Hearing the bell of the door ring as you walked in made you smile, despite it being known as one of the boringest places on earth. You promised yourself that you would leave the precinct during your much needed break, just a quick stop by the bank to cash in a paycheck. Nothing more— was what you told yourself of course. You were hoping the cute boy sitting at his designated booth could make your short stop a bit longer.
As you walked up to Jungwon’s desk, you could only make out his scruffy black hair and the shirt you chose for him that morning since his head was down, busy with endless paperwork for different personal clients.
Catching his attention by lightly knocking on his table, you laughed as his eyes eyes lit up at the sight og you. “Baby? What are you doing here?” You quickly flashed your paycheck.
“As much as I would love to say I was just visiting you, I have some stuff to do.” He smiled warmly at that, watching you slide the paper in front of him. Before you pulled away, he lightly held your hand and kissed your ring finger, a habit he had been doing since he proposed to you two months before.
Four years with your fiancé and he still never failed to make you blush.
“My detective’s gotta work, I can’t blame you much.” you couldn’t help but giggle.
“I’ll cash this, and then I’ll be all yours. Go get yourself some coffee, get warm, and then I’ll go on my break in five.” You hummed, grabbing his face with one hand landing a small kiss, bidding him a short farewell before walking over to the cozy coffee station.
You and Jungwon happened to meet around your first semester of sophomore year. Admittedly, you wished you had crossed paths in a cuter way, (and not at a frat party your roommate dragged you to) but despite the unromantic first impression of him holding your hair back while you yacked everywhere, he made sure to take your number after he dropped you home to make sure you were okay afterwards. That was always the kind of person he was– the once cute, kind accounting major that constantly worried about your fascination for criminology was now the handsome lead accountant at a government bank constantly worried about your love for solving crime.
You couldn’t help but check your watch, half-hoping this errand wouldn’t last too long as you added milk to your coffee. Not that you didn’t want to see your fiance, no, that might’ve been the best part of your day so far. Unfortunately, the day had been a little more mundane than usual. It’s not like you expected anything more than that.
But then you heard the first scream.
The crack of a body falling to the ground suddenly sounded like the loudest thing in the room, and the chaos that followed it was quick to come. Someone had locked all the doors from the outside, so no one could go in or out.
Immediately, you sprung into action and ordered for the people around you to get down, calling for backup like you were trained to do.
You hid behind the corner wall, pulling out the gun from your holster. You didn’t even think it was loaded— technically, you were off the clock.
Your eyes were trained on Jungwon, who was frantically looking for you while crouched behind his desk. ‘As long as he was okay, I am too,’ you thought. You slowly stalked toward the table he was stationed behind until you caught a silhouette move behind him. Your eyes widened as your body moved; you couldn’t even think. You stretched to your full height and ran until you reached his desk.
“Y/n? No, no, get back!” He yelled as he too, stood to his full height. His hand was fully outstretched, eyes wide with complete worry— then shock.
Jungwon stilled, his once extended hand slowly moved down to hold his stomach where a large blooming red patch of blood stained his shirt.
And suddenly, to you, time stopped.
He looked back up at you, tears in his eyes and blood spitting out of his mouth. There was this mutual understanding that this was your last moment with each other. Not growing old, in sickness and in health with him.
The sound of his body hitting the tile was louder than the screams around you. You felt your chest tighten, and for a heartbeat, the world was just him, and him leaving.
Amidst the chaos, you looked up, standing face-to-face with a taller figure where the love of your life once was. Your eyes were blown and full of tears, mouth slightly agape, and adrenaline sharpened your senses. Lifting your empty gun, your hands never trembled despite knowing it was helpless.
The man didn’t move when Jungwon dropped to the ground before him.
His face was completely covered, a bandage wrapped entirely around it except for small slits where his eyes would be and his streaked hair peaking out. He wasn’t frantic, or anything you recognized. He was just still, simply watching your every move.
“Identify yourself,” you felt yourself say, though your voice was reduced to a whisper and was swallowed by the screaming around. The man moved closer, head tilting slightly. You thought he was amused, but his eyes were incredibly soft. Your grip tightened.
“Identify yourself—!” Police sirens started to fill the surrounding streets, but he was entirely trained on you. His eyes trailed down to your hands, almost fascinated by the way your fists were incredibly still.
The chaos didn’t pause for him. The screaming continued and the sirens were blaring, yet somehow, in that terrifying stillness between you two, he didn’t touch you. His eyes met yours once again— then he nodded, and walked away unhurried.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding and dropped your gun, every nerve still alive with adrenaline. You acted like you always did: entirely on instinct, as you ran behind the counter.
When the ambulance and police bolted inside, they found you cradling Jungwon's lifeless body in a pool of his own blood.
The eyewitnesses took your faceoff as the reason why the man left. The people would later call it bravery, the news would call it luck, and some theorists even called it planned. But you don’t think you could ever forget that day. The quiet tilt of his head.

hi guys, i redownloaded tumblr again just to make this statement but heeseung leaving enhypen has caught many of us off gaurd. i think everyone is devasted by this and yes i know everyone is thinking about a future with enhypen as six and honestly I don’t want that either.
i came here to spread awareness about what we could do as a fandom. please refer to this thread first of all.

came back to say enhypen will ALWAYS be seven, regardless of whatever’s official or what’s not.
it honestly feels like i grew up with all seven. i got into them when i was 15 and im turning 20 this year, so ultimately i attach them to my teen years entirely. now knowing that we’ll never get enhypen as a whole again… it almost feels like im watching my youth slip away from me. i know im not the only that feels like this, and that might be why this situation feels a lot heavier than normal. it’s not odd or weird to feel upset, because we’ve grown comfortable with enhypen as seven and heeseung being a source of comfort for us all. he has provided millions and millions of people comfort during their darkest times including myself, and for that, i owe him and enhypen a lifes worth of gratitude.
unfortunately, it is that deep, and unfortunately, the decision for heeseung to leave enhypen was extremely sudden and imo a little inconsiderate to the fans that would do anything to support him. i fully think belift is the worst company to ever exist (sm is a suuuper close second), and i DEFINITELY think they’re sabotaging heeseung/enha as a whole because of creative differences. at the same time, we don’t actually know what’s going on, what the future entails for the group and for us.
i think this is a good time for everyone to focus on themselves and remember that unfortunately this is an awful industry at the end of the day. love u all and if anyone wants to vent or talk abt anything my asks and dms are always always always open (:
