David Foster Wallace

David Foster Wallace (February 21, 1962 – September 12, 2008) was an award-winning American author of novels, essays, and short stories, and a professor at Pomona College in Claremont, California. He was widely known for his 1996 novel Infinite Jest. In 2005, Time magazine included the novel in its list of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to the present.

Los Angeles Times book editor David Ulin called Wallace “one of the most influential and innovative writers of the last 20 years”. Wallace’s unfinished novel, The Pale King, was published in 2011, and in 2012 was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

                                     Shou almost regrets approaching the stranger ; identifying that he’s caused more anxiety than anything. Another instance his curiosity has put him in a troubled situation. Like a hunter himself, cornering the man before him without meaning to. He closes his eyes for a moment, leaning his head back against the display to collect himself. He’s about to excuse himself before the man speaks up once more.

Dark eyes open briefly, staring out at the overcast night sky before finally rolling his head to meet the other’s gaze. ❛ More or less. I doubt you’ve heard of my kind before.. we tend to stay in our parallel world. At least that’s what I’ve been told. ❜ He pushes away from the window before rubbing his palms over his forearms. ❛ It’s easier with vampires.. werewolves.. reapers. I’ve come across them before so I can feel the same aura. But there’s still things I don’t know of but I can sense them. ❜ He shrugs, a small smile on his lips as he nods towards the sidewalk. ❛ Want to take a walk ? ❜

Between lazy sips from his travel mug, he decided to take another moment to reassess the stranger. Nothing about him screamed hunter or appeared remotely out of the ordinary but as an avid reader, both literally and figuratively, Daeho knew better than to judge a book by it’s cover. Though Shou’s physical image was far from ostentatious his first impression via his approach with the vampire was somewhat of the opposite -- leaving very little to be desired with pursuing conversation. He deliberated silently where the scale of difficulty with shaking the other off would tip if he started then and there with the cover of his own closed eyes.

Ultimately, Daeho stayed; he never was the impulsive type anyway. He decides instead to continue to listen observe, map out an escape if and when necessary with the information Shou chooses to bestow. The enlightenment that’s shared, though, throws him. A parallel world? Even to a bloodsucker, it sounded like something out of novels and movies. Still... He was intrigued.

He was no less alert but the invitation to learn more was all too tempting so he followed the other’s lead. “You say I’ve probably never heard of your kind?” He phrased it as both a statement and a question, “Tell me something then,” He paused to take another sip, frowning when he’d come to realize he was nearing the end of his meal. “Would you say your kind is precedent to those with special diets?” He shook his mug, the only indication that he was either simply playing along with what Shou had to say with his crazy or that he truly was what the male initially suspected.
