The national holiday and Inaugural Ceremony made Monday a major day for those of us in the U.S. Not to mention, we’re digging the short week. Now it’s almost Friday and we’re feeling Cherokee’s track “Sable Doux” as a warm-up to the weekend. Like the strides and setbacks of the day-to-day, politicking whether you like it or not, and just about any of life’s routines, this smooth mix is all about rise and fall, build and release, as it alternates between intervals of calm and swells of bass. Like the ebb and flow of the tide, which, fittingly, is featured in the intro and throughout the track. Twice a month with Retroism, we’ll be kicking off the weekend to break up your weekly grind and take the Lower East Side arts crowd from downtempo chill to uptempo dancing through the night.
