Aphrodite Was At Pride

She was marching with the lesbians, decked in shades of pink and “my girlfriend doesn’t know I’m a lesbian” shirt. They all lock arms, laughing, sweaty and covered in body paint and glitter, and her eyes tear up as her heart swells at the sight of all these girls supporting one another.

She was with the POC group, fist raised in the air chanting “Black Lives Matter” until her throat was raw. She can’t help but notice the dirty looks and the racist comments, but they only fuel her onward, she will not stand idly by as lives are consumed by hatred and ignorance.

She was with the bisexuals, a blue pink and purple flag waving behind her. She leads the charge, music blasting behind her, her presence larger than life. Their love will not be unheard or erased, not today.

She was with the trans men, reminding those who need it to take a break from their binders every couple hours, and to take a good stretch too. Pride is exciting and nerve wracking, and sometimes people forget to take care of themselves.

She was with the trans women, coordinating the flag carriers. Some of them have become confident in their identity, but others are still trying to find their footing. She beams at them, lovingly welcoming them to the sisterhood.

She was with the pansexual’s, tossing confetti into the air and laughing as children run to catch it. Love exists every where, and is open to everyone, and she is happy to remind the world of that.

She was with asexual’s and aromantic’s, because love exists outside of sex or romance. The young boy walking beside her is clearly nervous, so she bumps his shoulder and reminds him that he’s among friends, and his smile becomes a little more genuine.

She was with the gay men, watching as an anxious couple leans into each other, foreheads touching as they take a few deep breaths. Their hands intertwine and together they bravely move to join the rest of the group for their first pride. She can’t help but be proud of how far they’ve come.

She was with the ally’s, rainbows painted on her cheeks. Some carry pictures and LED candles, memorials to their LGBT loved ones who were no longer alive to celebrate with. She comforts them in their grief, reminding them that through their love their loved ones live on.

She was with the elderly, pushing an elderly woman’s wheelchair. Excitement buzzes through the group, some of whom have known her glow for nearly a century, while others are just now getting the chance to explore it.

She was with the nonbinary’s, handing out pamphlets about gender identity, expression and the importance of respecting people’s pronouns. Colourful beads hang from her neck and wrists, adding to the festive feel.

Aphrodite was at Pride. She was there, reminding everyone to be loud and proud, because love, peace and acceptance were worth it. She was there, shouting to the heavens the simple truth that love belonged to everyone.

This is roughly what I make sure I have in my kitchen all the time along with rough estimates of local prices (MN). I buy a lot of things when they’re on sale and stockpile them. 

instant oatmeal packets with fruit in them - $3 probably and this can be breakfast all week and maybe even a lunch or dinner too since you usually get 10 packets

bag of rice - $2-3 depending on size. 1 cup dry rice makes enough for about two meals depending on what you add in. if you get cheap rice, rinse it before cooking

canned beans - usually under $1 per can - mix the can with your rice and you have a meal. chili-spiced beans will make bean tacos. Rinse non-spiced beans before adding to anything.

Tortilla - usually around $3 but you get like 8-10 of them. Tacos, wraps, and quesadillas are all fair game here

lettuce - $2 max around here, either a head of something or bagged precut depending on preference, use as a salad or on tacos

protein other than beans of some sort - probably $5-7 for meat, $2-3 for eggs. sometimes I can get bags of frozen chicken breasts in this price range and each is usually 2 meals if I add in a bunch of veggies. fry/scramble eggs and add to any of the options. 

your favorite stir fry sauce - $3ish

vegetables - $5ish. literally anything that you can 1. fry in a pan and 2. you’ll eat. fresh carrots are usually pretty cheap. get frozen if it’s cheaper and you’re strapped for cash/prep time on this part. 

alternative to stir fry:  pasta (~$2), fresh tomatoes (~$2), cheese (~$3). 

cheese and fruit if you have extra - look if your store has loyalty cards for free that you can load coupons on for cheese there’s always one it seems like.

Reblogging because there’s never knowing who’ll need it.

Adding also: the single most nutritious food on earth is potatoes in their peel. Potatoes + some milk and butter = everything you need. They don’t last all that long, but they’re fairly cheap and the quickest cheat to “How do I not fuck my body up.”

(Cooked potatoes’ll last a while in the fridge. Potatoes nearing the end of their useful lives? Cook them to half-done first, figure out what to do with them later.)

Easiest baked potatoes: slice thinly but not paper-like, spread like cards, brush with oil (a silicone baking brush is totes worth the little it costs), spread salt and pepper (a little less than you think you’d like), cover with foil, stick in oven or toaster-oven at 150C for 40min. (If you have the patience, at that point click up to 180C, remove the cover and add 10-20min.) Reheats well, lasts in the fridge longer than it’ll take you to nom.

Dead-Animal-Free Whole Protein: some legumes + some grain. AKA rice and lentils, or rice and beans. (Maybe some fried onion for flavor; onion’s cheap and stays good a descent while. Fried onion makes everything taste better and keeps forever in the freezer, so frying up a bunch and keeping portions is not a half-bad idea.) (If going for the beans option - lentils are cheaper around here but fuck if I know what it’s like in your area - dump some tomato sauce and oil in; canola or soy are best health-wise, and far cheaper than olive; avoid corn.) Oh, what does instant couscous go for in your area? It keeps for fucking ever, it’s usually cheap, and it takes well to any and all added taste.

If you get to choose, black lentils taste the best and need the least soak-time (0-20min), green lentils are best for cooked stuff and red lentils are best in soups. (Red lentils + potatoes + root vegetables of choice + spices; cut into small pieces, cook, run through the blender if you wanna [stick blender’s awesome], freeze in portions.)

When possible, get instant soup mix. Get the good instant soup mix. (The kind that’s not made primarily of sugar, yeast or both. The rest is optional.) Dump 1/2tsp (or more, but start on the low end) into couscous, or chicken, or sprinkle over potatoes being stuck in the oven. Whatever. It’ll make most cooked-food-type things taste better. And again, lasts forever on the shelf.

If  you can have eggs (goodness knows they’re sometimes expensive), dump some tomato sauce in a pan (tomato sauce lasts forever on the shelf), add some oil, onion/beans to cook in it, hot peppers if you wanna, then when it’s nearly ready crack an egg or two in. Hard-boiled eggs last a remarkably while in the fridge, so when eggs reach near the end of their usable lives, just hard-boil and stick in the fridge. (Have eggs as often as you can, particularly as you have brain-shit going on. You need all the eggs, salt, and 60%-or-more chocolate you can get. Brains are made of cholesterol and salt, so folks with neuro or other brain shit need more of both. Potassium is also aces. You know what has the most potassium? Tomato paste.) Grated cheese keeps in the freezer for ever. Grated cheese will make a lot of things taste nicer. Preserved lemon juice keeps forever in the fridge. Grated cheese + oil + lemon = instant and awesome pasta sauce that’ll liven up the weeks-old dry pasta in the fridge. Slices bread also keeps well in the freezer. Try to have half a loaf or a loaf. Dry bread gets cut in cubes, mixed with oil and the aforementioned instant soup, stuck in oven at lowest until properly dry, then kept in an airtight jar to add to soups. (Over-ripe tomatoes come cheaper. They get turned into soup or sauce, then frozen in portions.)

richie looks at him like he’s crazy

“r u serioud eddi every pard of ma badi hurts”

eddie feels so bad for him

“you don’t even have fresh air here richie so i am serious”

richie can’t take the fact that his boyfriend is such a knight in shiny armor

eddie leaves the bag for a moment to grab richie inside his blanket burrito and pull him up.

“ur gonna have to get rid of this blanket tho”

“no:(”

eddie looks at him

“srsly richie i can’t give you a ride on my bike you’re gonna fall down and roll down the hill”

“:(”

“i will give you my blanket once we’re there”

richie throws his blanket down way too fast and he starts feeling nauseous

the bike ride isn’t very aesthetic™ for him either bc his head is spinning and all of his muscles hurt and oh my gosh he’s doing his everything not to throw up on eddie’s back rn

eddie’s mom isn’t home so eddie can easily sneak richie in

he’s not sure how he’s gonna explain him living there until he’s healthy again tho

but he’s not gonna worry about that now

(fast forward;

i donT CARE THAT HE’S SICK AND INFECTED MOM,, i LoVE HiM!!!!)

so now they go into eddie’s room ( he’s basically holding richie up )

and richie settles down on eddie’s bed and eddie wraps him inside a blanket and richie is just smiling at him the whole time

“r u comfortable”

“very” richie says. the blanket smells like eds and he is in eddie’s bed. ofc he’s comfortable 

“here’s my laptop”

eddie hands him his macbook and goes to the kitchen to prepare the chicken soup. in the can. which eddie still thinks is unacceptable as he heats it up

“here”

richie is about to cry bc “did you really mage me chiggen soub”

eddie nods with a light frown like wtf obviously that’s what you eat when you’re sick

“there’s also ice cream”

“ice cream???”

“yeah it’s for the throat…???

eddie is kinda confused bc how can richie not know it helps

then it occurs to him that

richie doesn’t know, because

no one’s probably ever taken care of him when he’s sick????

i REPEAT, NO ONE’S EVER TAKEN CARE OF RICHIE TOZIER WHEN HE IS SICK

now eddie wants to cry

“scoot over”

he wants richie to be on the side next to the wall so he can lean his head on it if he wants to it’s more comfy  

with a lil trouble richie does move and eddie cuddles up next to him

literally cuddles

richie is SHOCKED

“are you sure u wanna do dat”

“100%”

richie wants to marry eddie

“wad r we watchin”

“kill bill”

“waid a minude… isn’d dis-”

“yours. yeah. i never watched it and i never gave it back so”

“u never watched dis?? oh my god eddi—”

“eat ur chicken soup and watch this movie with me now oKAY” eddie is a pissed off knight in shiny armor bc talking is just gonna exhaust richie more and he needs to get WELL

richie eats his soup and they watch the movie in silence,,,, glued to each other and at some point eddie realizes richie’s fallen asleep with his head resting towards eddie’s

eddie can’t move because he knows if he does he’s gonna wake up richie

but thankfully after like 15 minutes richie wakes up and he’s like “shid where am i”

“you’re with me”

he turns his gaze down at eddie and he remembers that yes,,, he is in fact with eddie and he just feels: ️️️️️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

well the weekend goes by and eddie goes hardcore nurse on richie and literally by sunday he is already pretty healthy like his voice is back to normal and so on

but… Oh… no

eddie and richie are eating in the kitchen

richie goes;

“baby can u pass me that ketchup”

“sure—”

SNEEZE

eddie’s eyes widen and he freezes in shock

richie looks at him like o'shit he done caught the flu

but then he starts to smile

“WELL I GUESS I WON’T BE GOING TO SCHOOL FOR ANOTHER WEEK”

“what do you mean?!?!?!”

“because obviously im gonna take care of u”

eddie is 😨😭💘😓😭💕😨😭💗

then later they tell the other losers why they’re both missing school and stanley uris wants to comment again

“so eddie u went to richie’s house??”

“yesh”

“and i thought i was romantic letting bill choose dinner”

Prom Headcanon + Reddie 

Richie asks Eddie out as a joke but he also wants to go with him because Eddie is his boi. 

So he just jokingly asks him out and laughs it off, to not make it obvious.

“Hey Eds, just imagine us being on the dance floor together, it’ll be hilarious, wanna go?”

And Eddie is??? why is he like this.

So Eddie goes like, “sure, pick me up at 7,”  while reading his book

And Richie is so shook???? because he didn’t expect Eddie to actually agree to his stupid idea, but he does. So Richie just replies with a, “Knew you wanted a piece of this dick.”

He gets slapped, hard, on the arm from Bev.

Richie gets tickets last minute to the dance and rents out a tux last minute from Bill because he really wants to try for Eddie, to make sure Eddie has a good night. So, really, its Richie being a mess all night because he wants to be good for Eddie - he wants to be good for himself.

The other losers help him plan his outfit; he gets Bill’s old tux, Bev helps him with his hair, Mike and Ben keep Eddie occupied, and Stan coaches Richie to breathe.

“Richie, everything will be fine if you don’t make dick jokes. Just tell Eddie how you feel, everything will be fine.”

“Stan, Stanley, the man, I’m freaked.”

But really, Richie could care less because he is so nervous atm, but he reaches Eddie’s house exactly at seven, not a moment late. He even got Eddie a corsage.

Though, he waits by the window, calls out for Eddie, and makes sure his heart isn’t bursting through his coat.

“Eds, spaghetti Eddie, bring your wholesome ass out here.”

And Eddie comes out, in all his glory, and really, Richie feels like he can’t breathe.

Because there is Eddie, standing there on the doorway, wearing a black tux, with his brown hair slowly curling around his ears and forehead - and Richie is so taken away because this small boy, his small boy, looks like an angel and Richie feels like he might cry.

Though, he sees Ms. K standing by the door, her face set in a stern line - and he’s really glad that Eddie started rebelling because Eddie is in a black tux, walking to Richie’s car, going to prom with him.

Richie tries hard, really, he does. But then he lets out that he got Eddie something and - well, it’s too late to back out now. “I, uh, got you a corsage.”

“Thanks chee,” Eddie says, his heart fucking bursting.

They get to the dance - both nervous to their core and Richie has no clue on what to do. So, he just stands there. faces Eddie and goes like ???

“Let’s just dance, I heard they’re playing the slow songs soon. It’ll be hilarious to see everyone tripping balls, come on.”

And then they’re dancing. At first its awkward, as neither boy knows where to put their hands, but really, they figure it out. 

They’re dancing, and suddenly, “Every breath you take,” by the Police starts, and really, now, for fucks sake, Richie actually can’t breathe.

The song reaches its chorus, and that’s when Richie realizes???? that it hits him full fucking force that he loves Eddie Kaspbrak????

Eddie, the boy that is currently in front of him, his hands around his shoulders, Richie’s hands on his waist. And Richie is so overwhelmed to the point he swears there’s a hint of gold in Eddie’s eyes.

So, he blurts it out, “I love you.”

And really, all Eddie can do is go like??? I know???

Richie is shook cause this boy, that Richie just realized that he loves, knows that Richie loves him; and really, that’s a lot of information to handle.

So, Richie just smiles, lets out a little laugh and says, “cute,” because he really doesn’t know what to do.

Eddie, being Eddie, blushes so hard, and lightly pecks Richie on the lips. “Calm down trashmouth.”

Richie smiles, and then furrows his eyebrows, “wait, does this mean you’re like my main chick now? cause I don’t know how Stan would feel about that.”

“I love you, but fucking beep beep baby.”

And Richie’s heart fucking melts.
