Scream queen Delainey Hayles 😱
I have my own issues with the season and the writing but I also have eyes and a brain that works well enough to understand 95% of the choices made this season and those i don't understand are partly due to my own bias of what i want for the characters i like
Also, perhaps this is my personal perception of it, but i've always felt like the writers are taking inspiration from the books, so not really ever adapting them as a one to one from the material but instead making a version of the story that they feel is interesting and that works for the screen. Once you realize that, you might be less likely to be bothered by changes they've made from the books. But again, maybe that's just me!
So much of what the audience loves about this show was never in the source material so i'm confused as to why now is the time people are choosing to be book purists in a way that doesn't let them enjoy anything the show is giving them
Hey and btw i respect most opinions but fuuuuuuck you if you ever implied or expected louis would have a physically sexual relationship with regina
The way people are fully lying on jacob's name right now is really rubbing me the wrong way... so many people with negative opinions about the season and the finale are now using him, delainey and assad to further their arguments and i find that to be quite odd.
I've seen actors on shows they did not want to be a part of or talking about writing they did not like and i truly don't think jacob anderson would voluntarily praise and praise the collaborative process of iwtv/tvl if he were as unhappy as people keep saying he is. I assure you, after many years of watching bad tv and their actors talking about it, most people genuinely do not stand there and sing praise every time they're asked about a project they're unhappy with.
I also saw somebody say he didn't even want to do s3 which is just not true so that's #odd idk i wish people could just criticize things normally instead of using actors, especially actors of color, as a tool or a shield when they don't like something about the media they're consuming. It's very weird to me to paint these actors as victims, almost claiming that they're not allowed to be heard in their workplace. Why would you assume this? Why do you immediately believe they are being mistreated and silenced? Well respected actors that have been so vocal about the positive experiences they've had working with these creatives but you want to say people need to speak up for them? As though they would not do that for themselves? I wish a lot of people would analyze these things a little more before making those claims, and think about how harmful this narrative is.
And this is of course not to say that these writers are perfect or even that the cast is, but at least show enough respect to the grown professional adults you're trying to "defend" by giving them this label of victimized person of color that isn't respected or heard because they're not white. Genuinely think about that. Voice your criticisms as much as you like, of course the writing and the season were not perfect, but do not use these actors and weaponize their race to justify your hatred or further your arguments for choices you did not agree with, please look inward.

Interview with the Vampire (2.08) | The Vampire Lestat (3.05)
"He treats us like shit and you take it! Why is that?" — S0105
"Doesn't sound like him?" Oh, forgot! Love makes you stupid! Makes you fickle and weak and blind! Let me guess, he's your companion finally? Well, good for fucking you! [...] Picked another one over me!" — S0204
"Without the burden of me. [...] Did you mean it?" "Does it matter? I got the result." — S0206
"I don’t know why I bother. You didn’t come here for me. One more round in the stormy romance of you two! Never been about me. I was just a roof shingle that flew off of your house." — S0207
Oh and special shoutout to: "My daughter was my sister was my throw pillow, when he wouldn't look at me kindly [...]" which does encapsulate Louis' relationship with Claudia more than people (me, even) like to admit.
The unholy family, everyone. If Claudia were a beautiful field, Lestat would be a fire spreading through it but Louis would be the gasoline poured all over the grass. Armand would be a nuclear bomb but we don't have to get into that.
All of this in our faces and people will look you in the eyes and tell you that "Claudia would never say that" about Louis in the seance scene and that that's "not their louclaudia". Perhaps you were watching a different show, because what she said to him was exactly what all these repeated failures built up inside of her.
Personally, I think the funniest thing about loustat going "well, that pretty much closes the door on that😬" after the seance is that... the door is most certainly very much open and they've got a big storm coming
he's so cutesie
Once you lock yourself to louis during your first iwtv watch you truly never get out. Even when I can't defend him I am a louis girl through all of his worst traits, BECAUSE of his worst traits. He holds himself up to a moral standard impossible to keep, trying to fit into the mold of a person (aha) that he thinks, or society thinks he should be. It's something about realizing he's doing that, trying to dismantle it and failing, trying and failing, thinking he's cracked it and then failing again. He's much more than a victim or a lover or a perpetrator, he survives through paralysis and self absorbtion, he's kind and loving, cruel and selfish, all in function of his own shame and the cages he needs to build himself in order to make sense of his life choices. He punishes himself for things he should have grace for and then absolves himself for things he should repent for. He loves so hard and represses so much of it he ends up hurting everyone around him while keeping blinders on and seeing nothing but his own pain and suffering. He's selfless to the point of being selfish. He isolates and he spirals and he looks for connection while willing to give absolutely nothing of himself away. He's growing and evolving and being vulnerable and falling back into the same old patterns anyway. And most importantly he's trying his best. Truly s3 Louis is trying his best, and he's failing and then he's trying again. Kind, cruel, messy, loving, self deprecating, victim, abuser, existentialist, capitalist, disinterested, sentimental louis de pointe du lac.
looove my personal version of louis the pointe du lac.

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE | THE VAMPIRE LESTAT — 1.07 // 2.08 // 3.06
I think there is a problem in the iwtv/tvl fandom space, as many people seem to believe every new piece of information we get this season is the complete truth, so every reframing or recontextualizing of a dynamic is seen as a retcon of everything previously established but i feel as though that is a disservice to what the show has always done. They give you a story and they try to make you understand that you will actually never have the full complete truth of events, as these different perspectives are only each character's truths.
So Louis did not lie, he told what he believed to be true and we later find out how difficult it is to know how much of it is real considering who he was married to for over 70 years. And Lestat isn't retconning everything we previously knew either, he's telling his very emotional version of events. Neither can ever be seen as the real events that took place as one of them had Armand fidgeting in his brain for seven decades and the other is known to use mockery and insults as a way to disguise his true emotions. So why are we quick to call Louis a liar? And why are we quick to take Lestat's word as the truth? Just because it's new information, does not mean it's sincere and does not erase what we had previously known either. This is something the show has repeatedly shown us.
Of course you're not enjoying this season if you sat through seasons 1 and 2 fully believing that the version of louis we saw in dubai was his true self instead of a performance, just as his entire relationship with armand was. Or if you watched those two full seasons, seeing him consistently dismiss claudia and put himself first before her and her memory, but you can't see why she would feel so much hatred for him. I'm afraid you did not get the show at all in the first place.
"I forgot. Love makes you stupid." Again and again and again. And now he dares to call upon her ghost, showing up to this seance with the other man she despised and who abused her, throwing in her face how his meaningless actions of revenge should be important to her or should grant him any of her forgiveness. Why shouldn't she make him feel like shit? And does it even matter to him? Does it truly matter when this version of claudia is no longer the one he had created in his mind and idealized for so long even after her death? A version that was never really truly claudia, as she has never been here to speak for herself and tell her own truth until now.
I don't know, i think people are being very small minded if they believe that claudia saying she hates louis means she never loved him, or that her unloading this hate on him after all these years is lessening the abuse she went through with lestat. To me, it's less about making lestat the lesser evil and more about understanding louis was complicit in the horrors she went through, that this infantilized and idealized version of her was a product of louis' selfish mind, wanting her all to himself to continue to serve him as a reminder of his guilt, the neverending guilt that essentially drives his life, and disregarding her as her own person and as the vampire she actually was.
okay so i totally agree with your point abt louis and claudia AND dare i say, as a claudia lover til the day i die, that it's truly so weird how people want her to be a 100% perfect victim who would never ever lie or do anything bad when she's literally a v a m p i r e. she's a victim of her shitty dads & deserves to bully them from beyond the grave AND she's messy and mean and a little evil. some people take defending claudia so far that they flatten her into a one dimensional character who is only a victim but she's so much more complex than that!!
YES!!! And i've been seeing some takes along the lines of that scene reducing her to just her anger but why shouldn't she be just angry now? That's not even what that was to me but even then, why shouldn't she just be rage filled?
Of course she is many other things, but she is not alive now to be any of those things and these men sitting in front of her are the reason for that, the reason for so much of her suffering. Why shouldn't she unload all this rage on them now that she had the chance? They robbed her of her opportunity to be any of those other things she was once she'd found the person to be them with, and that's what the show wanted to get through to us by having her destroy the fantasy of her that they'd created in their heads, especially louis
This is also something that makes her story so tragic and appealing to me, because it always comes back to "I was just a roof shingle that flew off of your house" because as much as we want claudia to rest, this rage will never let her. This isn't a disservice to her character, it's unfortunately what her story has been from day one. Only a tool and a trophy in the discombobulated world of louis and lestat, who even in death do not let her rest. She should get to torment them! Matter fact, they deserved that beheading as a little treat for claudia after disturbing her once more
I honestly find it quite strange how some people who claim to love claudia refuse to accept that louis is also her abuser. Putting the blame entirely on lestat feels genuinely insane to me and i say this as someone whose favorite character is literally louis
Perhaps that's why episode 6 felt out of place to them, as this was quite clear to me from the minute he begged lestat to turn this child without her consent to fix their marriage and continued to use her as a way to appease his own guilt over the things he'd done
She was never truly her own person to him, rather an extension of himself and she knew this too so it's crazier to me that people are shocked she hated him just as much as lestat
I guess i also just fail to understand how we're watching a show about literal monsters and people are still having debates over who is more morally correct than the other
The fog of love.
