I always felt this way. Lowkey, Kid Cudi has influenced this whole wave of emo, psychedelic, emotional music that rappers is on nowadays.

Cudi influenced Kanye musically during the 808s & Heartbreak era. Even though the project was based around his mother’s death and breaking up with his fiancee at the time, Cudi was there during the process of making the album giving Ye that certain sound that we know Cudi for. That album ended up being considered a classic and one of the most influential albums of this time.

And even now with the major influence Travi$ Scott has on Kanye, from the Yeezus era to now, Travi$ pretty much made it known that Kid Cudi is one of his favorite rappers ever and one of, if not, his biggest influence musically.

So even if Cudi is not around G.O.O.D. Music anymore and he hasn’t put out the strongest body of work since Man on the Moon II, his presence and influence is felt musically throughout rap.

So in words of A$AP Rocky, Cudi is father to most of you niggas and yall need to pay homage.
