Hello all! My name is Rhine and I write the advice column for the school paper. So I'm always here to give you advice on anything and everything.

“You weren’t here last game?” He asked, “And why not?” Thomas was always curious, about everything and everyone, and so he had to ask, whether it was rude or not. “I come to every game, unless I’ve got detention, but even then the professors like to go to the games themselves so.” 

“I was....” Rhine thought back to the last game and what she was doing instead. Her father had sent another howler to her and it used very colorful language and blamed her for the impending divorce. The rest if the day was spent under the covers with tears streaming down her face “... busy studying. I was starting to fall behind my classes, so I spent time catching up in the empty library.”

“The last game was very close, yes, that’s true. Surprising, but it was against Slytherin, and they’re always quite difficult to play against. I feel as though Hufflepuff has a better chance this time.”

Looking up at the sky to watch the Hufflepuff team in their warm-up laps, he hummed softly, glancing back at her with a small smile. “I only know because I went down to the tents,” he admitted. “Their Keeper is down this game. They have a reserve in, but he’s as good as the main string. Predictably, granted, but it’ll still make Gryffindor’s odds less than normal.”

“It’s been a brilliant morning so far. I’ve spent most of it milling about with the players, save a bit of chat with Annabelle and now talking with you, so it’s been quite simple. I’m glad to see you in the stands, you know.”

“Slytherin does tend to play rougher than the other teams, they’re not afraid to play dirty. But our team has been training as hard as they can for this match and with the odds Gryffindor has, we’re sure to win now”   

“You are?...Well I’m glad to be here to, I haven’t been to a game in what seems like ages now”

“You seem so unsure we will.”

It was rare for Aureliano to sit in one spot in the stands for long. He liked to mingle, to find out what the others in the stands were thinking of the game outside of himself and Annabelle. It was more interesting, to see all the different reactions as the game went on, to see how people were feeling about the players that were in air and the ones that were noticeably missing from the game from the main string on the rare occasion that, like today, there was a main string player not on one team. The Gryffindor Keeper’s absence was talked about, of course, and Aureliano could already hear whispers around Rhine – but he was more focused on his housemate and columnist at the moment.

“Hufflepuff looks in better shape than ever, and with Gryffindor missing a player, I’d say most of the stands are actually in yellow this game. Metaphorically speaking, of course. How are you feeling today, Rhine?”

“It’s just that the last game we were doing so well, but we ended up losing anyways. Or so I’ve heard, I couldn’t make it to that one”

Rhine paused as she looked to the skies and saw Annie flying around with the others. It was nice to get at least one friend back in her life. She then turned back over to Aureliano, “I didn’t realize they were missing a player, I haven’t been really coming to the games so often.” 

“I’m doing okay, today’s been a pretty good day. How ‘bout yourself?”

Annie knew that she should go soon. Everyone was warming up and Colette probably wouldn’t be too happy if Annie stuck around for much longer, but she really wanted to see her old friend again. Hopefully this encounter would hint that Annie still cared about her and wanted to be her friend, but Annie didn’t want to push it if Rhine didn’t feel the same way.

“I’m glad I came by, too. It’s really been a while… what’ve you been up to lately?”

Having one of her close friends sitting next to her instead of practicing made Rhine feel glad to have come to the game. It made her like she belonged once more. 

“It has been, hasn’t it? There’s just been....a lot going on with family. I’m sorry I haven’t been around. How are things with you?”

Rhine had felt left out more than ever, by now none of her friends were speaking to her.Her mother had sent in another owl saying that she had officially moved out of their home. The home that Rhine grew up in and had all her cherished memories there. Things were getting worse for her family in the muggle world, and she decided she deserved a bit of fresh air and something to smile about. So she quietly walked over to the match against her own house and Griffindor. Rhine wished she could’ve walked with some friends, but she had pushed them all away. In the end she sat alone in the stands and watched the game begin. 

“I hope we win” she whispered to herself.

“Well that makes two of us.” Annie smiled at her friend. They used to be so close, but lately it almost felt like Rhine was avoiding her. Of course, this really alarmed Annie and she worried about her constantly. Despite her being so worried, Annie didn’t push Rhine to talk to her, not wanting to bother her. Another one of Annie’s worries was that Annie had done something wrong or that Rhine simply stopped liking her. “I really shouldn’t be here right now, since the game is about to start any minute and I kinda need to be there, but I saw you and I guess I just wanted to say hey. So, uh…hey!” Annie awkwardly said, including a small wave to up the awkwardness.

Rhine turned at the sound of Annie’s voice. It saddened her that they were seeing each other with so little time to talk, she wanted to fix the things she was destroying. It was becoming clear she wouldn’t be able to finish her school year here and she didn’t want to leave with broken friendships as her last memory of Hogwarts. But she’ll take the time she can get. 

“Hi, Annie” she turned back to the players warming up and flying around on the field. 

“I’m glad you came to say hi”

“Hello Rhine!” She greeted chipperly, coming up alongside the Hufflepuff girl. “Wonderfully dreadful conditions, yes? Both teams seem to prefer it to rain, though, so that’s something. Have you heard all the setbacks on the Gryffindor team? Do you think that’ll improve Hufflepuff’s chances? How’s your latest column going, well I hope?”

Rhine’s ear’s perked when she heard her old friend going of on another babbling session. If she were to be honest, the Hufflepuff would admit to missing the rants of Annabelle. They made her laugh, they made her question things, and now they reminded her of all the good times she used to have with the rest of her friends. Maybe for today, she could try to be like her old self again and talk with her friends and not push them away. 

“Hey, Annabelle” she smiled “I umm...haven’t heard about Gryffindor’s set back, but I really hope that Hufflepuff wins. Just look at them all zooming around up there” 

“My column’s going well, just the usual things about how to stop their secrets from getting to the Gossip Witch or asking if I know who it is”

Thomas, looking for a place to sit as he meandered through the stands, spotted a lonely looking Hufflepuff and sat down next to her, almost uncomfortably close. “Hey pretty lady,” he smiled at her, “Why are you looking so down? Worried about your house today? Hufflepuff will do fine, I’m sure, but this is going to be a close game. They both came out pretty top on their last games, minus the losing part, so.”

Rhine was looking up at the skies towards the seekers who were trying to find the Snitch. Suddenly there was a warmth next to her, it was the Ravenclaw Keeper. Usually she would’ve said some sarcastic reply or something remotely funny, but the letter was on her mind and she couldn’t the notion of forever leaving the wizarding world with her mother. And of course she didn’t want this boy to find out about that. 

“Yeah, I’m a little worried about them. I wasn’t here the last game so I didn’t know how well they did.”
