Couple pictures from my weekend. Some sun reached Seattle so I had my first garden lunch of a steak salad. And I got lost running from where my gf was headed out for drinks so accidentally ran 2km more than planned. Felt good though.

Week 3 Leangains
Still happily working on leangains. There have been a couple days that I have gone over my macros but otherwise pretty much sitting at 1700-2000cal a day. Scale weight is pretty much the same but I feel like I am on a good path.
I got my bodyfat measured for the first time at my gym and got them to do it for male and female measures and got 18% and 21% respectively. Interesting to have both and I am curious about how this shifts through years on T. Anyway I did it to give myself a bench mark to work from other than appearance and scale weight.
Lifting has been great. I feel strong even when I train completely fasted which is great. I hit some PR 1 rep max estimates this week.
Week 1 Leangains
Completed one week of leangains. Boredom is definitely the enemy here. I get grumpy that I don’t have food to look forward to in the morning. I haven’t felt at all like I am low energy or lethargic because I haven’t eaten.
Routine is something like:
Morning: Drink coffee + more coffee
Break fast 1pm: two boiled eggs + apple
Training
Lunch 3pm: Chicken + Veg
Snacks 4-6pm: Lara bar, more fruit
Dinner 7pm: Steak + veg
Treat 8:30pm: 2-4sq dark chocolate
Totaling about 2000cal for the day.
Non-training days actually still look the same. Training days I might have more carbs with dinner and a protein shake in the afternoon.
I feel leaner all the time now which is motivating. Scalewise I saw consistently about 1-2lb down through the week but that’s too variable to really note.
Current stats: 5′8′’ 178lb
More weeks are happening for sure.
Long time since I took a progress picture. Mostly because I dont see progress here. I have started lean gains intermittent fasting (16hr fasts) to see if I can get my bodyfat down while working on my lifts still.
Lifting update: I have been doing 5/3/1 for over a cycle now. Using a hypertrophy assistance for all but squats which I am doing boring but big.
Texas fail
First fail on Texas method today. Squats 280lb 1x2. Aiming for 5. I didnt even try a 3rd which was a bit wimpy of me. I just didnt feel strong. I had done circuits last night which is my excuse.
Next week I am coming back for it.
deadlift 1x5 285lbs last week
Squat 1x5 265lb from a week+ ago.
Texas method going strong.
Caught a cold last week so missed two sessions, back in today still feeling under the weather but beat it out anyway. Deadlift 1x5 today of 290lb, felt heavy but fine.
this was a few weeks ago in my office.
255lbs
Not my current 5RM on Texas but a week or so ago. Just form checking. Pretty terrible video quality.
Been training :)
Photo from a recent trip to Florida. I ate anything and everything I wanted to and then some drinking so I have some work to do to get back on track but it was worth it.
San Diego in 7 weeks so I am committed to a more hypertrophy program until then.
Left my heavy lifting at:
Squat 5x235
Deadlift 5x285
Bench 5x190
I want to post more often.
Life got busy
Training has still been happening. No PRs means no posting. Still doing 5/3/1 but my 1RM estimates are still not back to where they were pre-surgery. Creeping up though. Maybe another couple cycles on 5/3/1 and if things arent getting up there I will need to rethink.
Still running. Not exciting. Still dont love it.
Eating paleo at home. Hard to do that when eating out around here because food is mostly asian or pizza. Need more places offering chicken and veg!
I dont have any buff pictures to add but they should come in the near future.
Moved to Seattle!
Short post.
I moved to Seattle four weeks ago.
Started running four weeks ago.
Started weights two weeks ago.
Nutrition yet to get momentum beyond 2-3 days! Great on the whole but too much beer and eating out.
More excitement and winning to be posted in the near future. Hopefully with some buff pictures.
Been listening to this song all day. Lots to think about.
Maybe running wasnt the greatest idea. While it felt fine at the time, I have had pain in my lower abdomen for the last few hours. Might give it another week before trying another one.
Ok here we go. 4 weeks post op. Went on my first run back, 10mins 1.86km. Felt ok for my surgery but man my lungs werent happy to be back from holiday!
I cant eat great for the next few weeks because I need to eat out my freezer and cupboard for moving, then my parents, then setting up in Seattle. Plan is to make good choices and not excuses, just might not be as much fresh veggie and lean meats as I should go for.
Plan to run 2-3 times a week just 10-15mins each time for the next 2-4 weeks. Then back to weights in about a month.
When I get to Seattle I am ready to pick up the momentum I had before and get into the best shape of my life. I am so excited to move. The first time I will be financially independent in a wonderful city and ready to take life full on.
HERE WE GO!
...but first maybe write that masters dissertation.
Almost two weeks post surgery. Ready to get back to a routine. Day one solidly back on paleo and feeling good about it. Thinking I might add IF into the mix for the next few weeks when I cant train.
