𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫, skin and scales that slide rough against his own in a familiar motion. An unspoken language he has learned through experience and memory, stumbling around both as would a new born lamb on uncertain legs. He picks across such ground, each shaking step becoming more sure, more certain, for he has tread in like manner afore. There sown within heart and soul by the very creature that holds him close now, til the tangling roots have burrowed deep. Knowledge and instinct both once foreign now sits comfortable within. He could no more hope to excise this part of himself as he could cut away his own lungs, his own heart. It is with him, and in every breath and in every beat of his heart, he feels Nidhogg in each.
He presses in return, scales to scales, skin to skin, the hot huff of his own breath against the wyrm’s. Across his shoulders is the tickle of dark hair, smoothed away by the clawed hands in near reverence. There whispers against his body the song that rises, soft and gentle from the start, melodies heard first through his soul, every mote of his being strung tight in anticipation of each verse. The shuddering sigh is his answer and refrain. Songs of rage and grief has he heard, poured forth through his fragile existence within this wyrm’s grasp. And now it is this song.
To hear a litany unmarred by grief or hate, that is the greater gift. He holds fast to these wordless verses that pour through him as molten gold, warmed without and within. The song rises, higher and at last are there words, in the tongue he should not know without the unfathomable quirk of dragonkind that has allowed mortal men to grasp a sense of their meaning. He needs not that aid now, each word engraved in indelible markings that rests at the bottom of his heart. Nidhogg sings now of love, eternal and overwhelming.
And he would rise to join the chorus, fingers tracing along the contours of his wyrm’s handsome features. ❝ En Ehsk.” His own verse threaded deep between them, the reverberations of his love that hums through their bond. Each kiss a note that he would have his wyrm hear and feel, every touch his part to the chorus even as he too whispers in song. Two souls intertwined. This love in which he shares. ❝ From your fires do I burn brightest. You, the source of my joy. Always. ❞
He sings it all.
