"Hey, hey, psst- Is this where the dead people are?"
The voice made him jump. He didnât scream or anything, but he jumped, and as he swirled around to face the woman before him, stood in the middle of his morgue, he cried out, âwhat are you doing in my morgue?!â
It was more so out of defence- and maybe shock- but he made sure he hid the emotions well on his face.
reticentassistant:
At the remark, he frowned more so, as some sort of attempt at rebelling. Not that he was fantastic at rebelling, he just looked extremely moody, âI donât smile, I donât have a reason to.â
In response to the wink, however, he had to look away; now that kind of interaction was definitely something he was foreign to. SoâŠwhat he wouldnât allow himself to see wouldnât bother him, right?
âThen maybe you need to find one,â She held out her hand and smiled genuinely, âWhy donât you come join me for a walk or something? Itâll be good for you to get out.â
She noted how he turned away which was actually kind of amusing. Sheâd been kidding, of course, but it seemed like heâd taken it seriously. Oh well!
âGo out? You mean into the world?â He replied, raising an eyebrow, âtoo scary, I think I should return to my morgue. Itâs nice and cold there.â
He turned on his heel, beginning to leave. He couldnât help the slight panic rising in his chest, though, as he was certain she would come and drag him out. Although, he supposed going outside wouldnât hurt himâŠ
âReally?â She didnât exactly grab him and pull him out into the great outdoors, but she didnât just leave either.
Trailing after him she frowned, âIf you never try anything youâre scared of youâll never get anywhere in life. If youâre really too anxious I donât want to drag you out and give you a panic attack, but hey-â She stopped and put her hands on her hips, âGotta man up one day or another. May as well be today.â
He sighed, watching her carefully, âI wonât have a panic attack, donât worry, but will myself leaving the morgue please you?â
Because in all honesty, it seemed letting her have her fun would benefit him more than declining her of it. He then added, under his breath, âand Iâm man enough as it isâŠ.â
âYes, it will,â She snickered and offered him her hand, âCome on! Itâll be fun. We can go visit the bakery or something. Itâs unhealthy to stay caged up in a musty place full of dead people like you are right now.â
Sheâd help him see that the world was one big treasure hold ready for exploring. It was best to make use of every second you had now or else life would pass by in the blink of an eye bringing regret along with it. Heâd see in time.
He tried to nod in appreciation, asking as he wondered her intentions, "why are you doing this for me? It's....rather kind."
He'd never really had many people show him kindness.
