(Some notes: The infinite sign shape above is Ouroboros, a snake eating its own tail, historically a symbol of infinity or the cycle of life, death and rebirth. I chose to put it there because the duality of death and rebirth corresponds to Apollo as the god of light but also god of plague. The name “apollo” itself has the meaning of the “destroyer” too. Snake is also an animal related to Apollo in myths.)

Not enough people portray Apollo as a smarty-pants nerd with really nerdy interests (musical theater, performance art, astrophysics, aerospace engineering, academic research, biomedicine, epidemiology) who just so happens to be trapped in a hot body that’s great at sports.

Like here’s this gorgeous jock who’s the star athlete of the archery club but as soon as he opens his mouth, the only thing he wants to talk about is the discovery of a new black hole or that new broadway production that’s being promoted on TikTok.

But noooo tell me again how he’s a dumb blond that’s full of himself and can’t do a single thing right.

I unfortunately don’t understand Spanish, so I haven’t been able to read her Persephone book, but I have enjoyed the translated snippets and comic strips on her blog. It’s very well researched and one of those few retellings that doesn’t demonize Demeter.
