F# PDF Metadata Reader
Here’s a quick script I threw together to read PDF’s from a folder and output a CSV file of specific metadata contained in each file..

Unity3d Shooter Tutorial in F#
I started rebuilding this Unity3d Shooter tutorial with F# instead of C#. I'm almost done and it's been a lot of fun! I have much to learn and would appreciate any feedback. Here's a link to my github repo for the project: https://github.com/ilmaestro/SpaceShooter-FSharp
F# Unity3D Async Workflow
Was inspired by this blog post from Neil Danson and figured out how to get an Async workflow in Unity! This is a game changer.
type AsyncController() = inherit MonoBehaviour()
let startEvt = Event<_>() let updateEvt = Event<_>()
member this.Start() = startEvt.Trigger()
member this.Update() = updateEvt.Trigger(Time.time)
member this.StartAsync() = Async.AwaitEvent startEvt.Publish member this.UpdateAsync() = Async.AwaitEvent updateEvt.Publish
member this.Awake() = let gameflow = async { do! this.StartAsync() Debug.Log("Start complete") let myvalue = "somestring" let rec gameloop somvalue = async { let! time = this.UpdateAsync() Debug.Log(time.ToString()) return! gameloop somvalue } return! gameloop myvalue } gameflow |> Async.StartImmediate |> ignore
Shot of Jupiter tonight with my telescope. Happy birthday Galileo!
We are very excited to announce the first public release of Arcadia, our integration of the Clojure programming language and the Unity 3D game development platform!
Clojure brings the live editing, dynamic typing, and persistent data structures of a modern Lisp to the world of video games….
Year of Learning
2014 marked a year of intense online self-motivated learning for me. I've never felt so compelled in my life to be absorbing so much information both for work as well as general knowledge. My being a jack-of-all-trades type of person, I find myself constantly pursuing anything that perks my interest. These days thats just about everything I encounter. I'm surrounded by new hardware, new programming languages and concepts, and new ways of communicating in every currently conceivable manner. I'm constantly benchmarking my own experiences against what I imagine my parents and grandparents must of have gone through, but cannot begin to fathom what means my daughter will be using to drive her learning 35 years from now. Either way, I plan to continue to let my imagination and curiosity lead my sense of where to go from here... speaking of, I think its time to head over to ElixirSips and continue the night learning more Elixir.
Lots of math, python, and music... I'm in!
Using my telescope and Sony NEX-6 for moon photography.
Some time lapse I did over the summer. Always tricky to get the moon and the clouds together under the right exposure.
Just created a basic SimonSays game in javascript.. next step is Python/RaspberryPi.
After years of making HTTP requests, finally a library that makes sense!
If there's one thing I've learned this year, it's that if something feels painful to think about, it's worth learning more about.
This is a great excuse to get into Clojure!
