At the superb Silent Wings (WWII Glider) Museum in Lubbock. Dedicated to Waco and Horsa gliders and the unfathomably brave men who piloted these amazingly frail aircraft. Once they crash landed these things, the pilots became infantry soldiers behind enemy lines. Glider pilots easily had the most dangerous job in WWII.

Spending day in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. We hiked the six mile round trip to the amazing Lighthouse formation. Cynthia is pointing to the Big Cave. And at the top right, God lights Roger's cigar.

Holy Hell, the wind is gusting up to 60 mph. We decided to hide out at the Big Texan Discount Motel and Livery Stable rather than die in a ditch like penniless vagrants. This place is hilarious; everything is either mock suede or rustic hardwood.

We were headed to Groom on I-40 but the wind is gusting to 40mph. Time to grab lunch at the Big Texan on the old Route 66 where Texas is a religion that worships the gods of cattle, oil, and high school football. We got to witness a guy undertaking the 72-ounce steak challenge. He failed, of course. (click on the panorama photos to expand and pan)
