Today I thought of Dez. He was once a kind man who provided me… intellectual stimulation. He was a graduate from Columbia law school, a corporate attorney who worked in Milan. He was of Irish descent, hailing from New York. I loved how his mind worked, his rapier wit and his wicked sense of humour.

He loved my sense of humour too, prolly to this day, the only person who truly got all my jokes 😅

He asked me to marry him once, knowing full well that we are of different faiths. He’s a devout Catholic who attended mass every Sunday and would gladly jump at the chance to kiss the Pope’s ring! He asked me, "do you think it'd work out?" He asked me repeatedly to come to Milan to be with him... I adored him and his company but I… couldn’t accept his proposal.

I remember the last time I saw him, via video chat,he was rushing to leave Milan at the time, to go back to LA. He was already late to get to the airport. I remember how his hair tapered at the base of his neck, as he straightened his collar, then hurriedly button his shirt, grab his jacket and go…He wore a yellow jumper that day. That was the last I saw him… because soon after that.. well… “life” happened.

I have been trying to look for him, just to touch base and say hello… but to no avail. I wish I could shoot the breeze with him again.. I wish I could shoot the breeze with you…
