Oh gosh, I'm really nervous...

Hi! I'm Reynaerde, and I'm a mermaid unicorn from the ocean planet Nereus!

I'm 28 years, pansexual, genderfluid, I can blow bubbles from my unicorn horn! It's something I've always been able to do, for as long as I can remember. My favorite bubble shapes are the purple hearts :)

I spend most of my day exploring sunken ships, collecting and polishing rocks, attempting to make fishy friends... oh and I loooove peanut butter MnMs. Not PEANUT MnM's, they gotta be peanut butter. Those are what I call Reynaerde snacks. Oh yeah, I can shrink, too! My chibi form is simply dubbed Chibi Rey. It's really helpful for getting into places I know I shouldn't get into...

So yeah! You can call me Rey, but not Nard. I'm not really social with other merfolk that much? I was bullied a lot as a young fishy for having my magic horn...it took me a long time to realize that it's actually cool to exist as I do!

I recently got my haircut, spacebuns! With SPRINKLES! They're actually bits of coral that get stuck in my hair, but I think they're cute. By the way the rings on my buns glow in the dark :)

you ever see those pictures of me with fun colors? that's an actual thing I can do! I can change my colors to be whatever I want! Like if a chameleon could be a really cool FISH!

Oh tides...what is there to tell? I'm ...well. a citizen of Nereus. you know. the mermaid planet. I say that, but there's probably more lifeforms than mermaids and the fish we eat. I wouldn't know; I don't have legs. My spots are because I'm part koi. so my bloodline may or may not grace others with good fortune.

The ribbon on my tail is...well, it's just cute. and I love cute things. I do love to decorate my tail...

The sprinkles in my hair are bits of coral that don't come off easily...but I think they're cute! I wear them well. #mysprinkles

I love hairbuns. I used to have a half shave hairstyle but...a certain someone threw a temper tantrum so...I have hair buns now! With glow in the dark space rings.

Somewhere in my family tree, there is a unicorn, hence me having the horn of one. So...I'm actually capable of two kinds of magic! Mermaid magic, all merfolk have mermagic. and unicorn magic. which I am still researching. Mostly, I just blow bubbles with my horn. it's a lot of fun and always perks me up when I'm down.

listen, listen, ok Reynaerde, the mermicorn, the adorable whimsical creature you see in my icon. She's mermaid and unicorn. However the only horsey thing about her is how loud she can be.

but she is very much unicorn. She has unicorn magic next to mermaid magic. She is also SHOCKINGLY good at making horse noises.

Whatever is impossible for a fishperson to do, Reynaerde can do with her unicorn half.

but other than that, she has no known horse-y or unicorn features.

SO....a unicorn might be in the family tree...veeerrry very far up.

Mermaids are obvious. Nereus is basically ruled over by merfolk. merfolk that can view multiple realities and be part of them if they so wished. that's a thing I made up just now. trust me on that.

we do have two giant landmasses on Nereus. One's made of garbage and one is, you know, dirt, with people on it.

...do I have to get a dress made? I don't even know where the local jeweller is. My sense of direction is horrible.

My schedule includes olympic training in the form of zoomies, followed by searching sunken ships for snacks, wallowing in despair for 30 minutes, followed by drawing my blorbos in the dirt with my magic stick.

...but I dont want people witnessing me getting frustrated at that last thing and destroying my artwork in rage? Nobody needs to see that. Sometimes I draw rude jokes...

though life is flourishing on Nereus, and everyone lives their lives happily, however they want to....

I have...what you may call depression. Thankfully, you earthlings already know what it is and can be.

My depression becomes more prominent in the colder months. When it arrives, I want nothing more than to hide and hibernate in a special cave all my own, that nobody else can find. It's nice in there. There's rocks, sculptures, and there's a small portion that's actually NOT underwater where I've built a little cozy nest of sorts.

Some days, it takes me a long, long time to convince myself to get out of it and my cave.

But hey, followers are friends, aren't we? If you're having a sad time...we can be sad together. We don't have to do anything. I can show you my cave, you can bring whatever you want so long as your items are waterproofed, I can share my peanut butter MnMs with you... We can feel like garbage together!

About Nereus

i guess Nereus can be considered an odd planet, with us merfolk having the ability to view multiple realities like they were TV shows. Magic mirrors, orbs, sometimes in magical bubbles as well. But watching these "shows" for too long...does make one...a bit...crazy. Like, to the point that they believe they belong in the reality they're observing rather than the one they're born in. I get it! I completely understand. Long have I felt alienated by my own kin... It was only recently that I learned to love myself, faults and all. Now I shine as I am!

The thing with witnessing multiple realities is...we can *watch*, but it is strictly forbidden to *interfere*. ...even if you want to save your blorbo... Here's another thing about Nereus. We have..a watery time god. imprisoned deep, deep within the planet's core. He's asleep, and some of us fear that if he ever wakes up again, our world will end. I don't know his name, but he makes my gills shudder.

I don't even know what he DID for him to be imprisoned like that, and put into an eternal rest. ...I don't think I want to witness him being awake, ever...

it is the day of thanks?

humans are rather peculiar. though the turkey day has with it lots of bloodshed, and colonialism...strangely, it is quite commercialized in the modern day.| But that is merely what I, an alien, have observed.

I come from a long line of....well, stocky merfolk. You know. Big ladies, guys, neithers.

And never have I had a day where I went to bed with a growling stomach.

For this, I am quite fortunate.

But feasting alone just causes more lonesomeness. What good is a feast where you are the only one to gorge yourself? ....can we do a tumblr feast?

I don't know many recipes but I could try bringing kelp tea....

Honestly...

I'm not employed. I'd like to be! Preferably as a mentor to little mer-kids. Lunch lady or storyteller would be nice, too. Sometimes I sell the rocks I polish, but I don't exactly...make a living off of it? Rocks are plentiful, the polished ones are moreso used in rituals or decorations.

But polishing rocks is fun! They get SO shiny!!

I have...over...a hundred. boxes full. of rocks I've polished. I don't fully remember how I got into it? I think my mer-mama was involved, talking about how sometimes we need a bit of roughness in our lives to truly reveal our shine.

Not much has really happened in my neck of the woods. I've just been here, making new bubble shapes with my horn. I can make cat heads now! It's a little tricky, but if there's a will, there's a way!

I'd love to have kids of my own someday, but I don't know that it'd happen, biologically. I'm a mermicorn but I have human, too :( my parents are merfolk, so I got being human from them. But I guess unicorn genes miss some generations? I don't KNOW! Somewhere in my family tree, there's another unicorn horn! I might be related to centaurs, too, but that's just a theory.

anyway, if I ever have kids of my own. I want to be called "Pop"pa.
