Adventure Island on Gameboy
Adventure Island developed by Hudson software, as well as published by Hudson software. it was released on September 12 1986 in North America for Gameboy,as well as the NES. It also played a role in a adaptation to a arcade games called wonder boy. The only difference was it wasn't developed or licensed Hudson software, instead it was developed by escape software, and published by Sega, before Sega and Nintendo were competitors with there 16gb gaming consoles.
The player plays a role as Master Higgins a adventurer who ventures in the South Pacific, aftermath being informed that his girlfreind has been kidnapped by the witch doctor. The game consist of 32 levels of adventure, each of those levels consist of 4 areas ending with a boss( to tell the truth this game is kind of reminding me of Super Mario Bros). To get pass these stages you have to get to the end of a stage with an indication, or a cave of any source of opening. While doing that you need to dodge every enemies in your distance, whether its a crab seagull or even fish ( how can a fish harm you by all means they would just pussy out and swim away, just some things that dont make any sense).
The music sounds in tune with the game, meaning it kind of goes with the gameplay. Well since this is the game boy version it lacks of color but makes perfect sense. Even if there is no color, t still dosent hurt any of the graphics in anyway.I guess what iam trying to say is the game goes out like a normal 1980s game and would be fun for any gamer in the 1980s.
The only thing to me that is dissatisfying is that it is laid out like a Super Mario kind of game. The first thing that I would point out is that Super Mario bros on NES has 4 stages with a boss at the ending. You scroll down to the right dodging eneimies like I mention, but if you touch them even by accident you die. I also noticed while playing this game when you grab certain power ups it acts like a health bar if you touch anything whether a skateboard, hatchet, or even a mini dragon. You are also given a time limit just as you are given a time limit in Super Mario, if you run out of time you loose a life. The only thing that differs the game from Super Mario is the unlimited continues ( yeah, that's right, even if you do loose life's you can still redeem yourself, which differs from most games I have played in my time, not counting the new games we play today).
So over all this paticular game is one of the best I have ever played, despite having it looking like a Super Mario ripoff
