“are you always a prick?” the retort was partially meant as a joke, but there was some sincerity in her words as she crossed her arms and waited for him to stop talking. “geez, you sound so elated,” she deadpanned, brushing past him to get a closer look at one of the paintings. despite not being an artist in a conventional sense, inez had a deep appreciation for art, and more specifically its influence in fashion, which was actually a topic she intended to write about for her blog. lately, she’d been frequenting the museum to get a firsthand look at the art and jotting down different ideas the pieces seemed to inspire in the young mutant. “i just need another couple of minutes to look around, i’m almost done with my article,” she explained defensively as she moved onto the next piece. “I won’t take up too much of your precious time.”
“now, inez, why do you ask questions you already know the answer to?” he retorted, giving her the best pretentious smile he could muster. his eyes rolled as she spoke about needing just an extra couple of minutes - it was all things he heard before. “i’ve told you multiple times, you can have a private, after hours, tour anytime you want, but you always turn me down.” roosevelt finally set the article he was holding in his hands down, sending it into a small time portal that he would retrieve it from later. “now, if i let you stay after hours, then I have to let every one who comes in three minutes before we close after hours, and that’s not fair, is it?” he paused, looking at the woman before him. for a moment, he considered being a decent human being - extending the kindness his father had so often denied to him, but just as quick as he had the thought, it was gone. “you can come back tomorrow like everyone else.”
