it's so fucked if you think about it how little time it takes to comprehend an image visually compared to the time it takes to make it
obviously the amount of time you're willing to spare on looking at each individual image on the internet varies from person to person but it wouldn't be a reach to assume it takes a couple (a few at most) seconds on average to comprehend an image. and i feel like that knowledge can be somewhat daunting especially if you are already prone to being negative about your own art, thinking stuff like, all this effort for just 2 seconds of someone's attention? but in a roundabout way being aware of this helped me stop stressing over getting images to look perfect, and to let go of the idea that things have to be polished to a certain acceptable degree before they can be posted online. not to say of course that i stopped caring about the quality of my art whatsoever, because i still have certain standards i set for myself, but i've certainly become a lot more permissive with things. and these days if i find myself redrawing one single line 10 times i'm able to catch myself and think who the fuck cares and just leave it as is, because if a drawing is already capable of clearly communicating its meaning (which is what i care about first and foremost) i don't necessarily have to bust my balls to make it look good. busting only one ball can be more than enough
