raymond shook his head. "nah, i'd rather not talk about it. just kind of want to drink my sorrows away and do fuck all till i stop feeling this way. thanks though."
"Hey, you do what you wanna do. I'm not going to tell you how to live you life." He shrugged. "How about I get you another?" Jax motioned to the drink.
"i wasn't judging! not intentionally, i don't get to talk about this kind of stuff to people. i was curious more than anything." libby admitted feeling like her face was on fire from embarrassment. she chewed on the inside of her cheek as she pondered the question. "okay but don't laugh," she said nervously and leaned forward some, "i've wanted to go skinny dipping but i'm both afraid to do it alone and i don't know how well i'd do trying it with another person either."
"So what's the issue with doing it with someone else? You nervous about seeing someone else naked?" He questioned. "Because if that's the reason then I've got a few more questions about just how sheltered you were." He stepped away for a moment to serve someone else before wandering back. "I'll do it with you. If you dare to make the jump. Promise not to look."
"Most people have some kind of romantic inclination early on, right? Butterflies or whatever bullshit. Other than base physical attraction I've never wanted to spend time with anyone." He knew what she was implying, that he ran before he could feel anything but you would have to be at risk of feelings to run from them and he never had been. Not that he remembered. "Think the last time I had a crush on anyone I was Fourteen or something." If he remembered right. Sweaty hands and feeling kinda sick when they looked his way. "Sweetheart if you want to try rebellion you're gonna have to push past that anxiety."
"i guess? i couldn't really tell you either i've only heard of that kind of stuff in movies." libby admitted with a shrug, swirling the drink in her glass around while staring at it. she had seen plenty of movies where that had happened but she'd never actually experienced it herself. "more experience than me, unless you count celebrity crushes but i don't." she chuckled a little but it turned more sheepish at what he said. "i don't think i can push past it so maybe i'm not cut out for the whole rebellion thing."
"You're judging me for not ever being into someone and you haven't even felt it yourself?" Jax questioned, laughter in his voice. "That's a little harsh, cherry bomb." He put the cloth he'd been holding down onto the bar. "Or just need a bad influence." He suggested. "Scrap what I said before. I want you to think of one thing you'd be too scared to do alone."
"yeah i hope, just have some jitters i gotta get out." matrix said and left it at that. she felt like she was always going to be on edge no matter how hard she tried to ignore it, the thoughts were going to be there in the back of her head. "could be both and we'd be none the wiser."
"Which is why it's important we communicate properly as officers." She told her. "Every little detail could be important. I want to be able to look that family in the eye and tell them we did everything we could."
raymond paused, blinking at him a couple of times. "you were flirting with me?" he shook his head quickly then looked at the drink in front of him. "my bad on the easy thing, i guess my minds elsewhere right now."
"And that is why I asked if you were out of practice." Jax shook his head, a look of amusement sparking in his eyes. "You wanna talk about it? It's part of the bartender job description to be a non religious confessional of sorts."

"sure yeah," libby nodded sipping her drink. "question then if i may, have you never had those feelings cause you never stayed with someone long enough to feel them?" she wasn't going to add the alternative which was running when the feelings became more real which to her, he very much gave those vibes but she'd keep those thoughts to herself... for now. she also wasn't one to believe in love at first sight hence the long enough comment. "i guess? i wouldn't even know what place to break into but also the idea of breaking and entering gives me anxiety so maybe not that one."

"that's fair, guess i'm not used to being a cop again." matrix winced at what she said, feeling like it was an unintentional dig or brag about how her life used to be even though she didn't want to go back to that life. "how is that case coming along, any leads?" she asked, nodding a thanks about the other thing as she sipped her coffee.
"Hey I get it. I was out of work for a while too. It'll come back. You just have to rework those old muscles, you know?" It had been hard going back to work after losing her husband but ultimately was what she had to do. "Honestly? Either the Sheriff isn't letting us in on anything or this case is grinding to a stand still real quick."
"out of practice for what?" raymond asked. he was confused why the mood suddenly shifted. he didn't think he said anything wrong? then again most the time he didn't think.
"When someone is flirting with you you're not suppose to call them easy." Jax informed him, a good natured smile on his face now. Hell he knew he wasn't exactly picky but he didn't go with everything on two legs.
"oh, no i recognise you from around the store. i thought you might've needed something from there. what brings you to the station? do you work here?"
"No I was just doing some research. I work for an author and she needed a basis for law enforcement. I was talking to a couple of the officers to get an idea of how they worked." It was only a half truth but one she was practiced at these days. "Are you okay?"
libby smiled at the nosy comment but paused at his next one, finally pulling back with her drink. "touché, that was a rude comment on my part i'm sorry." her social awareness wasn't always the greatest but she was trying to improve that. "you don't need to be in a relationship to have kids with someone but that's not what i'm curious about. there's never been one person you met that you thought you wanted to spend the rest of your life with? even if you weren't technically dating them." she was sipping at her drink slowly now, trying to think of some ideas. "you're going to make fun of me but these are all i can think of," she lifted a hand up using her fingers to count, "spray paint something, tp a house and that's actually all i can think of," she admitted sheepishly.
"No but it helps." He commented on the topic of kids. Jax shook his head at her question though. "No. Never. I've had the hots for people sure but I don't think I've ever felt something even remotely lose to what you're talking about." He supposed to some people it would be odd or strange but he didn't often lie and saw no reason to now. "Ah now I get it. You're being rebellious in the way teenagers are often rebellious. You could always break into somewhere."
libby was standing her ground, well sitting if you wanted to get technical but she had no intentions of pulling away anytime soon. "is it cause you're insecure oooooor? surely you have a good reason to have such a mentality." not her though, she was a romantic person despite not having dated many people in the past and even with the few heartbreaks she's had it's never turned her away from it. "not sure, something legal or mostly legal, i wasn't allowed out much as a kid so i never did anything that could get me in trouble."
"You're a little nosy, aren't you?" He teased light heartedly. "Would you say that to a women who chose not to date?" Jax raised an eyebrow in challenge. "I never saw much point in relationships not when you can get most of it's components just fine without it and I don't plan on kids so..." He had to wonder if she was some kind of journalist and it was just in her nature to pry. "Name three things you'd want to do that could get you in trouble."
"and why's that?" she asked leaning forward as well. libby was asking genuinely cause she never really met someone who didn't 'do' romance. "well i didn't come here looking for that kind of fun, there's other ways and i was hoping to meet someone who would want to cause a little mischief with me. maybe i came to the wrong place then."
They were stood a little too close now for this to be innocent but Jax wasn't the kind to pull away first in a game of chicken. "Because I don't do feelings. Not like that." He had broken more than a few hearts as a result. Had a couple things thrown at him too. "It depends entirely on your definition of mischief. What exactly were you hoping this partner in crime would help you with?"
"hmm let's see," libby grabbed her glass again, taking another sip and swirled her glass around. now it was her turn to look him up and down, "i don't." setting her glass back down but keeping her hand wrapped around it, "now why aren't you the kind to sweep someone off their feet, you seem like you could do that easily."
Jax smirked, propping his elbows onto the bar and leaning forward a little. "Sweeping someone off their feet is a romantic gesture. I don't do romance." He explained. "Besides that's not what people come here for if they're looking for fun." He pointed out, echoing her own words back to her.
she took the drink with her free hand and sipped at it, placing it gently in front of her to rest both of her arms on the bar top. "charming and cocky but not bright and shiny?" libby laughed a little at that. "okay mr charming, prove it, sweep me off my feet."
He chuckled, looking down for a second as he seemed to find a joke in her words she might not have been in on. "Sweetheart, I'm not the type to sweep anyone off their feet." He leaned against the bar from his side, looking her over slowly. "You'll want to fuck me though. If you don't already."
"and what if i was just looking for a little fun, then what?" libby asked as she rested her arm on the bar top, resting her chin in her hand. "they could be but what about yourself, you saying you're not bright and shiny either then?"
"Well then, I can't fault you for that." He set down her drinks in front of her. "Don't let the blond hair fool you, I'm neither of those things. Charming, sure. Damn fine to look at, absolutely. Bright and shiny? No. Never."
