Happy Birthdayyyyy Darling!! @rainesque There’s still a 1.5 hours left of your birthday so Imma type this up real fast LOL. Can’t break this tradition, and don’t plan on doing so any time soon! 

I hope your day was great despite being tired and having a case of the mondaze, but I guess that’s just the way things can be right? Despite that, I hope you had some great celebrations, cause you’re finally a quarter century old! YAY. It’s strange to think how fast time has passed since we started our tumblr days....has it been ten years yet? Feels like we’re getting pretty close. Reflecting back on the past year, I’m super grateful for your visits back in October and Christmas! Sometimes I forget how different our lives are now, being two years into our jobs, almost two years of you living in Seattle....and despite not talking to each other on a weekly basis, I’m glad we still update each other on our lives in random spurts LOL. And despite not seeing each other much over the year, we can still find lots of things to connect with over our long coffee/brunch dates :) It’s weird how somehow, even now, our lives/life events still match up every once in a while! I always say this but I’m forever grateful at how easy it is for us to connect whenever we get a chance to meet up, like seriously, I forget how we’ve been living in different cities/countries for a while now but it’s like you’ve still been with me this whole time. I’ll try my best to get my life together and respond to your messages in a decent amount of time, since it’s easy to let the small things in life slip by and only talk about the big things that are going on. Since both are equally important, and the small things can be just as interesting/meaningful as the rest :) 

Anyway, I really hope this year will be a year of growth, discovery, happiness,  and everything you hope for! I know it’s easy to get caught up in the daily routine, easy to dread work, easy to want to escape every so often. But I hope you constantly discover things to keep your life exciting and ever changing! Whether it’s in your job, your goals, friends, relationships, etc. Just remember it’s okay to feel like you don’t have things all figured out, because honestly, I’m pretty sure that most people feel that way too, even if they don’t show it on the outside. And remember you can always share your thoughts with me!! I’m always here for you, cheering you on in spirit :) And I still hold the hope of reuniting with you in the same city, and yes it’s taken a very long time, but it will happen someday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA <3

Wow is it me or does it seem like another year has passed already and here we are, on tumblr to continue our birthday post tradition :P Hopefully you’ll remember to check this!! (I definitely did not forget my password and had to reset it to get back in here....) 

Can you believe it’s already been a year since we’ve graduated? This last year has been interesting, we’ve began our careers and now the possibilities seem endless, and we gotta figure out what we really want in our lives and our jobs, because there’s no set path left for us like it was for school. I hope your job has been treating you well over the last 5 months (since the last we’ve really talked about it), and you have a slightly better idea of what you’d like to do or where you’d like your job to look like in the next few years. If you’re still figuring it out, that’s okay! Lately I’ve been thinking about how we shouldn’t feel so pressured by unrealistic “age” milestones, and giving ourselves these expectations like we are supposed to know what we are doing and have our lives together by a certain point just to feel like we are doing okay. Just know that you are doing just fine and it’s okay to take some time to find the right path. I hope you’re enjoying life in general as well outside of work! It’s weird trying to figure out what to do when we’re not working, and how to not feel like our lives are super routine and repetitive. But I think it’s all part of growing into this adult life, and I’m sure we will find a way eventually! Don’t forget, you can always talk about it with me even if we aren’t physically hanging out together :)

It’s too bad you can’t come back for the summer, I’d love to see all the concerts lined up this year with you! But I’m sure we will have another chance. STOP GOING ON FUN TRIPS IN THE SUMMER jk jk. We will see Alexisonfire together someday!! I’m still holding on to the hope that we will end up in the same city someday. I’m just trying to figure my shit out so please wait for me T_T But really, even if it might be a while until we see each other again, I never feel less connected with you. I’m so grateful for that, and to have you in my life in general. I’m pretty sure say this every year but you get the point LOL. I’m waiting for our next reunion so we can have those bi-yearly / maybe yearly life updates :) ANYWAY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST NANA

I feel like I haven’t called you that in a while LOL. But let the nickname and these long traditional bday posts never die :) Until tumblr dies or something, idk.

Wow, another year has already passed, can you believe it? It’s still a bit unbelievable that we’re finished our degrees already. Now it’s no more school, no more certainty in deadlines and hurdles, it’s just us and the rest of the world to explore and conquer. But that’s okay, since we’ve gotten a taste of what the 9-5 grind feels like, we’ll be more prepared this time :) (And hopefully enjoy our new jobs better than the last ones) I know the future might feel a bit daunting, especially with you moving away and adapting to a new city, and new country even. But don’t worry, I know you’re a strong, independent girl, and I’m confident that you’ll be able to handle anything that comes your way! And if the world ever feels like it’s on fire down there (cause yeh know, trumpland), or if you ever feel lost or homesick, just remember that I’ll always be there for you! Also, you can just fly back over the weekends or something LOL. NBD... 

I’m so grateful that you were at my convocation this year to celebrate this milestone with me :) You have no idea how much it means to me to have you there!! It really makes you think of how far we’ve come together in life, hey? From grade 5 lunch buddies, to high school, to university, and now engineers with our iron rings! It’s crazy to think of all the changes that’s happened in these last twelve years of our friendship, all the while still remaining so close, thinking on the the same wavelengths about many things, and being able to just dive right into conversations for hours on end. I know I say this a lot, but I’m just so so grateful to have you in my life :) Even if our lives take different turns, we’re still able to understand each other and relate super well. I guess this is what it means to be soulmates~ I’m confident that no matter what we have in store for us in the future, we will always remain best friends. We’ll tackle the next milestones together, figure things out together, and hopefully someday, be certain about ourselves and our lives and what we want from it. I still hold the hope that someday we’ll be reunited in the same city, even if it takes years! I’m looking forward to see what we have in store for us~ Lots of Seattle concerts and city exploring, right? ;) I can’t wait for you to come back again! Always super glad whenever you’re back in town :) We still have to try more ice cream flavours from Made by Marcus, and we also have City and Colour, and possibly Chasing Summer! HAAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA :)

Hello @rainesque :) I’m hopping on tumblr for the first time in months just to continue our tradition of giant tumblr birthday posts LOL. BUT YEAH HAPPY BIRTHDAAAY. 

Ahh, twenty-two years old :) Still considered “early twenties”, the time of youth, energy, adventures, and self-discovery. We’re not old yet! Though it’s easy to feel that way now from our year of internship, we got to feel what it’s like to be an adult working 9-5 jobs. (or...like 10 to barely 5 for you + and hour lunch break -/COUGH-). Adult life is quite daunting if you think too much about it, so many responsibilities, so many things to worry about and stress over. And, rather than always having stuff to do like in university, we actually get time off to ourselves after those 9-5 week hours, and it’s easy to worry about whether we’re using our time wisely, whether it’s productivity or just going out and having fun/enjoying life. But it’s okay, we’ll always get it through together with our ever-so-synchronized lives LOL. It’s crazy to think it’s been...like...11? 12? years now that we’ve known each other? We’ve grown up from carefree kids to worrying young adults haha. But I’ll always be by your side (in spirit, mostly, hopefully that won’t be the case for too much longer) and we will face any tough times together! There’s still a lot of things to be excited about, and we will eventually learn and figure out how to balance our time, and feel fulfilled with our lives. All in good time! 

I feel like I say this every year but I’m so glad to have you in my life :) You’re the only person I can really talk to about all those dusty thoughts I’ve shoved into the corner of my mind and buried for most of the time. It’s always so great, and honestly every time I see you, it always takes me a while to realize that we haven’t seen each other for months, or almost a year, even, sometimes. It’s such an amazing thing to just be hanging out with you and we can just pick up from where we left off, and can spend days just sitting down and chatting in cafes about our lives, all the changes that happened in between, all our uncertainties about the present or future, and what may lie in the future for us. I’m also really glad that even though we have two different lives in two different cities, we still think similarly about a lot of things, and can share our thoughts like that :) And again, thank you for letting me bug you for a week whenever I’m over and letting me always stay at your place, making plans for us for the whole time I’m here, travelling distances to try food places, letting me drag you to ridiculous dessert places to try out and everything. 

I’m hoping you’ll come back for a little while this summer! And if you don’t, or if you come back for a short period and your parents steal you for most of the time, that’s okay too :) Because I know there will always be a next time when we will see each other again, and even if it means another 6 months, that’s okay too! Do what you think is best, I don’t mind waiting a little longer because it just means we have even more things to share and talk about when we do see each other! And no matter what, we’ll always be just as close :) We can always spam each other over facebook and I’ll spam you over instagram with random stuff daily LOL <3

Anyway, don’t stress too much about work or responsibilities today! It’s a friday, go have fun and celebrate!! Being another year older may be scary approaching full time adulthood, but everything will always work out one way or another :) HAPPY BIRTHDAAY DEAAAR <3
