Summer was seated in the chair next to Reyna, elbows propped up against the edge of the table as she watched the other woman sort through bottles of polish. “Something fall-ish,” she answered after a moment, the corners of her mouth curving into a faint smile. “But I trust you. You always know what looks good on me better than I do.” Summer held out her hands, already imagining shades of deep red, orange and browns, unsure of what would look best.

Outside, the sun was beginning to dip behind the trees, washing the trailer in a warm, golden light that made it feel more like home than it should have. Summer allowed her eyes wander over the rows of nail polish before glancing back up at Reyna. “You ready for Halloween? It's nearly the middle of October and I still have no idea what I'm dressing up as.”

"Fall-ish is doable." Reyna nodded, glancing at the bottles in front of them and then looked back up at the blonde, offering her a smile when she gave her a compliment. "I don't know if I'd go that far." she laughed, shaking her head. "But thank you for the compliment; I try my best." she admitted, picking out a couple of colors to do a fun fall inspired design on her friend. She just hoped she could make it look good; designs she was okay with but she didn't think she was the best yet. "I'm not ready at all." she laughed shaking her head. "I'm not sure if I even want to dress up; I'm picking up an extra shift or two at the diner that weekend to let some other's spend time with their family." she admitted. "But, I think it'd be fun to dress up anyways, I'm not sure."

"I actually don't have one. I know, it's absurd but, my parents couldn't decide and apparently just decided not to give me one at all."

"I do. I have one on my shin from climbing a tree with my sister as a kid, one on my left index finger from pinching my skin with nail clippers and one on my wrist from burning my hand on a fire as a teen. I was pretty wreck less."

75. Have you ever started a rumor?

"I have actually. This really mean girl in high school was picking on one of my friends and I started a rumor that she had an STD so that none of the guys would date her. I feel bad about it now, but, it actually turned out to be true so I guess it wasn't technically a rumor and just gossip."

"Oh this is a fun question. I love an Australian accent, and I'd say it used to be my best impersonation too."

"I'm a Libra. I'm not one that really gets into horoscopes though so that doesn't mean much to me."

"Oh plenty of times. I used to go skinny dipping all the time in high school; we'd wait until around three in the morning and spend hours there before school. I miss those days."

41. Are you a good liar?

"I don't know really. I used to be able to weasel my way out of trouble during school, but, as far as on serious things, no. People usually figure out that I'm lying pretty fast."

"People who can't drive, having to live a life I never wanted for myself because of my own mistakes, losing my sister, my parents negligence.. just to name a few."

"You know I've never asked." she paused, shrugging her shoulders. "I've always really liked my name and thought it was pretty, and I know my grandfather's middle name was Ray, so, I wonder if it was inspired from that. If I ever find out I'll let you know."

"No, I don't believe so. If they were my family has never known, so it can't be too known of a thing. It would be really cool though if they were."

"No, not really. I've lived in or around Arizona all my life, so, maybe a mid-western one, but not one that I hear myself."

"Oh, definitely not. I don't think there's ever been a bone in my body that has any sort of ability to tell me when something's going to happen and I'm okay with that."

"I have, yeah. I spent nine years in prison for a crime I committed, but I'll spend the rest of my life regretting it and reliving it."

63. Biggest Fear?

"Falling from a really tall building, falling out of the seat of a Ferris wheel when it's at the very top, bungee chords breaking when I'm in the sky.. I guess you could say that's heights, right?" Though she pauses, letting herself think for a second, that's not the full truth. Her real biggest fear is never falling in love again but, she's not brave enough to admit that out loud. "Yeah, I'd say heights."

72. Are you scared of the dark?

"No, the dark has never really bothered me. I guess I've always enjoyed Halloween and spooky things too much to be too scared of the dark."

94. What are you strengths?

"I'm pretty creative in the artistic sense." she nodded. "I can draw pretty well and I find comfort in painting. I don't think my work is good enough to sell but it's something I find myself to be good at." Though she pauses, realizing she may have misunderstood the question. "Oh, I've also been told I'm a really good listener so I think that's something to brag about."

"I don't have any allergies that I'm aware of. Nothing I've ever eaten or taken has ever affected me thankfully."

It had taken Dre over a week to finally decide to brave Rosie's again. The diner just held too many memories, too many ghosts. Even though it had been years since Dre had seen his childhood best friends in person before the accident, Lucas' death had shaken him. Not just because it took Lucas away from him, but Reyna too. He'd lost both of his best friends that day, and it killed him.

After being in town for a couple weeks now, Dre knew he needed to rip the bandaid off eventually. So, after a day full of... well, not much, he decided to finally do some ripping. He chose the booth the three of them had practically made their second home, deciding he needed to bear the brunt of the old memories and nostalgia from the source.

Once the waitress stepped away, promising to come back soon to take his order, he fixed his gaze on the menu. If he had been able to focus enough to actually read it, he would have notice that it was exactly the same as it always had been. But he wasn't. Instead, he stared at it, unseeing, as a wash of memories flooded through him. Memories of three high schoolers wasting their time away in this very booth.

He was only pulled from his memories when a voice he hadn’t heard in years, one he could have sworn belonged to the past, suddenly materialized, and Dre’s eyes snapped up in shock at the woman standing before him. It felt like he had conjured her from his memories. Dre hadn't done much to catch up on the town gossip since being back, so he had no idea Reyna was back. That she had been released from prison at all.

Unable to tear his gaze away, but unable to speak at first either, he probably resembled something closer to a goldfish than a man seeing his high school best friend for the first time in over a decade. Finally, after the silence had grown uncomfortably long, he managed to clear his throat, glancing away from her as he tried to figure out what to say. After all, what do you say to someone who used to be your best friend but who you had let down so completely?

"Rey." The familiar nickname slipped out before Dre even realized it. "Hey, uhh—" he swallowed down decades’ worth of apologies and all the I failed you’s threatening to surface. "I… I didn’t realize you were back in town." It came out sounding more like a question, but what was he really asking?

There was a point in her life where Lucas has been her entire world, and with that came the benefit of meeting his friends, which was where Andre Carter had graciously blessed her life all those years ago. Sure, at first she'd been less than keen on sharing her man with his best friend and had even tried to opt out of a few of those group hang outs through the years when she just wasn't feeling it socially. But as sure as the sun would rise and set every morning, Reyna Kendall had grown to adore Dre, just as Lucas has promised her she would. She looked at him as the younger brother she'd never had; a part of her that would always be lost in the world if they ever parted ways. That was exactly how it had felt when the two had lost contact over her poor choice of actions. It hadn't just been Reyna's life she'd ruined that day. She could almost guarantee Dre's had been ruined too; he'd lost two best friends after all.

She nearly forgot she was holding a pot of hot coffee as her eyes scanned her former best friend. If it wasn't for the steam coming off the pot and the way she had to grip it tighter to keep from dropping it - knuckles white and a pain radiating through her arm from the tenseness - shed likely have thought she was dreaming. Because there was no way that Andre Carter and her were in the same town again, him sitting in their booth; this had to be something out of a dream. And she nearly believed that until another customer bumped into her, cursing her for standing in the middle of the floor which caused Reyna to blink back the tears she was already fighting.

She turned, placing the coffee pot on the pot holder on the counter for the other to take, hands fidgeting now that they were both unoccupied as she let herself nod slowly to Dre's comment. "Uh, yeah." she swallowed. "I've been out for a bit, but, I just got back into town a couple of months ago." It had been nearly half a year now, but somehow seemed both longer and shorter collectively. "I didn't realize you were back in town."

"Okay." Reyna stated, unloading her arms full of stuff onto the kitchen table, taking a seat in the chair closest to her. She allowed a moment to straighten the bottles out so that they were standing up, glancing at all the supplies to make sure that she wasn't missing anything. Only once she was settled did she allow herself to look back at the other. "I have all the supplies here, so we can get started whenever you're ready. Do you know what you want? One color, a fun design or patterns?" The options were honestly endless as Reyna could do nearly anything you wanted.

fingers tapped slowly onto the table-top, it was barely past nine in the morning and nina had been up the whole night, working another shift at hysteria. her jasmine perfume lingered despite that hint of sweat and alcohol beneath sprinkles of glitter. in her car, outisde the dinner, a bag hid a few biquinis and high heels, now exchanged for denim pants, a shirt and boots. " a birthday? " her attention darted towards the cupcake, fingers pulling it closer for inspection. " this one smells so nice? did you bake it? "

"I didn't, no." Reyna smiled, shaking her head as she looked at the other. "I'm not sure where they're from, I didn't buy them." she admitted. "But if I have to guess they're from the bakery here in town." she shrugged again. She'd ask later if the other really wanted to know, but she didn't really have a clue where they came from. The cupcakes had been just as much a surprise to herself as they had been to the people she was giving them to. "I do know that frosting is the best I've had in awhile so if you're a frosting person and not a cake person than you're in for a real treat."

The picture of the newspaper clipping that had been placed in this exact spot on the wall for years now; Reyna saw a glimpse of herself in the photo, but she looked away before letting her eyes drift to the right, knowing who else was in the photo. She hadn't seen a photo of him since the accident, and even though she had worked at Rosie's since her arrival back, this was the first time her eyes had landed on the now faded article on the wall. She exhaled before turning, eyes scanning the tables for any sign that someone needed something from her, only before they circled the room, they instead widened when they landed on the exact booth that was in the photo. She shouldn't have been surprised; he was just as regular of a person as she had been in Sedona. She just didn't realize that he was back in town, and the realization broke her heart all in itself. "Dre." she whispered as she approached, a pot of coffee in her hand despite the fact it was afternoon. She opened her mouth to speak again, yet she couldn't figure out how to form words, instead she just stared.
