being a library science student.
I want to talk about my major, my study. We called it Library Science. But, before I talk about it, have you ever heard that study in uni?
“What? Is that even exist?”
Lmao. You’re not the first person who don’t know the existence of Library Science, hahaha. And that’s totally okay. That’s why I am here, though. I will educate you guys, or at least to inform you, by talking a little bit about my study, Library Science. Especially how it looks like in my point of view as its student. (๑´ڡ`๑)
Actually, the name tell itself. Library Science. Yes, we learn about library―the philosophy, process, management, promoting, networking, etc. Basically, we learn about information, especially how we manage them. In library itself, the management focus on the books and others library collections. So, you can call it we learn to manage books and other library collections.
One quick question: have you ever visit a library and recognise the labels on the side of its books? The activity to find numbers and letters written on that labels is called cataloging. We learn that here. In my uni, I learnt it in a semester (4 months long), and I got 3 credits from that.
But, funfact, besides library science, we―or at least students in my uni―also learn about archival which is talking about information too. In library we talk about books and its other collections, in archival we talk about document, records, etc. We also learn about information and technology, but only a little bit of it. A friend of mine said one of her reasons why she chose this major because it has information and technology courses. She is really into it.
Hm? Why I choose this major?
I will write about it another time. (*´ω`*)
