The most endearing thing about Ricky this episode is that you can see he is trying so hard to do everything right so Gina can shine as the lead. He first volunteers for LIAOD because Jet isnāt there and he feels it might work against Gina. He keeps supporting everything she says during practice. He walks out to continue practicing his lines because he wants to be the perfect partner for her on the play. He was so frustrated about Jet not showing up to rehearsals because it might affect Gina on her big break. He really wants everything to work out for her. It reminded me of Ricky supporting her idea for a choreography back in S2. He really believes in her talent and wants her to shine as Anna. He knows she deserves this.

been seeing people say that rickyās feelings have come out of nowhere as if he hasnāt been acting like this the entire time. being in awe of gina has been something weāve seen again and again since season 1 and was also shown in season 2. ricky wanting to be with her has also been shown again and again. ricky spent most of season 2 in a relationship, and then rest of it getting over that relationship. his feelings obviously werenāt going to be super obvious. i donāt understand the people who say it came out of nowhere when it clearly didnāt. you were just blind to it.

Tim Ferdele was asked about the 206 Rina Flashback on his interview with Seventeen Magazine, he said he wanted to show how some things happen behind the scenes and how multifaceted Gina is but also wanted to show with the performance that "every relationship may not pay off the way you want it to in the moment, but a lot of seeds have been planted that are gonna grow in the future." As a lot of people (Rina's) have been saying ā the Rina flashback wasnāt "closure" it only added more layers to their relationship.
Rina is the slow burn of HSMTMTS. Every scene with them has a strong meaning and their romantic arc could only work if they grow as individuals first. Thereās a reason they have so many parallels and layers to every interaction. Thereās still a lot to come.

IT'S JUST INSANE, I'LL NEVER SURVIVE THROUGH SEASON 3
an early viewer whoās a hardcore rina saying s3 is her favorite just based off the first three episodes oh iām grinning
as someone who used to ship pw, rewatching both seasons of hsmtmts has made me question if i was like, alright at the time??? the shift in writing quality was harmful to the show and pw is a PRIME example of what happens when you attempt to push a poorly written pairing. the writers relied SO heavily on āit happened off-screen, just trust usā convention with them and it just added onto the list of reasons as to why everyone asked for them to NOT become a thing. a quarter of their ādevelopmentā wasnāt even seen, their big first kiss moment wasnāt big or much of a moment, and gina and ej just have a general lack in chemistry. and thatās not even compared to RINA, even nini and ricky looked like felt some kind of genuine feeling toward each other at one point, but every single aspect of pw feels scripted. pw canāt even compare to rina as itās concerned to chemistry, the fact that other shippers claim they can top rina in WRITING and pacing is seriously funny to me.

literally most of their development happened offscreen and the fact weāll see rina develop as a ship this season,,, i just KNOW their story, development and pacing is gonna be SO good im so ready
