Just researched a bit on Finnhorse naming, and Saima's name violated the "no languages other than Finnish/Swedish" rule (Apogee is an English term, so it's a no).

But who cares, she's a fictional horse girl and I don't think most Finnhorse diehards would recognize what Uma Musume is lol

And Saima is anything but a traditionalist

A few weeks ago I feel very irritable and not wanting to draw anything. I decided to take a few days off, thinking it's just some artist block...yet things still not change.

Well, I think I really have a creative burnout.

And the current life situation in my uni didn't help too.

Which means that I would probably be off from making personal artwork for the time being.

Historical/technical accuracy or no?

I love researching for my OCs obviously, though I believe that not everything has to be 100% accurate to reality. It's fiction after all.

My Uma Musume OCs (most of them) are deliberately not based on real-life individual racehorses because it gave me more freedom to portray them without being constrained to real statistics or history. (Even Valotar is based on an obscure Finnhorse, not a Thoroughbred)

Though of course creating Uma OCs based on real horses has its advantages and pre-existing info, and there is nothing wrong with it, as long as seeking accuracy and realism is what the creator wanted, not forced by others.

And this is why I like how Cygames has no binding, strict canon nor a linear timeline in Uma Musume, which gave a lot of freedom for fanmade OCs, lmao
