most, but not all, of the exe community has a serious problem with misogyny (and queerphobia). anytime a female or feminine exe gets popular, people either over sexualize them and call them ‘gooner slop’ or fetishize them. i’ve seen this with just about every female/feminine exe, most recently wistful, tripwire and unnamed amy vessel. (I know unnamed amy vessel isn’t an exe, but she’s exe related.) with unnamed amy vessel, people were being unnecessarily sexual about her until they found out she was trans, and then they started hating on her character. (spoiler It’s because most transphobic people don’t see trans women as real women and therefore ‘not able to be sexual’, which is bad because it invalidates and objectifies both trans and cis women). I’ve seen people completely Ignore the fact that she’s trans, so they can continue sexualizing her, which is just so weird because you’re not only ignoring her struggles and story as a trans woman, but that also shows how you see women in and outside of the exe community. joe had to literally make a tweet about the transphobia and that’s not okay. If people aren’t seeing this problem then you’re actually BLIND. the creator of wistful had to explain multiple times that the sexual ‘jokes’ about wistful were getting to the point where it’s uncomfortable, especially since it felt like most people who made those ‘jokes’ didn’t even bother to know about the character. so many (but not all) people liked tripwire simply for the fact that she was female and ‘able to be objectified’, but then started hating on her and blaming her for OM being canceled, as if the literal fictional character did anything when the fandom was pushing the developers into mental distress. It all went downhill when sarah henderson aka needlemouse started getting called ‘gooner slop’ because the fandom didn’t know how to handle a complex female exe. I’m not even going to get into how when her creator said she was canonically a lesbian people still continued to ship her with men or exes they saw as male. I also believe a reason why some people don’t like shipping exes is because they see most sonic exes as masculine or male and they have internalized homophobic, even when ‘canon exes’ are genderless. X is genderless. EXE is genderless. “Sonic” aka 2017x is genderless. are we forgetting these are creatures made from void matter? this fandom will always include queer people and queer exes whether you like it or not. anyways, there is nothing sexual about any of these female exes mentioned, the fandom just can’t act normal about female characters. (P.S. if this confession doesn’t apply to you, and you actually know how to be a civilized person in this community then I’m not talking about you.)

The Exe community has a massive homophobia problem, much like many fandoms I’ve seen so many people erase the canon sexuality’s of Exes to fit their straight ships, most commonly lesbian characters like Needlem0use.

i think people need to be more open about their yumeships in this community, i've seen quite a lot so far and it makes me so comforted because i felt like a little loner back in late 2022 because i saw NO other yumes in the exe community.. I'm now happily with rewrite for 3 years!! LIVE YOUR TRUTH, BE FREE!!!!!!!!!!
