Because Betty's Worth It

In season 3 episode 20, the Black Hood and the Gargoyle King send a note to Betty (delivered through a chain of students at the school) in order to get her out of the Prom so that they could kill her.

In season 3 episode 21, Jughead is trying to track down who received the note directly from the Gargoyle King. He's on the 3rd person in the chain (Louie) and, before even asking Louie who he got the envelope from, offers Louie $20 for answering the question ("So here's the $20 question: Who'd you get envelope from?") Because Jughead knows that good, accurate information isn't free. And Betty's worth it, so he doesn't even risk getting wrong information by being cheap.

Now, after paying Louie, he's probably spent at least $60 (paying the jester, Luna the Druid, and Louie the centaur). Plus, he probably also spent some money asking around about who the jester was.

For a normal teenager, $60 is a bit expensive, but probably not a super big deal. But Jughead grew up poor, on the Southside. His family never had a lot of money growing up and, therefore, he's probably learned to save and scrimp his money and spend as little of it as he possibly can.

So, for him to give up at least $60, without being asked for it, without being told that he has to... How monumental is that for a poor kid who grew up on the Southside??? But he does it! Because Betty is important to him. Because Betty's worth it to him!

"I'll See You Soon"

Has anyone noticed how when Jughead thinks he's about to die, he doesn't say goodbye. He says "I'll See You Soon."

In season 2 episode 21 when he's about to give himself up to Hiram and the Ghoulies: When Jughead calls Betty to say goodbye, he doesn't tell her goodbye. He says "I love you. And I'll never stop loving you. I'll see you soon."

In season 3 episode 19 when Kurtz is about to kill him: He gets to call Jellybean first to make sure she's alright. He genuinely believes that he is about to die, but he still says "I'll see you soon, alright?" He still doesn't say goodbye.

Why does he say "I'll See You Soon" instead of "Goodbye"? Maybe it's because he needs to say goodbye, but he doesn't want his loved ones to worry; so he says "See You Soon" so that they won't worry.

Sweet, wonderful Jughead. Even when he's about to die, he's not thinking about himself.

Let's just take a moment to admire Jughead's character development. In his narrations he goes from saying things like "some people might've seen 4 people in that booth, but really there were only 3" on early season 1 to "the Black Hood, my girlfriend's dad" in season 3. Like, who else is proud of this boy for putting himself in the story?

The Coopers and The Farm (It's all about Betty)

WARNING: SPOILERS

So, my previous theory got me to thinking: Is there something special about the Coopers, why they've all managed to get involved with the Gargoyle King, or is it just coincidental?

Well, there are no coincidences in Riverdale.

I don't know what exactly the connection is, but here are my scattered thoughts:

-The tattoo artist says that the man who first got the tattoo of the symbols had like Sandy or dirty blond hair and blue eyes (I don't exactly remember the wording). Betty thinks it's Edgar. Except Edgar has green eyes. Now, that's an easy mistake for Betty to make. Like, would you be able to say that you definitely know the eye color of the creepy guy who's marrying your mom and brainwashing your sister, her babies, and your friends into his cult? No. It's an easy mistake for Betty to make, but not for the show-writers. I don't think that Edgar was ever meant to be the guy with the gargoyle symbols. But you know who had blue eyes in season 1? Hal Cooper! (I didn't even realize this until I was looking up pics of him and saw that he had blue eyes in season 1). Of course, I chalked this up to the writers giving the black hood green eyes when they hadn't decided who he was yet and then just turning Hal's eyes green after they decided that he was the Black Hood. But maybe, this eye color change was planned from the beginning. Maybe Hal Cooper, when he still had his blue eyes at the beginning of season 1 (which is around when the tattoo was supposedly gotten), was the guy who got the tattoo and the writers had that planned from the beginning.

-Alice played G&G in high school. Now, could the gargoyle king really have known that she was going to end up being a Cooper? That's unlikely. But maybe (and this is a bit far fetched - like all my theories) there was something special about Alice Smith and the gargoyle king wanted her to be a Cooper. But he saw that Alice and FP were getting close, so he presented Gryphons and gargoyles to them so that he could set up the death so that it would drive them apart and push Alice towards Hal.

-Polly: She's actually probably the simplest. If Jason and Evernever are working together (which my theory is that they are, based on the show basically implying it), Jason intentionally got Polly pregnant to put the idea of running away to the Farm into her head so that even after he "died", she'd still go to the farm. (This also explains why Polly was in the playbook: Jason didn't actually care about her.) Hal was also working with Evernever. Part of the reason he became the Black Hood was to push Polly away from Riverdale and to the farm.

-Betty is the key. Polly, Alice, Evernever, and Hal were all trying to push Betty to believe that she is destined to be a serial killer. Hal didn't become the Black Hood because Betty's speech inspired him. He was always planning to become the Black Hood, he just needed to find a way to relate it back to Betty. But why are they trying to convince Betty to believe she's destined to become a serial killer? The organ harvesting! It's all leading to a grand massacre where Edgar's going to kill everyone to harvest all their organs and use the money to run off to somewhere. Betty will obviously be medically rendered unconscious while this massacre is happening and then she wake sup, if Edgar's plan had worked, she would've believed that she killed everyone because she's a serial killer. But, because Betty is still a good person, she would become overcome with grief and turn herself in as the killer (and seek help), tying everything up in a nice little bow.

Jason Blossom has a twin... And it's not Cheryl

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD FOR 3x21 - SERIOUSLY

So, for those of us who've watched tonight's episode, we all know (and were probably shocked by) who the gargoyle king is.

And we thought, wait that's impossible. Or rather, nothing's impossible in Riverdale, but how is this possible?

Obviously Jason has a twin. Who's not Cheryl. A male twin. I mean, really, it's the only explanation. We all saw Jason get shot. It was on video. And FP and Joaquin saw (and covered up) the dead body.

Penelope (and maybe Clifford) have obviously been planning this Gargoyle King thing for a long time. Like, since Jason was born. And so they've kept the other twin a secret. They adopted Cheryl to play the twin, keep up the Blossom tradition while one of the Jasons grew up in secret.

But if Jason had a twin and there was an actual dead body, why is the coffin empty? Edgar harvested the organs. Because he and the Gargoyle King are working together.

Another question: How much does Polly know? We know that she tried to fool her sister into thinking that she was her dark side, but was Polly aware of what she was doing? Or maybe was she under some kind of hypnosis too?

I think that Polly knows everything and that she's just madly in love with Jason and willing to do anything for him.

Maybe there was Blossom twincest...

So I know that Blossom twincest has probably been a theory in the back of all of our minds since the very first episode. But is it real?

(Hold on cus this is a long one.)

*WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD*

So, after watching episode 3x04: The Midnight Club, a theory came together for me. In that episode, Penelope reveals that she was adopted when she was 8 and groomed to be Clifford's sister then his bride. But that raised a question for me: as we learned in season 2, Clifford and Cladius grew up together until they were 14, when Cladius ran away after Clifford pointed a rifle at him. So if the Blossoms were choosing child brides when Cladius was still around, where and who was Cladius's future wife?

Well, I don't think he had one. I think that Clifford was being groomed to inherit the family business and, therefore, the family only cared if Clifford's line kept the red hair. They didn't care if the children of their other son, Cladius, had red hair or not because Cladius wasn't carrying on the full Blossom legacy (the business).

But how does that relate to twincest? As in Jason and Cheryl twincest? Well, Nana Rose Blossom and her husband ensured that the heir to their business had a red-headed bride when he was 8. So why didn't Penelope and Clifford do that for their heir, Jason, when he was 8?

Because it's Cheryl! Maybe Cheryl was adopted, maybe not, but there are subtle hints throughout the show that Cheryl was being groomed to be Jason's bride.

In episode 1x10, Jughead's birthday, when the group is playing Secrets and Sins, Veronica accuses Cheryl of twincest. And everyone at the party thinks she's crazy, but if you watch Cheryl's face after Veronica suggests that, her reaction makes me think that maybe Veronica wasn't too far off.

The other subtle hint is in episode 1x12 when the Coopers storm Thornhill in the middle of the night to rescue Polly, revealing to everyone that Polly and Jason were 3rd cousins. The Blossoms have no issue with this however and Penelope even says that "nothing could be more purely Blossom" than Polly's babies. Admittedly, Clifford does also say "it's not like they were brother and sister", which leads people to think that, like a normal person, he is against sibling incest. But we'll just chalk that up to Clifford trying to seem normal instead of mentally twisted. Of course, when Penelope said that nothing could be more purely Blossom, she could've meant literally as in DNA. But I think that Penelope meant it as in the Blossom spirit... Of incest.

If you think it's a crazy theory, just reflect on episode 3x04. A red-headed bride for Clifford, the heir to the Blossom fortune, was found and guaranteed for him when he was 8. So why would Penelope and Clifford not do the same thing for their heir Jason?

"Well," says the skepticist, "maybe they abolished that tradition." Except that's unlikely. In season 1 when Polly asks Cheryl why her father has so many red-headed wigs, Cheryl says that "the Blossoms live and die by their hair", so I don't think the Blossoms would give up red hair like that.

This also explains why, when Clifford and Penelope present Cheryl as the new heir to the Blossom business, they have Archie, a redhead, by her side. Because apparently the red-headed legacy is just as important as the maple syrup/drug business legacy. "But," argues the skepticist, "Penelope said that she invited Archie because he gave her the Jersey at the funeral." And to the skepticist I say: Have we ever known Clifford and Penelope to do something nice for someone (even returning a favor) without getting something out of it? No.

And, therefore, Cheryl was meant to be Jason's bride. And the Blossoms support twincest.
