If I apply ED and get accepted, does that impact my scholarship funding?

Hi, how do I include the images of the process before the final artwork came into picture? Do I make a pdf or submit as a single slide or different images ?

RISD Admissions: You can include three picture to one single slide. Do not submit multiple page PDF’s

Is there an Early Decision Deadline for Transfer Students applying for entrance into Fall 2019? I know the Regular Deadline is 3/15/2019....Thank you!

RISD Admissions: March 15th is the only deadline for transfer applicants.

Hi! I’m a freshman in a community college, I’m currently enrolled as a full-time student taking 15 units. I was wondering if I don’t have enough credits for the transfer requirements, will it affect my chances of being accepted? Since my major is fashion design, should I include a portfolio for that too along with my artwork?

RISD Admissions: Yes, it will affect your eligibility to apply as a transfer applicant.

Hi there, I'm a potential transfer applicant and I was interested in going to a portfolio day. I have many larger pieces (mostly figure drawings) that are mostly 18x24. I was wondering if I should bring the originals or just bring pictures. I understand some of the essence(?) of the drawing can be lost in photos, so that's why I'm asking.

RISD Admissions: We suggest taking pictures but having a few actual pieces would be great to see!

Are prospective students allowed to use their 2 Assignment pieces in art shows, contests, and other portfolios?

RISD Admissions: Yes, you are more then welcome to use it in your art show, contest, and other portfolios.

Hi! For the Assignment, do students need to create 2 works for one word or 2 different pieces for 2 different words?

RISD Admissions: Students will create two visual art/design pieces based on one word from what we have listed on the website.

Hi, I saw that you said RISD will only review portfolios on the online portfolio website until 2019. Does this mean RISD will be done reviewing forever or just for this application cycle? Could I still get reviews in June 2019? Thank you for all your help!

RISD Admissions: RISD will put on hold the AICAD.slideroom.com reviews Jan.1 2019- May 2019. Will resume reviews at the end of May!

For the assignments required for our portfolio, what does it mean that we have to create two responses? Thank you

RISD Admissions: It means you create two visual art or design pieces based on one prompt.

Hi! I was looking at the application requirements and it says that is need a letter recommendation from a guidance counselor/teacher/mentor within the field of art and design. Since my school does not have art classes, what should I do?

RISD Admissions: Recommendation letters are optional for First year and transfer students. If you can’t or do not have an art teacher, that is totally ok.

Hello, Slideroom has a video size limit of 250 MB. Is there a minute length maximum within those constraints?

RISD Admissions: You will have to contact slideroom directly.

Hi! If I have a project that's consisted of 10 drawings, does this count as 1 piece or 10 piece? Also, is there a limit on how many "series" I can include in the portfolio? Is it acceptable if I have 3 projects, and each of them consists of 5 to 10 images?

RISD Admissions: Series pieces, we suggest showing the top three images from that project or you can create an animated slideshow gif.

Hello! If I apply early decision and get rejected, can I also apply regular decision with more improved portfolio?

RISD Admissions: Applicants can not apply twice in the same application cycle.

Hi there, I am a current senior in high school who is very interested in applying to the illustration major at RISD. I just have two quick questions. Do you by chance know the average acceptance rate for the illustration major? Also, is the portfolio due the same time s the application or is it due earlier? Thank you!

RISD Admissions: First year applicants do not apply direct to a major in our Admissions process. First year admissions is not based on major selection. The application and portfolio can be submitted separately.

Hi! If I apply early decision and am not accepted, do I get put back into the pool of regular decision applicants?

RISD Admissions: If a student is denied early decisions, their applicant will not be reconsidered for regular decision.

Are incoming international students eligible for RISD Scholarships?

RISD Admissions: Unfortunately, International students are not eligible for RISD scholarships
