About repost my artworks (and Japanese artist's artworks)

Please don’t “re-post” my paintings nor use my paintings as your avatar. (except for reblog, of course.) Not only me, almost all of Japanese artists don’t allow you to repost. If he/she allows it, they write so like “you can repost my artworks without my permission” on their home pages. (It’s a kind of Japanese custom*) If they don’t write it, you must not do it. Now, some Japanese artists are in trouble about the reposts. For Japanese artists, it’s a serious issue. Several artists may stop to draw arts because of the reposts. Please do not repost our(Japanese) artwoks. If you want to it, you must ask them whether you are allowed do it before you do it. Please.

When the reposted artworks are O.C, most of the problem may a copyright issue. But, when the artworks are fan arts, it has not only the copyright issue but the image issue. There are some artists (who paint artworks that is far from the original work), don’t want to show them to people who are not familiar with the works. The most important thing to draw and post artworks for some artists is that they can control their own artworks. Or, if 3rd party repost pics, the artists can’t get legitimate value. Of course, some artists may have other issue, most issue are the above.

On twitter, you can “RT”. It’s the most useful way to share amazing artworks on twitter, of course from the artists’s original posts. If some problem is happened, the artists can delete all of the RTs.

On Tumblr, you can “reblog”. the way is not so useful for some artists( because, if the artists delete the post, but the reblogs are never deleted.). However, the reblogs still contain the credits, you can jump to the artists page from the reblogs. And as you know, artists can see who rebloged it. In some cases, artists can block the users. Some of twitter users dislike Tumblr reblog system(because of the above function).

There are some artists who allow you to share only the post URL. There are some artists who allow you to share the pic with the artists name and page. We can’t be to know if the artists allow what until we ask. Before you do it, you must ask them, please. (Of course, you must read the artists home page. Some of them write note in English on the bottom.) We, almost Japanese are not good at English, but we’ve already have google translation. It helps our communicate.

Please don’t plunder motivations/intentions/will to paint the artworks from us.

*It seems English speakers tend to write Prohibitions, but Japanese tend to write “allowing items ”. *If Japanese write nothing, it means they don’t allow anything about repost, maybe.

About to repost my (our/Japanese) artworks. Please read it. (This is a page of my another blog.) It’s a serious issue for some artists. I think, almost Japanese artists don’t allow to repost artworks.

For Japanese, to write “don’t repost my artworks.”, it means, to write as if “My artwaorks are amazing and it’s difficul to stop reposting it, but you can’t do it.”. I believe the most easy way to stop reposting is to write prohibition. However, There are some Japanese don’t know about we have to write it. We should try to know each culture each other. I know it’s very difficult… (Only in my case, I had written prohibitions on the bottom in my page, but it’s an another case. )

Radio show: Moja-senpai to Sakura-kun (episode 168) Personalities: Sakura Ayane and Tone Kentarou Air date:　June 19, 2014

Sakura Ayane’s unconditional love (or obsession according to some), for Hanazawa Kana is well known, and she has openly and often expressed it over the years. Here’s her reaction when she hears that Hanazawa Kana went on an onsen trip with Uchiyama Yumi. In this radio corner, she’s eating something, so that’s why there is talk about chopsticks.

Tone Kentarou: A mail coming from Lobster-san, living in Miyagi prefecture.

*Sakura Ayane hums*

Tone: *hums same tune as Ayaneru* “Moja-senpai and Ayaneru, mojassu(1)! It seems that Hanazawa Kana-san and Uchiyama Yumi-san have…” *speaking to himself* Wouldn’t it be better if I didn’t read this? “…Hanazawa Kana-san and Uchiyama Yumi-san went on an onsen trip, just the two of them. This rumor originates from the Mayonaka Delivery radio show(2) where Nojo-san(3) spilled the beans during a bout of jealousy. Hanazawa-san also talked about an onsen trip on her radio. So Ayaneru obviously knew about this?” *to Ayaneru* So you knew about this?

“How would Ayaneru react if she heard that Hanazawa-san was being flirty with others? And if Hana-chan asked Ayaneru ‘Let’s take a bath together!’, what would she do?”

Huh? Ayaneru’s is looking strange right now… Not strange in the sense of when a Pokemon is about to evolve, but… L-let’s go over all of this, one point at a time. She really isn’t saying anything right now. Her eyes have been darting all over the place since I started reading this letter.

Did you know that Hanazawa Kana-san and Uchiyama Yumi-san went on an onsen trip together? You didn’t know? She’s shaking her head. Come on, say something! You’re not going to speak?

*asking radio staff* Was this for work or some sort of TV program? O-oh? It seems it could have been during their own free time? Wait a minute… Hanazawa Kana-san and Uchiyama Yumi-san were together outside of work?

*speaking to Ayaneru* Say that again? What happened indeed, eh? Seems like they went on a trip together. Oh! I just received breaking news! It seems that Uchiyama Yumi-san and Hanazawa Kana-san took a bath together.

*sound of Ayaneru dropping her chopsticks*

Tone: She just dropped her chopsticks! *laughs* Let’s see, let’s see… Ummm… Hanazawa-san talked about this on her radio. You didn’t hear about it?

*Ayaneru mumbling something that is inaudible*

Tone: You haven’t listened to it yet? Seems like they went together. But you know, since they talked about this openly, this is probably not like a real love relationship or anything like that. If it was something serious, they wouldn’t talk about it on radio. So it’s OK! It was just that they had a day off, and since they were on an onsen trip, Hanazawa-san asked Uchiyama-san if she wanted to take a bath together.

*bonk sound*

Tone: Did you hear that noise just now? Ayaneru just suddenly closed her mouth.

Radio staff: When you say it out loud yourself, this just makes it worse [for Ayaneru]…

Tone: This time, it seems she went with Uchiyama-san but next time, it’ll be your turn Ayaneru! She’ll definitely ask you to go with her next time! S-so, what would you do if Hanazawa-san asked you “Hey Ayaneru, can I take a bath with you?” What would you do?

*awkward silence*

U-uh huh… You can get more details [about the onsen trip] in a previous episode of Mayonaka Delivery… Are you imagining Hanazawa-san asking if she can take a bath with you? *banging sound* Or are you still under shock with the news that they both went on an onsen trip together?

She just threw her glasses off and starting rubbing her face!! Are you washing your face? *laughs*

*Ayaneru gasping*

Tone: Can we ask you to comment on your current state of mind right now?

Ayaneru: *speaking with her hands over her face* If they’re both happy, then that’s fine with me…

Tone: *laughs* What Ayaneru just said is “If they’re both happy, then that’s fine with me.” Within this radio studio, the atmosphere is somewhat awkward at the moment… You’ve got it all wrong here! They wouldn’t really talk about this on radio if it was serious! Even you go eat with people other than Hanazawa-san, right?

Ayaneru: Isn’t it natural that one would want the person they like to be happy? So if Hana-chan is happy, that’s great…

Tone: Y-yeah… But y'know…

Ayaneru: And if she’s having fun with Yumi-san, that’s great too. I like Yumi-san too so… If the person I like is happy, isn’t that a good thing?

Tone: How did the “Ayaneru is starving” corner turn into her last supper? *Ayaneru sighs loudly* Ayaneru seems to be the type of person who binge eats. Alright, let’s keep the show rolling with the time we have left! Please cheer up!

*Ayaneru chokes on her food*

[Tone-san closes down the corner while Ayaneru keeps on eating and loudly slurping.]

I must say that this was a strange radio segment to translate, as Ayaneru barely says anything. We experience everything through Tone Kentarou’s description of what Ayaneru is doing.
