It was on this day 43 years ago that the greatest rock and roll guitar player of all time checked out. (The announcement of my birth was the second story on this telecast.) It has always driven me insane that my mother was unaware of the major tragedy that occurred on that day. She offers some excuse about "being busy". I've always attributed it more to my parents' musical tastes being marginal by the time the 70s rolled around.
