Lexember 2025 Day 2
The word today is the word for father. I noticed that many languages tend to use labial stops (p, b) in their word for father so that's what I used here also. The rolling r is what dornishmen accents are noted for in A Song of Ice and Fire so I decided that this should be a common part of the rhoynar language:
bara (n.) [‘bɑr.a] *bara
father, dad
Lexember 2025 Day 1
For Lexember 2025 I am posting a word from my Conlang for the Rhoynar, Lomar Rhoynos. The first word is the word for the River Rhoyne:
rhoyna (n.) ['ɹɔɪn.a] *runa
The River Rhoyne
This was the first word I created, it seemed appropriate to start with the River Rhoyne given it was the centre of the Rhoynar civilisation. My assumption is that most Rhoynar words known are the Valyrian interpretations, hence rhoyna rather than rhoyne.
What Happened to the Rhoynar?
They were destroyed or forced to flee their cities by the Freehold of Valyrian 1,000 years before A Game of Thrones.
Princess Nymeria of Ny Sar led 10,000 Ships and fled to numerous locations before settling in Dorne in Westeros. The modern Dornish are a mix of First Men, Andals and Rhoynar. House Martell descends from Princess Nymeria and her marriage to Prince Mors Martell andThe Palace of Sunspear is built in the Rhoynish style.
Some of the Rhoynar refused to merge with the Dornish and became the Orphans of the Greenblood, who still worship Mother Rhoyne.
The Dornish differ from the rest of the Seven Kingdoms with their laws of equal primogeniture and their tolerance of paramours and homosexuality due to the influence of the Rhoynar culture.

Where did the Rhoynar live?
The Rhoynar lived on the banks of the River Rhoyne in Essos, near to where the Free Cities now are.
They lived in 6 city states: Chroyane, Ny Sar, Sar Mell, Sarhoy, Ar Noy and Ghoyan Drohe.

Who were the Rhoynar?
The Rhoynar are an ethnic group of people who lived in Essos for before being driven out by the Valyrian Freehold 1,000 years before A Game of Thrones.
They were a slender people with olive skin, black hair and dark eyes. They were more tolerant than other races in A Song of Ice and Fire such as practicing equal primogeniture, tolerated paramours and homosexuality and their women were allowed to be warriors.
They were famous for their art and music.
They were a fiercely independent people, living in separate city states.
