Anwayyyy

starting with the base costume There’s a a bit to be desired when it comes to devsis writing, but character design is rather wonderful

The closed eyes may represent his ignorance, tho that’s a given. I like how it matches his kingdom, he practically looks like he could blend into its walls. His eye staff looks a little bit evil, so to say. It’s certainly fancy, befitting a king. He wears a sort of crown made of waffle, which is a common theme through his kingdom and his outfit.

then truthless recluse. His eyes are open, but they’re darker than usual. Like he’s seen what he needs to see, but is unable to see the bright side of the truth. He has a key on his outfit, which once again probably represents finding out the “truth.” He keeps the cone crown, but it’s black. He looks a lil depressed (gasp). His staff has a massive change from before, with multiple eyes not dissimilar from shadow milk. But one is closed while two are open. This could possibly be how he hasn’t seen the whole picture. He has an eye on his crown, probably to represent his “allegiance” with shadow milk and his new insight, but I’m only in ep 3 of beast yeast so I couldn’t say

Awakened! His staff is a key, probably representing how he can reach the truth when he wants to. His eyes are still closed, though, as if he’s choosing to look away from those hard truths. I like the details of the dark blue galaxy hiding closed eyes, adding another layer. It shows how he’s changed. The eye thing on his crown is still there, but with a galaxy instead of the eye gem thing. I want to say it represents how he wants to look at the bright side but I really don’t know I haven’t made it that far yet. He gets some of the waffle design back, and he grows hair.

he’s pretty cool. While they don’t have much symbolism separately, they manage to create a cohesive story in their costumes

I had a dream where it was a straight romance that slowly bloomed and it was pretty average but then it turned out the male lead was trans and was bullied out of his past school and he really loved art but stopped doing it after it all got dark (from the bullying) and idk it was a cool dream.

hyuna outfit rant

Her outfits match her character way better than the others. The constant low-cut tops paired with some kind of pants show off her reckless attitude

Most noticeably, as a kid, she wore a boy’s anakt uniform with shorts instead of pants. She’s the only character who doesn’t wear the gender’s designated uniform, and perhaps even changed it herself. Which like, yay! Goodbye gender norms! But who allowed her to do it? Was she even allowed to?

When she’s wearing the worker uniform in weige, it’s the only time she seems cautious. She covers her face and has her hood up. Even then, she acted recklessly to save Luka. As usual, the outfit is the opposite of what they did or what happened to them.

Now, karma. Both she and hyunwoo seem to be wearing the anakt uniform. That’s probably to attract your attention to the broken heart and the complete one in each of Luka’s hands. I’d guess that’s the main reason, but, like with Ivantill in an earlier post, it could also represent how their love didn’t get the chance to go anywhere.

To conclude this little series, it’s interesting that I personally kept coming back to the colors of the outfit, and how they were usually either black or white. As far as I know, that isn’t too common in character design. I hope this piqued your interest! <3

Luka outfit rant

He’s constantly wearing white, which generally (as I’ve stated before) means purity. It seems to match his public image, but he’s done this before, and he’s constantly tricking people and manipulating them, which isn’t innocent either.

The white accentuates his features, especially his blue fingers. It’s almost like he’s trying for pity.

The bows make him look cutesy and performative, they flare outwards and make up the presence he couldn’t give himself.

Are those fluffy Victorian sleeves? I’m not aware of the correct wording, but that’s usually what style you’d attribute the sleeve style to. The loose clothing makes up for his size, the tiny gaps in his clothing look like fan service, it’s all supposed to attract attention. Fitting for a veteran.

TOP 3 fit

We only see it for half a second, but two things draw my attention: the string around his neck, and the throne. In my Till fit analysis, I said the choker seemed to represent being caged. Luka’s choker could represent the same thing. But it’s not metallic, it’s soft fabric. Like Luka doesn’t need a hard hand on his life because he’s already accepted what it’s going to be like, and isn’t planning on fighting back.

The throne obviously shows that he is the “best”

Which is mildly debatable, but I’ll leave that to yall

Final round.  Wow, that’s a lot of fan service! His outfit seems higher quality compared to the other rounds. The slight medical theme is ironic, a doctor saves lives, and Luka is the one killing them. In a few other posts I mentioned how their outfits meant the opposite. This is another example. Till’s colorful outfit contrasts Luka’s almost monochrome one. They can’t be compared, which is exactly what the segyein are trying to do. At the end blink gone, the white/teal of Luka’s outfit fades into the bright colors of the light. It sets the story up for the end, where despite losing, till ends up happy, and Luka is still stuck in alien stage.

Extra stuff:

He’s wearing a lot of rings. That isn’t good for circulation, and he already has blue fingers

There are metal wires that string over his chest? It’s closer to Till’s style, like the metal things on his round 6 fit.

He uses different sleeves. In all the other outfits he had the same flared, ruffled sleeves, but with this one they’re just straight and flat.

sua outfit rant

Her round 1 dress: pure and innocent almost. In the song, it gives her a naive and kind look, we only learn later she was generally a cold person. The big bow adds to that air of innocence. If the dress were supposed to be swapped, once again, the black may symbolize death, but since they were swapped she got a white one, which usually symbolizes (gasp) purity and innocence

The Mizisua outfit gives an air of riches. The ruffles and excess of fabric certainly don’t give “poor”

The pure white compliments her emotionlessness, she wasn’t a “vibrant” person until she met Mizi

Karma time!!!! *cries*

Both Mizi and Sua are nude. It probably symbolizes how they knew everything about each other, how they were open books only for each other, desire attempting to hide secrets from each other.

A lil extra (this one felt short), in karma till wears white (purity), and Ivan wears black (not purity) matching the “Ivan forced his love on till” narrative. But till’s slightly unbuttoned shirt could’ve been foreshadowing???? How he was simply in denial, not refusing his love. The white could also symbolize how the love was still pure and untouched, hadn’t had a chance to be realized or used.
