How I mended a hole in knit fabric!

I patched yet another big hole in my reckless partner's sportswear and decided to document how I did it! I used an embroidery frame to help keep the fabric in place, but it can be done just as well without one. Other supplies are just a needle and some yarn. Here I'm using three strand embroidery floss.

I start by securing the fraying edge. Just stitching around the egde, all around the hole! If the edge is not straight, the parts sticking out will fold a bit when you tighten the stitch, but that's fine.

Here is the first step finished. Next, I stitch the two edges together!

There are a few different ways to do it, but the idea is to use the stitches around the edge to pull the two sides together with a ladder stitch. (This means that there's no tension on the fraying edge, just around it on the intact fabric!) I put the needle through two stitches on one side, then two on the other side and so on, always taking either the next two stitches or one previous and one new. Pull tight!

And voilà, the tear is fixed!

I stand with a form all fixed and modified,

A body I stayed with, laboured over,

Though I could have chosen to throw it out.

I stand before the mirror with trans written on my chest.

Lined and changed, my biohacked body

And rescued clothes speak prophecy to a future

As yet unnamed. I carry them both as a promise.

One on the other, endlessly whispering,

Visibly mended and always the proof

That redemption is worth the price.

I rub oil into my scars and ask

My grandmother to teach me how to sew.

Moss embroidery time

Thinking about making and selling lil hats! (example here) 🥳

Would be great fun and something to put energy into! I would maybe only sell them for $10-$15, i wouldn't really care i just want to make lil punk hats for people! I just enjoy the process so much i want to find a way to share it from my tiny bedroom in Australia. Would anyone be down? I would love to make patches, custom shorts and jackets, buttons and pins as well! Just wanna share this shit

Brainstorming my new battle jacket

(feel free to steal any ideas or stencil patterns, I exported the file in high quality instead of posting a screenshot just so it's easier for you in fact)

I FINALLY found an actual black denim jacket in my size in a thrift store this week so obviously I gotta pimp it up!! All my previous projects were done on denim shirts because for whatever reason it is impossible to find any denim jacket in a thrift store in my entire voivodship.

I knew I wanted it to be black and white to go with more of my wardrobe and be more graphic than my last battle jacket which is cluttered in a way that makes it unwearable with my other battle gear (at least to me and I am the only one who wears my clothes so only my opinion on this matters lmao)

I figured out what patches I want to put on it but now I gotta somewhat arrange them, I want the sleeves to be fairly simple and readable from far away, and have the detail focus on the upper half as I roll my sleeves 99% of the time.

I don't think i'm gonna make one central back patch, but I feel like i'm gonna combine the scene queen logo on my shoulders with the costa concordia (ship) lower and some band and meme patches in between and keep the political stuff on the front, for obvious reasons

Idk i'll update you once I figure it out
