Evaluation and Final Documentation
Whilst brainstorming many ideas and developing the prototype we all had to bear in mind that there was a client brief we had to adhere to. This project had to focus on implementing new, fresh ideas and creating an appealing space available for all age groups. So we asked ourselves the question: how can our project appeal to all age groups? We decided that the main theme of Love Lock Loft will be about love, but inserting retro elements to appeal to an older demographic and young teens and adults who also take interest in retro themes. The last demographic to cover was young children, so we made sure to incorporate a child-like environment and fun activities for them as well.Â
How does our project appeal to all age groups?
1. Retro and love theme (older demographic)Â
2. Having a modern aesthetic and picturesque backgrounds to take photos of/in front of (teenager and young adult demographic)Â
3. A cozy, fun, and relaxing area to watch movies and play (children)
We knew there would be an extensive amount of materials used for this project therefore an essential part of the project development was to incorporate how we were going to make Love Lock Loft as environmentally sustainable as possible.Â
How is our project environmentally sustainable?
1. made use of 3 shipping containers provided by NorthshoreÂ
2. furniture made out of recycled wood and biodegradable materials (bean bags, pots, plants, wooden posts, & fence)
3. Love Lock Loft is a green space that evokes a vibrant culture and a place that is environmentally friendly
4. There will be a place within one of the shipping containers specifically for key disposal. This will ensure that there will be no littering of keys on the ground or in the riverÂ
In the final stages of prototyping we brainstormed ways to make a digital footprint for Love Lock Loft. We ended up with #LoveLockLoft that people can tag in their photos. Their photos will then be displayed on the screens in the key disposal shipping container alongside the display of the hashtag.
Above all the strengths and aspects of the client brief that has been achieved with this project there will always be areas for improvement. Altogether our project only cost $20, 000 to construct, which left us $20,000-$50,000 spare. For future development, I would invest in an app to be created for Love Lock Loft. This app will ask people what they did at the site and that information will then be saved onto a database to determine what people are most interested in doing and how we can cater to them by providing different features to the site and activities in future.
