?????? people do this? 😭 ngl this is the first time I’ve heard about it and I don’t see how that can work. wdym you don’t read fics about your preferred character? wdym you just slap your preferred character’s name onto another character in people’s fics when their personality and characterization aren’t even the same????? I’m not even talking about how this may be a not-so-good thing to do to the respective writers even though they. won’t know if you don’t tell? but. why? isn’t it so much better to just read fics about your preferred character or, better yet, write it yourself?

I don't think it's disrespectful - the author wouldn't know you did that as long as you don't tell them, so who cares? I do think it's pointless. The story probably won't fit the new characters, and if you don't care about that and just want any random story with the names, you could pick any story in the public domain and do the search-replace with that.

For various reasons, I kept my married name after the divorce, but for other various reasons, I'm more than ready to move on.

I did consider taking back my maiden name, but turns out that in terms of cost, I wouldn’t save a whole hecking lot compared to just... getting a whole new last name.

So yeah.

Trying to find a new last name that I can feel happy with. And then just hope it will be approved.

Decided to check with my team leader and HR what kind of process they have in place for name changes, just so I know should this whole application process for some reason go quickly and smoothly.

Doesn't seem to be all that complicated so now... we apply.

Now we just hope that the committee will vibe with my motivation for changing my last name and accept the one I have applied for so I don't have to repeat this again to the tune of 100 €.

IT'S OFFICIAL. AS OF THREE GODDAMN DAYS AGO I HAVE A NEW LAST NAME.

It has been a month.

And I have not gotten my new ssc card. It is sent out automatically when you change your name, and usually you get it in like... a week from when your new name is registered in the systems.

I called the ssc office about a week after my name change had gone through, because as one does, I started panicking that I had forgotten to do something. Lady who I spoke to on the phone assured me everything was fine, the new card had been ordered, they were just very backed up after New Years so it would probably be another week or two before it would be sent out.

Again, this call happened about a week after my last name had changed.

So, you know.

A WHOLEASS MONTH AGO.

Last week, I went to renew my drivers licence. "You should get it in one to two weeks."
