2026 Phantom China international tour update: In between Wuhan and Shanghai will be another stop in Chengdu (though a short one I imagine with only weeks apart)
I’m a bit confused by all these changes in the World tour cast. Is SWM leaving Phantom as well in a week? And then only returning to the role in Shanghai?? If so, who will be playing the Phantom in Wuhan???
My guess is that Samuel won't be leaving at all and will still be principal in Wuhan (and in further stops after Shanghai).

Hi Glass! Thank you for all you do for the Phantom community! I've tried searching your blog, so please let me know if I've somehow missed it, but have you ever reviewed Sam Wyn-Morris' Phantom? I saw that he was in the "adore" section of your favorites list, and I've noticed some really intriguing acting choices from him in gifs which have gotten me really interested in his Phantom. If you haven't already, would you consider reviewing him at some point?
I don't believe so sure, I can do a short one of him!
He's up there because he's clearly a Phantom who has been given a lot of freedom in the role, has put a ton of thought into what to do, and utilized both of that to do some really unique things. That being said, I think you can also tell when he's taken inspiration from others (e.g. him hugging Christine back during the kiss feels very much like Josh Piterman while his holding Christine's hand after was similar to David Thaxton, and I thought he had similar vibes to Ayanga's Phantom as well).
Overall I think he also plays a Phantom who is very easy to sympathize with, which I kind of mentioned in my review of Grace Roberts. Like, he does well enough being commanding and powerful (helped a lot by the fact that he is a head taller than his Christines), but it's the vulnerable moments where he really shines, which I suppose can also be a flaw - if you're looking for a very insane or angry Phantom, he's not really that. It's not that he's completely lacking in those qualities; there are moments where the way he moves or stands are almost predatory and other moments when he is a bit of a weirdo, as all Phantoms should be. Those are also usually the moments where I thought he got a little too dramatic or big with the acting. But it is the sadder moments that are the most memorable and where he's clearly doing a lot of new things, and it's why I enjoyed him so much. Vocals are good too, and he has a habit of pitching his voice quite high, almost falsetto-y, at particular moments ("yearns for heaven" and "dreams of beauty" in 'Stranger Than You Dreamt It', for example).
That being said, if you love a vulnerable Phantom a la Earl Carpenter who's clearly starved for touch, you'll love him! He throws in all kinds of new and interesting things, from revealing his face to Christine in STYDI and flinching away when she recoils, to pulling Christine in for a hug after she's felt his mask in PONR, to his whole entire kiss in 'Final Lair', to that ring return scene, to him holding up the veil to Christine's voice as she leaves in the boat, well... you'll have a lot of fun watching him if that's the kind of Phantom you enjoy! Or a lot of pain, whichever.
Have some more gifs! (Most are with Grace Roberts but the kiss is with Kayleigh Marven.)
I don‘t know if you‘ve seen this but the official site lists the Dutch production as part of the International Tour. So we know which production it will be :)
Oh yeah, people on Discord were talking about it. I think the speculation on there was that it implies the World Tour will be ending so that the production can use their sets. According to this article that won't be happening until spring 2028, so a little ways away!
I THINK JOANNA AMPIL MIGHT HAVE ACCIDENTALLY REVEALED THE RETURN OF PHANTOM TO MANILA... look at phantomtrader19's tumblr and scroll down a bit (sorry for caps)
No you're good!!!! Interesting phrasing... I understand the tour will be in China for the rest of 2026 (including Shanghai for the 40th anniversary). Though nothing has been officially announced after Wuhan...
That said, thank you for bringing this to my attention!!! 🥹

The principal cast for the Phantom of the Opera World Tour's 40th anniversary production in Shanghai sans Christine
Is there going to be a World Tour cast change?
Now? In the near future? Next two months? Either way, no clue. 😅
SO YEAH
So Phantom Shanghai's cast appears to be...
Ramin Karimloo and Samuel Wyn-Morris as The Phantom
(Samuel will play The Phantom in select shows during the Shanghai Farewell Season)
Ralph Watts as Viscount Raoul de Chagny
Raquel Suarez Groen as Carlotta Giudicelli
Thabiso Masemene as Ubaldo Piangi
Melina Kalomas as Madame Giry

NOOOOO GRACE IS LEAVING THE TOUR JUNE 7
I saw :( and a bunch of cast members sent feelers too. Looks like a major cast change is indeed taking place.
Grace Roberts leaves the World Tour
After 2 years on the road, it's time to say goodbye to Christine. My last performance will be 7 June 2026.
No words could ever be enough, so I'll just finish by saying a huge thank you to all the wonderful people who welcomed me to the role with open arms and guided me along this journey.
Christine, I love you. I can't wait to carry everything you've taught me into the future and see what it holds.
P.S: Swipe for the first time Baby Grace-stine sang 'Think of Me' with the orchestra before our first performance in Shenzhen in 2024.
