Despite his bashfulness rising slightly higher than usual quantities, the massive Olog gave in and, with as much care as he could manage with so great a frame, positioned himself beside Goldberry. “’m ‘fraid I’ve only known that luxury after a full day in the fightin’ rings,” Bruce admitted, a sheepish half-hearted grin stretching his lips as he still failed to fully grasp why she was being so kind. “Ye reckon it’s because the west has more resources, or-” he asked, trailing off. The west was obviously… greener. He hadn’t seen a full, ancient forest before he escaped the ashy mountains of Mordor.
Still, taking Goldberry’s eating as a cue, Bruce sniffed then albeit hesitantly bit into the bread with the… strange stuff on the food. He had expected something sharp or even unpleasant. It wasn’t. The bread possessed a fluffier, richer texture than any of the coarse grain fed in the camps. The condiment on the bread was smooth and pleasant. It wasn’t animal fat- not as salty or heavy-tasting. “This-” he swallowed, remembering his manners. “This is really good! What is this? On the bread, I mean?”
The River Daughter looks more than pleased at his reaction and lets out a delighted laugh, reminiscent of water bubbling as it flows downstream. “Just simply butter and honey. The butter I had to make myself with milk and cream but the honey -- which, is my absolute favorite, by the way -- I got from a friend in the Shire who takes care of the bees.”
Goldberry finishes off her piece of bread and sits back on her hands, smiling up at the Olog -- and who would have thought; the River Daughter taking a meal with one of the trollfolk of all beings! “Perhaps,” she replies to his first query. “Although, this land used to be even more abundant, though considerably more wild. This forest used to stretch across the West and even beyond when the Sea was lower and the land underneath dry enough to walk upon. Even so, I can’t imagine Mordor has no resources at all what with all the ash coming out from that mountain and the lake -- I think they call it ‘Núrnen’ now -- being right there. Even things meant for ill often have unexpected good results... Ah! There I go rambling again.” She then makes to pour, from the pitcher, water of the clearest, freshest quality into the two cups she’s brought. “Feel free to continue helping yourself. Even if you finish it all, I have plenty more where that came from.”

Unnecessarily Detailed Dislikes
Please repost, don’t reblog. Answer the questions for your muse and tag some people.
Muse name: Goldberry (in every language and tongue)
Least favorite nickname: None. She loves all her nicknames.
Least favorite color: She doesn’t dislike a single color. They’re all her favorite. But if she had to pick one: red.
Least favorite season: She loves all seasons but winter sometimes freezes the rivers which make it a bit difficult for her to travel quickly.
Least favorite weather: She loves all weather. Though, blizzards can make it a bit hard to get places.
Least favorite—hot or cold: Cold if she had to pick one.
Least favorite holiday: She loves any and all holidays!
Least favorite food: She’s definitely tasted orc made bread before. She’s not a fan
Least favorite flavor: Anything really metallic.
Least favorite drink: She loves drinks! If she had to pick one, maybe really hard dwarf liquor.
Least favorite scent: Rot and decay smell.
Least favorite sound: Black speech is not something she’s fond of at all.
Least favorite book: None as of yet, though she doesn’t really read books all that much.
Least favorite movie: Modern Goldberry would not find any horror movie fun.
Least favorite tv show: Anything with horror in it.
Least favorite school subject or area of study: She’s never attended school but she likes learning and would be interested in all subjects.
Least favorite aspect of their job: Probably constantly having to persuade Old Man Willow to leave people alone. She understands why the tree is grumpy but really wishes that it would exercise some control on it’s temper.
Least favorite fictional character: Fictional characters?
Least favorite person: Goldberry doesn’t feel hate but she certainly isn’t fond of minions or masterminds of evil.
Least favorite trait in others: Probably dishonesty. Why lie when the truth will always come out in the end?
Least favorite place: She’s never set foot in Mordor but she’s certain she wouldn’t like it.
Least favorite thing to talk about: Violence and sadness. She has no problem at all listening to these things from others because sometimes they need to be spoken of but she will never be the one to direct a conversation in the direction of these topics.
Least favorite thing about themselves: She has no least favorite thing. She loves herself totally and completely as she is. :)
Least favorite sexual position: None lol. She’s an adventurous lady in the bedroom.
Least favorite daily chore: None. She makes all her chores extremely fun for herself.
Least favorite style of clothing: Anything that’s easy to trip over. Flowing fabrics and trails are pretty and good but if you keep tripping over yourself then what’s the point?
Least favorite activity: Nothing really.
Least favorite superpower: Sometimes she forgets she’s not wearing a physical form and it can spook people but, other than that, she has no real issues.
Least favorite thing about humanity in general: Probably the desire to achieve power no matter the cost. She can’t understand why people would go to such violent ends to become more than they already are.
Least favorite thing about being in love: She loves being in love and everything about love so long as the relationship is good. She has never been in a bad romantic relationship but she can and does see how it can be so easily twisted around in the wrong way.
Least favorite thing about death: Missing the person who is gone.

it mah borfday!!
i just need to say that waltzing into lothlorien to leave gifts for galadriel merely because she’s pretty is a big goldberry mood
goldenglorfindel:
Having met the formidable Maia on a few occasions now, Glorfindel couldn’t help but give Goldberry a look at her question and a raise of brows. “For you?” he said, “I think that if you offer him pretty and shiny things or not he’ll still do your bidding. I doubt very much you have anything to worry about in that respect.” He didn’t say it, for the water was far too close and he didn’t wish for ears that might be listening to bear his words back to the unpredictable water-lord, but simply by virtue of being one of his own kind and water-loving at that, would be perfectly adequate for her to gain his favour. Especially considering being not-Noldor was almost usually enough in and of itself.
“It’s difficult enough to agree on a time to go,” he said after a breath, a sigh escaping in a long breath as he sat back some. “It’s a wonder we’re leaving at all; the requests for aid from the new kingdoms are already piling up on my desk and replying that we cannot help is sitting more and more uncomfortably. It’s little wonder that Elrohir and Elladan have opted to remain.” For now he hoped, for they were all devastated at the second blow, already loosing Arwen. It hurt, but perhaps this parting would not be a forever one.
“Ah, but it seems so presumptuous of me to simply assume he would simply do it if I but asked. Even those of the sea can be busy with other things. Besides, I like giving people presents.”
The river daughter resumes she not-quite-so-aimless dancing about until she takes another pause at his words and stretches her fingers skywards, as if reaching for something unseen, before allowing her arms to drop back down to her sides again. “Eventually all that remain will have to learn to stand on their own two feet. And with the Shadow receding from this part of the world more and more I think they’ll find less trouble doing so than would be thought. You all may be leaving these lands but things here are already sprouting anew.”
She knows very well that what once was can not quite ever be in the same way again. But that holds no sorrow for her like it does for others. Though she holds past memories to her heart, new things have always brought her joy and much to satisfy her curious nature. Still, she understands why some are more hesitant to face new beginnings or to leave anything or anyone behind.
“There’s always hope for the future, for who knows what the future could bring! It might be painful, yes, there’s always a fear for that. Buuuuut~!” Her smile grows brighter as she moves to stand in front of him again. “It could also bring happy things as well. Partings are sad but you no longer have to hold onto the fabled weight of the world as well. Is it not better hold onto hope for happier things to come instead? I wouldn’t have you leave with nothing but frowns on your faces.”
i’m not saying you should invite goldberry to your wedding
but you should absolutely invite goldberry to your wedding because she will absolutely support the happy couple 100000% and will make your reception/party more fun
elenhest:
“You… don’t need to breathe?”
Her steps slow, only barely, as she looks up at Goldberry with brows furrowed. Doesn’t everything need to breathe?
“H- how can you live, if you don’t need to breathe?” she asks quietly, watching the ground now for anything that might trip her, or any little animals that she ought to avoid stepping on. “And if you don’t need to breathe, why do you on land?”
“I am not a being like you are, little one. I do not always appear as you see me now, or even have to appear at all.”
But there is no hint of shame or unease in her voice as she speaks more of herself -- how can Goldberry be anything but happy to be as she is?
“You can touch my hand now, yes? But sometimes, I can be with someone but they shan’t see me at all, though I’d never do that when I’m with you as I like interacting with you, sweeting. Think of the way you see me now as a sort of tool for me to properly talk with you. As for breathing as I am now... Well, breathing in fresh air like this feels good to you after being indoor sometimes, yes? I get that feeling all the time when I breathe. So I do it because I like to.”
therapardalis:
“Oh, not at all!” The woman (Elf? Fairy?) is even tinier at ground level, and Thera swings down from Mithril’s back the better to talk somewhat eye to eye. “Made me jump a little, but nothing I won’t get over.” There’s thoughtfulness in her eyes as she pauses a moment. Her sudden companion knows the Hobbits and their songs, which is always a fair sign, and again the gelding has both ears pointed forward and shows no fear.
“Hobbits enjoy pretty much anything after a few ales.” And if only more peoples had that philosophy for life, Middle Earth would be a happier place. “Now, forgive me - my name is Thera. And I must ask,” There’s no insult either taken or put forward in her tone, only curiosity, “‘people such as myself’?” It’s clear already there’s difference between them, and it’s a gentle invitation to explain.
“Well, shouldn’t most anyone enjoy pretty much anything after a few drinks? I wouldn’t know -- such brews are to me as mere water is to you, only much tastier depending on the beverage.”
A giggle escapes her though she does have the good grace to at least try and stifle it. Though she does look thoroughly apologetic as her ever-present smile turns rather wry looking.
“Ah, forgive me, what I mean by that is people people. Men, Elves, Hobbits, Dwarves. Folk that go about in a physical body and live their lives within the world but not as a direct part of it. Let’s see how to put it...”
The small maiden thinks for a brief moment, tapping a finger to her chin and rocking on the balls of her feet, before speaking again.
“You have a body yes? You go about in it and you are purely yourself. I have a body only by choice. I can cast it off if I wish and go unseen to your eyes. Sometimes I forget myself and think not of those who might think it a bit odd for someone to appear suddenly and seemingly out of thin air. It is natural to me but certainly not to you. I didn’t think to ‘put on’ this form so to speak until I saw you beneath me.”
