( JIYUL )
/ ` it’s easy to worry. jiyul has been worrying about things since the day his power manifested. how he’d control it, how it’d look, how his parents would see him. his admission into gumi only included more worries – how he’d be able to keep his powers hidden throughout the games. how he’d fair in a sea of powered students that weren’t crippled by their affliction. or more recently, the fact that his younger brother had been avoiding him. of course, like the dutiful caring brother, jiyul had allotted jiwon however much space he needed (a lot, mind you, a lot and for a very long time).
that being said, now. now, in the aftermath of the race (the very one that he willfully slept through). now, he had to make sure he was okay. / jiwon! / ` calls out as soon as he spots the tuft of hair, suddenly self conscious (fidgeting) with the way his fingers run through his hair. once, twice. and he’s standing in front of him. / hey. / ` jiyul bites back the urge to fuss, concern visible on his face. / are you doing okay? did you get through the race alright? you’re not hurt are you?
( / the aftermath of the race leaves him with an unimaginable ache. it gnaws at his side and while he isn’t surprised, considering the events of the race, he’d done a remarkable job at keeping a level expression about it during his cabin’s trek across the waters. ) ( / it’s only after they’ve arrived on the island that jiwon feels the full brunt of it. ) ( / absentmindedly, he’d over-expended himself during the race and in the end, a part of his side had crumbled into nothing. it’d reformed promptly after, but the pain is still there, powerfully poignant even as he bites his tongue through it. ) ( / he wants nothing more than to retire for the day, and maybe if he’s lucky, he’ll even sleep through the bonfire, entirely undisturbed. ) ( / as soon as he considers his options, he hears a familiar voice call his name. )
( / he should leave. turn around, offer a wave, and then leave. )
hyung. ( / the worried expression on jiyul’s face bleeds into each and every one of his features. his older brother’s always worn his heart on his sleeve and it tugs at jiwon’s own, like it’s asking for him to give in, to play the part of family instead of pushing jiyul away. ) ( / old habits really do die hard. jiwon lapses into as controlled an expression as he can manage. ) i’m fine. ( / he lies, not to keep jiyul in the shadows, but because he isn’t certain if he’s ready to omit that much to his brother. ) i’m just tired. day started too early for me. ( / jiwon offers a minuscule, carefully constructed smile. ) ( / the tenderness of his bones twists into something that almost elicits a grimace. he swallows it back. ) looks like you’re okay. how was it? probably a cinch, huh?
