It took her a second to realize the woman was probably directing that near her, since she was the closet person by her. “Some people like the cold. Find it comforting even.” Calamity states. “Or simply the cold just doesn’t bother them. I once knew a girl who’d wear shorts and crop tops in the dead of winter, snow and all.”

Lea had to nod, following Calamity’s gaze out over the snow as they stood together on her fire escape. It was stupid, really, to expect that Gotham would ever be anything close to a perfect world… and there was so little they could do themselves to make it any better…

“Where would you go,” she inquired after a moment, “if you could go anywhere else? Just to…get away from everything here?”

Calamity thought about her question. It was a surprisingly hard one to answer.

“I......This might sound girl-ish or naive, but it doesn’t matter where I go. It doesn’t even matter if I ever leave this city or if I stay and rot here. I just want to be with the people I love and that love me. I have no other want than that.” She states bluntly.

“Well, if no one else is going to toast to such a beautiful song, I will,” Barbara smiled back, passing Calamity a glass across the table. It was true—the girl did have a lovely voice, so much softer and sweeter than Ollie’s upbeat jazzy sound. And while the Commissioner’s daughter didn’t usually drink, this felt like enough of a special occasion to make an exception.

“I don’t care for drinking, but I’ll agree to humor you.” Calamity states as she takes the glass. She’s learned that it’s best to keep a clear head, even if you are the only one with such. “Why people would want to hear such a saddening song while they drink away their sadness, I’ll never know.”
