Showers are where I find peace. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s how the burning water mixes with my warm tears that cover my face in such a way that I can’t tell which is which. Or perhaps it’s the way the droplets of water hit my head as I sit there curled up on the floor that sound like the soothing sound of raindrops. I’m not exactly sure why they have been my peace but either way, the peace of them is nothing like the fear of the world.

How Negative Thinking Changes Your Brain
Anybody who is guilty of constant negative thinking realizes that it has become an inherit habit in their personality. It is an instinct. Those who experience negative thoughts often forget compliments but fixate on rude remarks. Neurologists claim that they have found the scientific reason why stress, depression and negativity are prominent in our contemporary culture and why negative thinking has become a biological marker in many people.

BOOK OF THE DAY:
Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver
“Oliver’s debut novel is raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful….readers will love Samantha best as she hurtles toward an end as brave as it is heartbreaking.” –Publishers Weekly
Vanishing Girls is hauntingly beautiful and heart arresting. Oliver distinguishes herself from other YA authors with her passionate lyrical abilities and addictive prose. Meet Dara and Nick two sisters who are inseparable. After an accident scars Dara’s beautiful complexion, the two sisters become estranged. On her birthday, Dara disappears, leaving Nick with no answers. She soon finds out that her disappearance is linked with nine-yea-old Madeline Snow. Nick must find her sisters before it is too late.
Edgy and nerve wrecking, Vanishing Girls reminds us of our favorite YA book of 2014, We Were Liars. Although Vanishing Girls introduces a set of relatable characters united by real themes of sisterhood, such as jealous and love, Oliver’s writing is compelling and dark. At the end of the book both your head and heart will hurt in a satisfying sense. If you love to stay up until 3AM devouring a book, this is your new pick!
