my activity page is broken probably because I just got followed by a porn blog and tumblr put the adult content ban on me bc of the new rules and I'm NOT giving them my id. so now only the porn blog shows up and all my chat messages are gone

Going into the main tag for a character I like when I hate the guy everybody ships him with
I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
a lot of people are reblogging this saying that most "lazy" people are actually just disabled or that the concept of laziness itself is a product of our society's obsession with productivity. this is all true, but it is not my point.
even if someone WAS just lazy and simply didn't want to do anything but lie on the couch and watch tv, they should still have these things. it's irrelevant whether some people aren't actually lazy because everyone, including hypothetical lazy people, should have their basic needs met.
if we have the resources to do it, there is no defense of letting people die because they don't want to work, and much less because they can't.
I don't want lazy people to have basic necessities because they "actually" deserve them because they ARE working or CAN'T work. I want lazy people to have basic necessities because they are people, and we shouldn't leave them to die when we have the resources not to.

marble statue pfp chuds when the #36548 movie about ancient greece doesn't bother with costume and prop accuracy but now there's like 3 black actors in a cast otherwise fully consisted of pasty anglo actors:
will somebody THINK of the historical accuracy??? 😫😭😫😭😫😭😫
"we cut the nobody scene from the odyssey" "we cut the religious trauma and parental abuse from carrie" i'm starting to think that studios barely funding original films is starting to have an effect where directors make up a story and then slap an IP on it in order to sell. or maybe some bitches just can't read anymore idk it's one or the other

if you ever draw a brown-eyed character with lighter eyes I hope the vegetables you were gonna cook for dinner go bad right before you get to use them
one of my favorite types of content is people who analyse low brow media with the same seriousness with which one generally uses to analyse artsy/prestige media. not cynicism, no mockery, no acting like they're above it, even if they think its bad. everything has themes even when not intended to be there, everything says something about the context in which it was made even if its not trying to, and sometimes the lack of depth betrays a different type of depth in what the media does not realize that its saying much more than the little that its saying on purpose. even if the craft is bad.
ftr I'm not talking about middlebrow media like Star Wars or lowbrow media elevated to cult classic status like Repo! The Genetic Opera and stuff like that. I'm talking about videos with unironic titles that read like "Interrogating the Post-Leninist Implications of Power Rangers Dinoforce" or something that actually deliver it

hey everyone, just curious:
what is everyone's criteria for blocking people?
Not to be snobby/elitist but influencers need to remain in their own separate lane and I’ve never been more serious about that… you are not a real music critic because you review albums on your popular YouTube channel, in the same way I’m not looking at the top Goodreads reviews or going on booktok for genuine literary criticism. I saw some quote recently from an influencer who was interviewing celebrities on a red carpet and she said something along the lines of “fans want to see people like us talking to their favs as if we were their friends!” and it’s like…okay? But I actually want interviews with actual trained reporters, too. Which is not to say there’s no value in some of what influencers are doing…The woman who asks celebs silly, low stakes questions over takeout chicken is a cute addition to any press cycle. But she’s not a reporter, and what she’s doing is not actual journalism. Influencers with huge platforms should feel proud of themselves for building something that clearly resonates with people, but for any of them to claim to be “top of the field,” above people with like, actual education and qualifications and years of experience at their job, is just ludicrous. You are the natural successor to the Buzzfeed listicle. You are not “the only relevant music critic today.” Be so fucking serious.
imo this website is so weird at least partially bc at least half the user base basically sees everything as a joke and takes nothing seriously and then the other half is deadly serious about everything and has no sense of humor whatsoever
