lil pining!cyrus drabble that no one asked for
Cyrus was totally, 100% fine with keeping things between him and TJ on the down-low while they were figuring things out between them. However, it were moments like these that made it particularly hard to restrain himself from just running right up to the boy and either kissing him or hugging the life out of him. Either would work just fine.
He was chatting with Marty as he waited in the cafeteria line, all smiles and bright green eyes, and that was already bad enough in itself. When he ran his fingers casually through his dirty blonde hair, following this up with an airy laugh, Cyrus was forced to abandon his conversation with Andi entirely. He stared over her shoulder, face tinged red, and rested his chin on his hands with a lovesick sigh.
Andi paused, turning around to look at what had suddenly captured his attention, and she let out an amused scoff when her eyes found TJ amongst the crowd.
“I’m starting to think he could breathe and you’d die somehow.”
Cyrus opened his mouth to respond, but closed it again when TJ repeated the action, running a careless hand through his hair.
“Oh my god. Andi, if you’re taking ideas for your next art piece-“
“I’m not starring TJ in an art piece,” she interrupted, laughing slightly at the dopey smile on his face.
“That’s okay,” he answered, still staring across the room, “he’s already art, anyway.”
TJ must’ve eventually felt the weight of Cyrus’ gaze on him, because he looked over and an even brighter smile appeared on his face as he gave Cyrus a cute little wave.
“Okay!” he announced, dropping his head gently down against the table with a thud, “that’s it. I’m dead.”
“Ugh, but I don’t know CPR,” Andi whined. Cyrus’ responding laughter was muffled slightly by the arm he had out in front of him.
Within a matter of thirty seconds TJ was approaching their table, his expression a mixture of both confusion and amusement.
“Uh...are you okay there, Cy?”
That had him jolting slightly, lifting his head and offering the boy an embarrassed smile.
“Yeah! Yeah, totally,” he insisted, and TJ just lifted a playful eyebrow.
“Okay,” he answered slowly, gently biting his lip, “I’ll see you after class, yeah?”
With that, he was pushing the hair back from his forehead and walking back towards Marty, who seemed to have dissolved right into laughter.
Cyrus looked after him, eyes wide, and Andi snorted.
“Was...that on purpose?” he stammered.
Andi smiled. “I think Marty must’ve told him about your biggest weaknesses.”
Cyrus nodded calmly as he pulled out his phone, tapping on Marty’s contact.
Cyrus: have you been telling tj any compromising information recently? :)
Cyrus: mARTY HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO *NOT* KISS MY BOYFRIEND AT SCHOOL WHEN HES OUT HERE RUNNING HIS HAND THROUGH HIS HAIR AND BITING HIS LIP LIKE THAT
Cyrus: okay then bye, i’m telling buffy how cute you find it when she twirls her hair and does her lil head tilt thing!!
