when my mental health starts to go down hill. And I have no friends so my sister gets an earful.
This is all from one woman. Tried on shoes for an hour and a half didn't put a single box back. This is actually after I picked them all up and put the shoes back in their boxes. They were all scattered around her stool.
I watched a man do this. He called me over and spoke to me while he did it. He unfolded the shirts and stuffed them back into the shelf. How can you have so little consideration for other people?
