It doesn't seem like sinner names and human names starting with the same letter is a coincidence at all (and it's not really an uncommon trope in fiction, anyways) so here's my list of headcanons on Hazbin Hotel characters' names so far.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THESE ARE HEADCANONS BASED ON INFORMATION THAT I GATHERED, THEY ARE *NOT* CANONICAL AND AREN'T MEANT TO BE TAKEN AS SUCH.
MAIN CAST
(NOTE: Charlie, Lucifer, Lilith, Angel Dust (Anthony), Sir Pentious (Pendleton), Vox (Vincent Whittman), Emily, Sera, Adam, Abel, and others (confirmed) including all hellborn and heavenborn are purposefully left out of the list).
• Vaggi - Valeria (Classic, timeless latin name with wide usage in spanish-speaking territories. Vaggi bearing the name of a martyr fits in perfectly with her former role as a disgraced exorcist violently discarded by the powerful for rebelling through acting with the goodness of her heart. The name Valeria comes from the latin word "valere", meaning "to be capable/strong").
• Cherri - Cheryl (From the word "chérie", french for "darling" or "dear", of which the name Sherry also originates. This name peaked in Australia in the 50s-60s, around the time I calculate Cherri was born (iirc, she was said to have died in the 80s between her mid-20s, which would place her year of birth somewhere around 1955). Cherri, although blunt and wild, is a person very dear to main cast members such as Angel and Sir Pentious that provides support and comfort and is warmed-up to easily).
• Husk - Hugh (I am well aware the fandom leans toward "Henry", but that is pretty much canonically Angel's father's name (Henrik in hell = probably Henry when alive) and it would be very strange to have two characters that will be important in season 3 have this comical bit to themselves; I wouldn't find it to be good writing. Instead, Hugh peaked in usage between 1910-1920 according to Behind The Name, which is around the time Husk was born or in his early childhood (he canonically died a 60-something year old in the 70s). The diminutive "Huey" is also tied to african-american history, which would pair up with the general depiction of african-american human Husk).
• Niffty - Naomi (the name Naomi finds a spot in american history through two heritages: hebrew and, most relevantly, japanese. If Niffty was a 22/23-year-old japanese-american housewife in the 1950s, her birthdate is pretty much settled around 1927, when popularity for this name was the highest before the 21st century. Not only is it easy to pronounce for both her family and english-speaking folk –making her melt better into society as a child of immigrants–, the kanji for nao (直, "straightforward") and mi (美, "beautiful") would be descriptive of a Niffty who was seen as a threat and therefore, "taken care" of (through a lobotomy, as is often speculated).
• Lute - Lucy/Lucille (if she's not heavenborn, which remains uncomfirmed, I feel Lute would do with a very regular name so disparaging of her true colors. Also a timeless name, "Lucy" comes from the word for "light" in latin, "lux". Lute is someone who believes herself to be in the right; if but reaching, you could argue she sees her path of righteousness as the only way to succeed and believes others, including Sera, should follow her ideals and "see the light" (aka, "finally see how things truly are"). In a much lesser way, another name I feel could suit her would be Luane/Luann (which means "warrior woman", not much else to explain).
• Velvette - Vanessa (not exclusively due to the fact that the Vee's names *must* begin with a V, it was in the top 10 most popular girl names in the 1990s when Velvette is asumed to have been born, as she allegedly passed away during the age of smartphones at an age younger than Niffty. Vanessa has no real meaning since the name originated as an amalgamation of the name and last name of the 1700s author Jonathan Swift's friend, Esther Vanhomrigh. The name has since been associated with butterflies due to the Nymphalini butterfly species named such, but it's more relevantly widely been considered and used in media for the portrayal of a "mean girl" archetype).
• Carmilla Carmine - Carmen (in origin, "Carmen" is, alongside Carmela, the most widespread female variant of the name Carmel/Carmelo in the spanish-speaking world, and so very notably used in Spain (where Carmilla is supposedly from). I find the reasoning behind this headcanon very self-explanatory, though it is imperative to note that this variation of Carmelo/Carmela is also commonly thought to be tied to "carmen", the latin word for "song", which aligns with Carmilla's dancer sinner persona).
• Zestial - Zacharias/Zachary (originating from the old hebrew name Zechariah, Zachary became popular during the 17th century after the conclusion of the western-european Protestant Reformation along many other biblical names, including those from the Old Testament, that came into fashion. Zestial is confirmed the oldest of the Overlords, far older than all of them, and commonly assumed to have been alive sometime in the 1600s).
And so we move to characters that I believe kept (or only slightly changed the spelling of) their birthname:
• Alastor - Alastor (not counting the mere possibilty of the name Alastor being chosen by him as a more stilized variant of Alistair, Alastor as a standalone name has deep religious connotations. In greek mythology, as well as one of the many names used to refer to one specific form of Zeus (specifically, Zeus Avenger, as that is the original meaning of the word), Alastor became a generic name given to demonic beings seeking revenge and, further down the line but still in the ancient greek world, an insult. In Christian demonology, Alastor is a skillfully cruel and bloody possessing demon prone to taking punishment and execution of sinners onto his own hands).
• Valentino - Valentino (not unlike Alastor, I believe he's prideful (or maybe foolish) enough in his identity not to have chosen a nickname for himself upon arrival. I also headcanon he might've used this to lure Angel in to sign with his real name, giving him a false impression of being truthful and therefore, trustworthy. In the ancient Roman Empire, Valentinus' feast day fell on the same day as Lupercalia (the roman festivity for fertility) thus creating Valentine's Day and the name's (and to a darker degree, the character's) heavy association to love).
• Baxter - Baxter (although the name "Baxter" originates as a last name meaning "female baker" (which you could headcanon could be a nod to Baxter's own androgynous design), the peak in popularity of the given name does date back to what could easily be calculated as Baxter's birthdate, which would be between the 1880s-1890s if you assume he was around 20-24 y/o in his original (no longer canonical) date of passing in the Titanic catastrophe in 1912. Unlike pseudo-names like Husk or Niffty, "Baxter" is also not a word that is descriptive of anything in his character or design that would make the viewer truly ponder).

Poison is about Angel's addiction, which is also a metaphor for his abusive relationship with Valentino:

Love In A Bottle is about Husk's alcoholism, which is also a metaphor for the walls he builds to avoid relationships:

As a matter of fact both Angel and Husk hate themselves, so they try to forget who they are through drugs and alcohol:

However, they also decline their issues in opposite ways.
On the one hand Angel hides who he is behind a mask and can't help to look for love in the wrong places:

Just because people do mistakes, they do not have to be losers forever, they can find happiness.
So, Loser, Baby is about relationships built on accepting each other's flaws. Losin' Streak is instead about relationships that motivate each other to grow.
HAZBIN HOTEL: BEHIND CLOSED DOORS VS SCREAM RAIN
Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors sets up a mini-arc for Huskerdusk, which ends in Scream Rain.
In Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors both Husk and Angel fail to save each other. On the one hand Husk forces Angel into a redemption attempt doomed to fail. On the other hand Angel puts himself at risk to protect Husk, but both Sinners are eventually saved by Vaggi. Moreover, Angel's actions unwillingly make Husk's self-issues surface:
Angel Dust: What? Y-you can't be serious right now. Y-you're mad at me? I saved your fucking life!
Husk: Yeah! By jumping in front of a train, you idiot! You pull shit like that again, and I'll... I'll... I'll fucking spank you!
Angel Dust: Pull what shit? What? The shit that you volunteered me for?
Husk: Yeah! 'Cause I know how much you actually want this!
In Scream Rain Husk and Angel reconnect. In particular, Angel this time manages to save Husk and helps him with his psychological problems. After Angel's performance, thus, Husk is able to express his issues more healthily and chooses to go back to the Hazbin Hotel:
Husk: That hotel's a bigger mess than we are.
Angel Dust: Yeah. I think my botched redemption arc was proof of that.
Husk: Sorry for pushing you into that. should've realized it was a—
Angel Dust: Eh, it's fine. I've accepted that redemption's not really for people like me. Are you still mad I saved your life?
Husk: I wasn't really mad. I... I'm just not worth saving. This, this here is what I'm meant for. Just a sad drunk at a bar.
Angel Dust: And I'm just a sex worker in a dress whose lunch was three cigarettes. To being us.
In other words, Angel tries to save Husk physically through self-sacrifice in 2X3, but fails. However, the spider succeeds at saving the cat spiritually in 2X6 by being himself.
In this way, we get some hints at how Angel's own redemption will look like. It won't be a self-sacrificial redemption, like Sir Pentious's. It will be a redemption rooted in love, where Angel will finally celebrate himself. It will be a self-celebration and not a self-sacrifice.
Similarly, Husk will help in this process not by pushing Angel to reach Heaven, while leaving Husk in Hell. Rather, Husk will help Angel, by loving him and struggling with him to both be better people.
All of this is foreshadowed also through visual motifs:
In Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors, the scene where Angel jumps in front of the train combines two different symbols. On the one hand Husk's wings behind Angel give the spider angelic imagery. On the other hand the train-lights make Angel's pink heart look golden.
These two same motifs appear also in Losin' Streak:
Angel sings in front of a symbol of Husks's wings, so it looks like Angel himself has wings.
Angel plays with a chip that has Husk's golden heart symbol on it.
What does it mean?
For Angel both scenes show how Husk's influence will lead him to redemption. Husk draws out Angel's golden heart and makes so he can grow wings.
For Husk both scenes foreshadow how Angel is the one who can save Husk from himself.
In short, Huskerdust is about mutual saving through acceptance and growth. It is the story of two losers becoming winners.
Let's see how by analyzing both songs.
LOVE IN A BOTTLE: HUSK'S SPIRAL
Love In A Bottle uses Husk's two addictions as its main motifs, so it is built on:
An alcohol metaphor, which is present mostly in the lyrics
A gambling metaphor, which is present mostly in the visuals
ALCOHOL = LONELINESS
Love In A Bottle is full of references to alcohol:
Husk: Get the top shelf, double rocks, pour the Scotch
I've missed the tune of tumblers clinking
Deal me in, kick the sin up a notch
Divin' in quicksand's faster than sinkin'
"Top shelf", "double rocks", "tumblers" and even the metaphor of "sinking" are all references to alcohol and drinking. This is because Husk copes by drowning his sorrows:
Husk: I'm leavin' behind all of the cares that I've been overthinkin'
Find friends in my wine
Stay unawares just as long as I'm drinkin'
Husk: Love is in the ice of the beholder
Gin never lies or fucks you over
Husk compares wine to "friends" and thinks that only the ice of his cocktails can find any beauty in him. So, he chooses to give up relationships and to lose himself into alcohol:
It goes down the same every time
You need someone to hand your chips
Go all in and abandon ship
You're jumpin' for the water, and it's all 100 proof
This stanza explains it pretty well. He has no-one to hand him chips, so no-one who sees any value in him (chips are used as stand-ins for money when gambling). As a result, Husk uses alcohol as a surrogate. He knows deep down it is no good and would like to save himself (abandon ship and jump' for the water). However, he can't, as he finds himself immersed in 100 proof scotch:
A GAMBLER, NOT A PLAYER
Husk wants to lose himself in drinking and gambling. He wants to fill his inner void with alcohol and to feel good by winning gambles. Still, no matter how much he tries, the world around him keeps reminding him of the truth:
Husk sings "It kinda feels like the wrong time to feel sorry for myself" and the slot machines remind him "you are a loser, baby".
Husk sings "I'm leavin' behind all of the cares that I've been overthinkin'" and the slot machines take the form of Charlie (going through a spiral), Al (currently captive) and Angel (the person Husk has feelings for). You ain't tricking anyone, Husk!
The Magic Kat is an extension of Husk himself since it is his casino. So, the slot machines and different games comment on our black cat's interiority. The slot-machines remind Husk he is a loser and that he cares deeply about Charlie, Alastor and Angel, even if he tries to negate it. Finally, even if he initially gains some victories, he ends up losing miserably even when the odds are in his favor:
Husk loses even at his own casino. He is the "house", but even so he loses. Why is that so? Well, maybe it is because he is not really playing.
Husk is at a hotel, which wants to improve people's lives, but he acts only as a silent witness to others' struggle to get better. He himself does not even try to improve, nor does he take any risks in his personal life. He is not a true player, so he never wins. Thankfully, someone comes around to motivate him to bet on himself again.
LOSIN' STREAK: ANGEL'S BIG MOMENT
Losin' Streak is Angel's big moment this season, so before I get to the lyrics and the visuals, I am gonna talk a little of what the whole scene means. In particular, I am gonna focus on the themes of:
Masculine and feminine
Performances
MASCULINE AND FEMININE
Angel is a character that by design combines masculine and feminine traits. His challenge is to find a balance between his two sides.
Season 1 is about showing more of Angel's "masculine side".
Husk: Well, that was something I didn't expect to see.
Angel Dust: Like I said, you don't know me. Sex ain't the only thing I'm good at.
Husk: Good to know, cause this guy ain't that bad.
Angel starts the season by playing the part of the "sexy whore", who is empty-headed, vapid and only cares about sex and drugs. However, it comes out Angel is much more than this. In particular, in "Masquerade" he shows Husk he can handle himself in a fight. This is why Angel's mini-moment of awesome in "The Show Must Go On" has him saving Frank by showing what a good fighter he is:
Angel Dust: (to the Egg Boi named Frank) You alright, squirt?
Frank: I nearly scrambled...myself.
Angel Dust: Get somewhere safe.
Season 2 is about showing a positive side of Angel's "inner femininity".
In 2X3 Angel plays a hyper-masculine hero:
And Vox and Velvette try to paint him as a violent killer:
Angel Dust: It ain't that easy, Charlie. Now drop it.
Vox: It really isn't, is it?
Angel Dust: Don't you dare, asshole.
Vox: Tell me, Princess, what exercise could one do to be forgiven for being a...
Angel Dust: Stop.
Vox: ...murderer?
Angel Dust: You shut the fuck up! Don't you dare call me tha--
Vox: Killed your dad, right?
So, 2X6 has Angel empathize with Husk's pain and insecurities, while dressed as a beautiful woman, as his best moment this season:
GOOD PERFORMANCE VS BAD PERFORMANCE
Angel's entertainment motif in Hazbin Hotel is "acting", so his character is intertwined with "performances", "costumes" and "masks". Losin' Streak ties into this as it is Angel giving a heart-felt performance, which can be juxtaposed to:
His performance in 2X3
His performance in Posion
1- In 2X3 Angel is forced into a part he does not like by Charlie. It is even highlighted how the whole set-up is very similar to one of Val's pornos:
Charlie: If only there was a big, strong man willing to sacrifice himself to save the poor damsel! Just like the great Sir Pentious did! And I definitely don't have a way to stop this train in case things go bad.
Velvette: Pretty sure one of Val's pornos opened just like this.
Vox: Add plagiarism to the list.
Angel Dust: (in a Southern accent) I'm a big, STRONG man with SO many redeemable qualities. (In normal voice) All right, nope. Nope.
In 2X6 Angel is playing a part he clearly enjoys, while performing at Husk's casino. It is a job Angel chose of his own free will outside of his contract with Valentino.
This juxtaposition is important for the theme of "redemption".
In 2X3 Charlie is trying to force redemption by having Angel be someone he is not:
Charlie: Wear this top hat, and build a rocket
You gotta commit! Sssstart ssspeaking like thisss!
Have depression! An egg obsession!
And a leathery hood! Then you'll be good for good!
Speedrun To Redemption conveys this perfectly. Charlie tells Angel to be like Sir Pentious and sings herself, instead of letting Angel use his voice, which is key to redemption:
Speaker of God: You speak of choices
Made by other voices
You can only atone (Sera: Tell me how to atone!)
Once you speak with your own
So, Charlie's final attempt being about giving Angel a part he does not want to perform ties into her huge misunderstanding of how redemption works.
In 2X6 instead Angel makes progress towards redemption without even realizing it. He manages to help a person dear to him and he does so by singing Losin' Streak, his own song. Not only that, but the song is part of a performance Angel himself has chosen. The Angel who sings Losin' Streak may be closer to Angel's ideal self than both the porn-star (twisted feminine) and the action hero/mafioso (twisted masculine).
2- Losin' Streak is the opposite of Poison.
Poison is a performance Angel puts up for Valentino, so that he can hide his pain. It happens in Val's studio and it ties to Val's idea of entertainment, as it is a long musical video/porn routine:
Losin' Streak is a performance Angel puts up for Husk, so that he can express his feelings. It happens in Husk's casino and it ties to Husk's idea of entertainment, as it is a live performance for the guests:
Both songs are Angel putting up a show for a romantic partner, but the overall meaning is different. In Poison Angel hides his self-hate. In Losin' Streak instead Angel shows his best side. Obviously this difference is telling of how the two relationships impact Angel:
Valentino is linked to Angel's worst parts, as the pan moth enables them and uses them to control Angel
Husk is linked to Angel's best parts, as the pan cat draws them out and encourages them to free Angel
The juxtaposition of Angel's two main songs in season 1 and 2 just makes this foiling obvious. Valentino is Angel's major villain, while Husk is Angel's major helper in his personal arc.
LOSIN' STREAK: ANGEL'S SONG TO HUSK
Losin' Streak is Angel's song to Husk, so it is not much about Angel's character, but more about what he means for Husk. In particular, Husk's feelings for Angel are commented through:
The Lyrics that build a metaphor beween "love" and "gambling"
The Visuals, where the casino mirrors Husk's emotions (just like in Love In A Bottle)
LOVE IS A GAMBLE
Angel's song is built on the idea it is a performance, so it has two meanings:
For the guests it is a song about gamblers looking for luck
For Husk it is a love song
This double layer is set up since the first stanza:
Angel: It's been so very long since Lady Luck kissed you
Still, you listen for her song
And pray that she missed you
Angel opens the performance by sending a kiss to emphasize he himself is Lady Luck.
Angel is playing "Lady Luck". He sings to the gamblers to bring them luck. Still, to Husk he is "Lady Luck" on a much more existential level. He is Husk's luck in life, as Angel re-awakens hope and a desire for love in our unlucky black cat.
The meaning of the song for Husk becomes clearer in the other stanzas.
Angel: Dead inside
'Cause you know it's all pretend
Close your eyes
'Cause you're goin' off the deep end
Again
Here Angel is describing the way Husk feels. The Hazbin Hotel's bartender thinks of himself as empty, a true "husk". He is closing his eyes to avoid himself, so that he can escape in alcohol and gambling. However, deep down Husk wants to live and to feel. The two refrains hint at this:
Angel: You're livin' for the rush
For that royal flush
But you take what you can get
You play your final ace
For a pretty face
Tastes like scotch and cigarettes
Angel: You're livin' for the rush
For that royal flush
But the next best thing will do
You want to spend your chips
On these rosy lips
Tryin' to get me next to you
Husk takes "what he can get" and says "the next best thing will do". Still, deep down he wishes for more and hopes for some good luck.
Moreover, the two stanzas directly juxtapose the "gambling" with Husk's "search for love".
It is the "royal flush" of the gambler versus "the ace for a pretty face" of the magician:
Husk uses his cards and "magician" powers to protect Angel during Masquerade.
It is "the royal flush" of money versus "the chips on the rosy lips" of love:
Angel shows the "royal flush" during the first refrain, at the beginning of the song.
Angel plays with a heart-decorated chip during the second refrain, towards the end of the song.
From gambling for money to gambling for love.
This is what Angel is inspiring Husk to do:

Husk is falling, but not in an alcoholic or gambling spiral. He is falling in love with Angel, even if he thinks his chances are low. Still, he can't fight his feelings because deep down Husk has still hope to end his losin' streak:
Angel: 'Cause you can't help needin' to believe in
Findin' what you seek
'Til you break your losin'

WINNERS
Husks sees himself as a loser, but Angel is saying Husk can in fact be a winner.
This juxtaposition is nicely commented by the Magic Kat's layout.
On the one hand Husk is at the bar, where there are many words linked to alcohol and getting drunk:
On the other hand Angel is performing on the stage, where there is wing imagery together with words linked to money and victory:
This set-up has a double meaning.
1- It is like Husk sees himself and Angel.
Husk thinks of himself as a "loser", a drunk, so he sits at the bar surrounded by alcohol. He instead believes Angel can be a "winner" aka reach Heaven.
This reading is confirmed by Angel's angelic imagery throughout the song:
And by the fact he is performing on a stage, so he is "higher" than Husk.
2- It is about what Husk should do to reach Angel and be on his level.
During the performance Angel briefly comes down from the stage and interacts with the audience to "bring them luck" and inspire them.
(I also love Angel briefly passes in front of the Wall Of Fame because he is indeed a star <3)
However, he goes back up and disappears behind the curtains.
This means that if Husk wants a relationship with Angel, he should try to aim for "redemption", so that he can become a "winner" too. Husk can find his path towards "victory in life" by leaving the bar and following Angel. Husk too can go higher and perform on the stage of life.
UNLUCKY AT CARDS, LUCKY IN LOVE
Love In A Bottle and Losin' Streak are songs, that work best together because the latter answers the former.
In Love In A Bottle Husk laments he is unlucky at cards
In Losin' Streak Angel tells Husk he can be lucky in love
"Unlucky at cards, lucky in love" is what Huskerdust means for Husk. He may lose at gambling, but he is a winner when it comes to romance. He might have been unlucky in life, but he finds his greatest luck after death.
In Love In A Bottle Husk initially wins some chips thanks to a Royal Flush. He is focused on gambling and superficial happiness.
In Losin' Streak Angel shows Husk a Royal Flush. Symbolically, Angel's Royal Flush is linked to love and a deeper happiness. Angel himself is Husk's true Royal Flush.
This is also why Losin' Streak symbolically ends what Love In A Bottle starts.
Husk starts his song by playing with a lonely chip (his own heart symbolically)
Husk: You know, it's been such a long time since I've been out on my own
Bittersweet, to be so free and so alone
And Angel ends his song by sweetly kissing the same chip (symbolically giving love to Husk)

Scream Rain is an episode full of love songs. Love In A Bottle, Losin' Streak and Easy all explore the theme of love. Not only that, but Huskerdust and Chaggie are openly paralleled.
Husk and Charlie go through a spiral, so Vaggi and Husk save them with a song. What is great is that both "angels" :P do so by conveying their love through the "performative art" they are linked to.
Vaggi is linked to dancing, so Easy focuses a lot on the choreography and Vaggi and Charlie's sexual intercourse is conveyed through tango
Angel is linked to acting, so Losin' Streak is a performance where he plays Husk's personal Lady Luck
So, "love" is directly compared to art and beauty. Not only that, but in the end love is really all that matters:
