Hard to tell if authors are using AI for fanworks or if I’m just super sensitive to AI style writing that like list of threes and m dash combo that’s so prevalent in AI writing but several works have smacked of AI influence lately and they are all more recent. Either way it’s a fucking bummer. I can’t think of anything stupider and more pointless than using AI for fanfiction.

Just like putting this out there, that this is a relationship arc in a story and that it’s the BEGINNING of that arc. We JUST had Morph’s feelings vocalized and there are clear beats they are hitting and they were very much indicating that there is more to come, that Logan has a lesson to learn here, that there will be repercussions and resolutions in forthcoming episodes. This episode was setting that up not finalizing anything, and it’s clearly these character’s main storyline for the season considering they are both largely disconnected from the main big bad beyond general fighting with the team.

Best episode of S2 so far, the others were fine but this one felt truly connected to the characters and their relationships versus the big bad and the season needed that breathing room. Morph is really the heart of the X-men (or this version of them) and there was so much for them and it was so heartbreaking but also very grounded. It was one of those episodes that is very “This is what’s good about the X-Men” you have flashy fights and awesome combos and catastrophe on a cosmic scale but the main driver is their relationships with each other and their own traumas and issues.

As some of you know I’ve been working on learning art and improving my figure drawing in the hopes of one day making a graphic novel (one very far day) and in a gesture drawing class they recommended doing sequential figures of dancers or ice skaters, and of fucking course I immediately pulled up 2018 Rostelecom Cup Yuzuru Hanyu and this was a mistake cause I’m bawling my eyes out.

went to the shanty singing night again last night, and oh my gooooooodddd this is scratching the choral itch for me so perfectly??? i'm too busy with political organising to commit to any level of formal chorale that would be as musically rigorous as i'd like (yes i know i'm a fucking snob whatever i know it).

but let me tell you some of the harmonies we were hitting last night were downright sonorous???? completely fucking vibrated the walls they were so tight??? got those overtones humming in the ceiling tiles?????? spontaneous weaving around each others' harmonies and just fucking around and more than just occasionally striking gold lol.

and it's shanty singing so it's raucous, bellowing, full-throated -- we were hooting and hollering and stomping and beating the table to the rhythm and making these sick room-filling chords to a background track of '10 hours pirate ship on a stormy sea asmr study sounds' fucking amazing???

Have entered that fun AuADHD headspace where I’m like super hyperfixated on The Final Boss and Quirk: Explosion!!! For absolutely no good goddamn reason. I have watched those same scenes approx 1347 times and if I’m not watching them I’m either binging TodoBaku fanfic or listening to the same 3 songs from the S7 and a final season OSTs which are IN those scenes.

I’m not mad, I just recognize that it’s bizarre behavior.

I just love the American VA’s line deliveries, the sweeping score, the subtle little animation moments, seeing my favorite petulant little firework have his big character arc moment, seeing a major theme (one quirk in the hands of a hero vs all of them in the hands of a villain) come together in such a tidy and clear way.

It’s so great.
