For anyone who has bad anxiety and have bad panic attacks,
My therapist told me a way to help it. Itâs called âgroundingâ or some people like to call it âmindfulnessâ.
Hereâs what to do in the middle of the panic/anxiety attack:
1) Touch 5 things or objects
2) Next, find 4 different things to look at
3) Then, try to hear 3 different sounds
4) Smell 2 different things
5) Lastly, taste one thing or think of one good quality/thing about yourself, that you like.
This works really well and itâs suppose to distract you and take you back to reality.
panic/anxiety attack
breath in for 4 seconds
hold your breath for 7 seconds
exhale breath for 8 seconds
repeat once or twice more.
This causes an autonomic nervous system shift from a sympathetic (fight or flight reaction) state to a parasympathetic response.
Use this for panic/anxiety attacks, exams, presentations.
