Ever since the merge and the dead returning – with each Gemini Coven member coming back to life, Josie could feel their magic coursing through her own body. Since then, she’s done everything she could to bring back her sister all while avoiding her parents. Directly or indirectly, she killed her own sister, not only could she not stand herself but she couldn’t stand to look at her parents, seeing the disappointment and grief. “Dad.” Surprise is in her tone as her eyes fall anywhere but his own, “Sorry I was just – I’ll see you later.” 

In some ways, Alaric lost both of his daughters when they had to merge. Lizzie was dead and gone- Josie was just gone. Not physically, but emotionally- in a larger sense. He was grateful for any time that she would spend with him. He smiled at her, even as she tried to make a quick exit. “Wait, Josie. Have some dinner with your old man? Please?”

the heretic watched the scene from a distance. a school for gifted, what a joke. what the male told the other should have been something her parents should have heard many years ago. it’d presumably not change anything because they were more special than she was. when the male turned around and almost running into her, a growl escaped from her throat ❝ you better be ❞ she commented, eyebrows raising ❝ perhaps you could ask a witch to give you eyes behind your head ❞ she suggested, very serious about it ❝ you give out cards for some kind of school for the gifted? what does that mean… people who are born supernaturals and turned? ❞ it sounded interesting and at the same time odd.

Her response to his honest mistake was kind of rude but Alaric had mellowed in his later years. “I have two twin girls and took care of a Mikaelson prodigy. I think I already have eyes in the back of my head. I didn’t run into you, did I?” He plucked another card from his shirt pocket and offered it to her. “Yeah, that’s exactly what it is. I’m a human and my girls are siphons. My wife died and their other mother is a vampire.” Saying it all outloud made him sound like a crazy person, and he just realized it. “Basically, a friend and I started a school for those like us.”

he could never imagine losing his daughter, hope.  dying for her was easy and he knew he would not hesitate to do it again if it meant her staying alive.  the original hybrid knew that if the air ever cease to pass through her lungs he would set fire to the city and everything in it.   ❝ i’m sure any good you see in her is that of her mother.   ❞  he smiled lightly.  ❝ you looked after my daughter when i could not; i am in your debt.  ❞ he added. 

Alaric would have died in a heartbeat if that meant both of his daughters would survive the merge. As it was, he was powerless and could only allow his children to magically bond. He had met Hayley and had comforted Hope after her death. Still, the Klaus that stood before him now was not the Klaus he’d met a long time ago. “I don’t think I believe that.” He didn’t elaborate, only trusted Klaus to read from it what he wanted. “Tell you what, anything happens to me, you look after Josie, and we’re straight.”

“I don’t know what happened. The twins merged and we lost Lizzie. We left after that.” He nodded. “Yeah, that’s understandable. She’s incredible, Klaus. No matter what anyone thinks, whether it’s because of you or in spite of you, she is your daughter.”

Lizzie was tempted to throw a silent spell the starer’s way, but she knew she couldn’t. Not only was she feeling too weak to even try to siphon off of someone else, she wasn’t sure what was going on. She wasn’t sure if the reason she came back made her sister die or what. And she wasn’t about to do anything that would jinx that. The human finally walked away when she heard a voice behind her. She barely had time to turn around when she was picked up and swung in the air, the hug nearly crushing her lung. “It won’t be me for much longer if you don’t stop crushing me.” She muttered, but wrapped her arms around her father all the same. “I’ve missed you, dad.”

He immediately loosened his grip on her when she spoke. He could not be happier than he was in this moment. “Sorry, couldn’t help it. What is this? How are you back?” He had seen Klaus who he knew to be dead, so he was glad he wasn’t the only one.

brows arched when he heard that his daughter was here in new orleans. the original hybrid feeling a small sense of relief.  ❝ a day—maybe two,  who knows ? the days seem to blur. together here  ❞  he answered.  

“I brought her with me when we left Mystic Falls.” He opened his phone and navigated to Hope’s phone number. “You can reach her at this number. I guess she doesn’t know you’re back. I can give her a heads up if you want.”

“I’m not saying that you’re current private school isn’t enough to teach your child. What I am saying is that the academy for the gifted goes beyond just that. We deal with very special students.” He handed the parent a card. “We can help. Just think about it.” He let them leave before turning, nearly running into the other. “Whoa, sorry.” He mumbled.

“You’d think by now the lot of you would just realize that even when it’s ten to my one – I can, and I will still kill you without even blinking an eye.” She wasn’t surprised to find her welcoming party in the city to be made up of enemies she’s once killed before. She sees movement from the corner of her eye before one decides to charge at her then, in one movement Rebekah rips his heart out. “Nine, now. I’d advise you to not be foolish and just leave. Alaric had forgotten the more violent side of the originals. He had met the ones that were still alive through Hope. Hope had given them something they never got from each other- humanity, perspective. Still, this crew was vampires, and Rebekah was defending herself. The group scattered, and Alaric approached the original. “Was that really necessary?”

Blue eyes squinted in the sun, as the blonde stood in the middle of the street. Glaring at anyone who passed by her who gave off a hint of annoyance, Lizzie was at a loss. She was supposed to be dead, supposed to not be alive. When she first opened her eyes she thought she was a ghost, cursed to roam the earth without anyone being able to see her as her twin lived on. But then she found out that wasn’t true, that people could see and hear and feel her. It was odd stepping into Mystic Falls and seeing it a ghost town; the one place she felt comfort she couldn’t go to. She had remembered Josie taking a trip to New Orleans so that was where she went next, hoping to find someone she knew that could help her. 

“Listen, street rat. Stop staring or I’ll make you regret it.” She called out, glaring at the person who had stopped completely, feeling their stare at the back of her head.

Alaric was forced to rebuild his entire life. When the girls turned 22, they merged and Josie was the one to survive. He struggled to rebuild what was left of his life. How could he, without more parts of him than he actually had left? Mystic falls was too hard with the memories so he moved his family and his academy for the gifted to New Orleans. He was walking down the street when he heard a very familiar voice. It was a voice he’d heard in his mind many times since her death. This, though, was not in his mind. He found her with his eyes, then practically ran to her, picking her up in a hug. “Oh my god, Lizzie. Please tell me it’s really you.”
