it’s just everything about the rebirth of it all. taking the season where rebirth is already one of the central themes and pulling it further. starting the season at the turn of the new year, making blooming flowers a key symbol. the first kiss (presumably) happen on ivan’s birthday. not to mention the way the season will run from the depths of winter to the first hints of spring, we’re literally watching the world be reborn as lovro is reborn into a person who’s not afraid anymore

Rewatching Skam season 4 and still so disappointed at the bench season, because it had the potential to be so good. Isak and Sana's friendship is such an important part of the show and it IS great to see genuine discussion between people who, while experiencing different types of discrimination, can relate to and learn from each other.

So, Isak being a white gay guy who gives his perspective on Sana's situation is not the core issue. What kills it for me is how he immediately dismisses Sana's struggles with racism as if she's making it up, uses news articles about ISIS as a justification for Islamophobia, and tells her that she is responsible for preventing people from making their own racist assumptions.

There is definitely some truth to what Isak is saying, especially the part about finding hate if you look for it. But it felt like Julie Andem forgot how kind Sana actually is. Throughout the show Vilde constantly says extremely ignorant things to Sana, but Sana knows that she has no ill intent and stays friends with her (and is willing to correct her on her assumptions). And in season 3, Sana realizes Isak's criticisms of religion were from his personal struggles and makes the effort to prove her own claims about evolutionary theory wrong.

Sana already understood, to some extent, that ignorance does not always come from malice. I think this message could still have been delivered to her, but not in a way that painted her as irrationally angry toward white people, because she was never like that.

I've recently watched hsmtmts and I related so much to two specific characters. These two characters made me feel so seen and, as someone who had hardly found people who understood me, I really wished these two characters interacted and bonded over their common struggles... Honestly, with these two characters, I saw a lot of potential as a friendship and even more... I think they could've been a really good ship, but they didn't interact much in the show, they had no meaningful interactions and yet, a lot of times when I watched scenes of character A, made me think of character B. In my opinion, this ship is a version of rina if they barely interacted and never opened up to each other... I think this ship could've been the second best ship on the show after rina. I won't say which characters I'm talking about. I'm curious to see if you can figure it out :) I know it's kinda vague, but maybe you will ;) And even if you guess other two characters, I'm always intrigued to see potential in what the writers didn't see.

my mind is so far removed from hsmtmts at this point but i tried to put some thought into it. this being in my inbox specifically makes me think ej has to be one of them, and the only ej ship i can think of that really seems like what you’re describing is elos so my only guess i could muster would be ej and carlos lol
