to be far away || flotsam & meg
Ā Slowly standing up, Meg crossed her arms in an effort to keep herself warm as much as a display of frustration. As the kid sat there on the ground somewhat uselessly, she was almost tempted to ask if he was okay after falling off that ledge- after all, he looked dizzy- but the feeling quickly passed as soon as he started, well, talking. āItās, you know,Ā lovely that youāre enjoying āpeace and quietā by illegally smoking- and yes, I know you sixth year because youāre not in my year and youāre too old to be fifteen- but have you considered the fact that itās not the best idea to smoke around the owls? They might get⦠owl lung cancer or something. I couldnāt care less about you.ā
Meg turned around to pick up her bag, quickly shoving all her books and scraps of paper back inside. āNot that itās any of your business, but I was coming up here- again, and exactly like I said, like, the other day- to see if my owl has made another appearance.ā She glared down at him. āActual important stuff." Brushing some dirt off her coat, Meg mentally congratulated herself on managing to make it through a significant number of sentences without getting tongue twisted or making some terrible allusion. Talking wasnāt her strong point.
"It's not illegal. Against school rules, oh yeah, but illegal? Not at all." He had to stop himself from laughing at her next comment, instead resorting for a slight smirk and an eye-roll. "I'm pretty sure I'm not going to give owls lung cancer. And besides, all these fucking pests hate me so much, they'd never come close enough to get cancer even if I wanted them to."
"I don't think your owl being missing for two days isĀ important stuff. It's a bird, and this is a fuckin' huge school, it's probably sulking in a corner somewhere." He muttered, scowling as he realised his cigarette had gone out, squashing it into the ground before reaching into his jacket pocket for another one.
