RESTAURANT VISITS IN SAN MIGUEL:
We were in San Miguel some years ago, and on this upcoming trip we are looking forward to seeing what’s new in the dining scene there (especially, seeing that a Rosewood hotel is now operating in San Miguel; recently we experienced the Rosewood ‘Mayakoba,’ located in Playa del Carmen, and were wonderfully surprised by the high quality of food, drink, and service offered). Here are some of the restaurants we will consider during during our evenings in San Miguel:
1826
Luna
Mi Vida
Moxi
La Posadita (One of our favourites in San Miguel.)
El Tomato
During this trip, we will keep any eye out for promising Mexican vino, to see if new wineries are offering even better Mexican rosé, white, and red wines. For example, on our recent visits to Mexico, we have enjoyed the Spanish-inspired varietal wines from a premium winery based in Baja California, called Adobe Guadalupe. Tequila always tastes better in Mexico, so, we will also look to see what’s new on the shelves at premium liquor stores in San Miguel.
Lastly, a visit to Café San Agustin will be a must, at least once, for excellent churros and hot chocolate.
(OTHER THAN DINING and RELAXING) THINGS WE LIKE TO SEE and DO IN and AROUND SAN MIGUEL:
El Charco del Ingenio
Fábrica la Aurora
Galeria Atotonilco
GETTING TO SAN MIGUEL:
Closest airport: Guanajuato/León (BJX). We usually fly from Chicago, to San Miguel (via Houston), landing at BJX. From BJX, driving to San Miguel takes about 1.5 hours.
Other airport options include:
Mexico City (MEX): Driving from Mexico City to San Miguel takes about 3 hours.
Guadalajara (GDL): Driving from Guadalajara to San Miguel takes about 4 hours.
