Character animation

During the process of this animation I got to finish the main part of my animation all that was also planed was to loop the animation to fit with the music track the Hustle.

The outcome of this was not met as I had planned However I did get to demonstrate the hustle being animated to a good standard, once textured and lighting animated the model will look good for a client, it's suits the audience by showing principles of the 12 principles of animation, such as exaggeration, squash and stretch and slow in and slow out.

While I know I could have completed my goals on time for the deadline I did not get to plan out for such circumstances. I met the client criteria by working with an indepth pre production document with research and reference backed up with good anatomy drawings and figures to demonstrate my understanding of joints in the human movement.

Animal evaluation

I think I did several things very well during this project and overall I and very happy with what I have learnt during the unit and what I feel I can now accomplish, starting with my thoughts on the final outcome I will need to state that the idea and audience did change to suit my needs for the time constraints and skill and ability. The project can still be used I a professional sense and I was able to make all the choices quickly when reacting to problems within development which is a great benefit to an employer.

Starting off my oniginal idea was to create an animation with a griffin running and flying out around the scene, this would have been my first attempt at a complex animation and was too over ambitious with my skill set and the time I will need to create the outcome that I wish to produce. I then decided to cut back on my plan and use a predone rig called 'Nico' which would be a good compromise that was similar to a griffin but had no wings, it worked well and I got to animate what I wanted, I had todo a lot of research that I have backed up in my research. However I ran into a problem where the file would no longer open on any systems I used, I tried to use a backup file however it still would not open so I had to make a quick decision to change my idea and audience to suit me scope that I can do within the time scale, and that was to use a new rig of a leopard and put him on ice, I gave him a walk animation that had some detail to show I can produce a cycle then I gave it the comedic value of shuffling on the floor of ice with gaining speed that is both funny to watch and can be used in several environments including a cloud setting where a leopard could crews through the sky's.

Dev log 1/1/18 unit character animation

Starting the new year well with some work on my character animation, I have been able to finish around 50% of my character to be ready for dancing the hustle, I did run into a few problems however with the rig I was using and that I could not fine one that worked in a simple fluid way that was also a female to fit the concepts that I drew up, so at this point my idea has not changed but I will need to find a new rig to suit my needs. And the rig I have chosen is a male scout rig from the game Team fortress 2, I chose this rig for 3 main reasons which are, the rig model, this is clean easy to see, simple textures and high quality enough to add the emphasis on character I need to meet the goals of my brief. Another reason is that it is a well known model that will appeal to a wider audience if animated correctly, and he lady is that it is free to use under the developers say so.

Progress report griffin modelling change

I’m going to need to rethink how I will be generating my griffin model, it’s taking much longer than anticipated to build the mesh and I’ve been sudgeted by my tutor that it may take 2 whole eeeks to rig the model aswell. Unfortunately while I have organised some time for this in my profuction schedule I do not think it would be a good choice to continue with this msnual route, the brief is not grading my on my modelling or rigging skill, only on the animation itself, so I think I’m going to make a strict deadline if I cannot create the model by the Friday coming up I will need to drop this part of my plan and instead find a free rig that I can use that is as closest to my idea.

Update on Friday, I was just about to finish the model today but looking more into the rigging methods, I feel it will be too much of a stretch to use that time for rigging if I am not being graded on it. So I’m going to be looking for s new rig, my eyes are currently in s rig called nico, it fits the body type I am looking for but it does not have wings, I cannot seem to find any rig that also has wings, to get the effect I want I will need to create it manually. However this rig and many feline rigs seem to be detailed enough to do the section I want and still give me the option to add detail to the scene. As a contingency plan I will use a leopard rig that I have found because I know it has fewer joints and polygons incase I run into performance problems with this rig.

Fixed the problem with deleting the history, have been able to get the frames into the scene by using a reference

Update on plus animation unit, another problem with deleting the history, I have accidentally deleted the history of my rig and now separated the joints from the mesh so I will need to start over once more.

Working on unit 3 today here I am creating the windows for the Dutch scene and also organising the scene with layers and groups, this will make it easier at later points to export and texture bake to save on render times and add as much detail as needed later on.

Timothy Walter Burton is one of the biggest names in the stop motion industry, hes been around for some time, he has created some wonderful pieces of work that many enjoy even today. Born 1958, August 25th, in Burbank California, Burton age 13 created many stop motion movies just in his spare time, one of which ; The island of Doctor Agor, an adaptation of the classic H.G.wells story ‘‘The island of doctor Moreau’‘

This was a 1896 science fiction novel, ‘‘an exercise in youthful blasphemy’‘ quote by the author .H.G.Wells. The story is about a shipwrecked man on the island of Moreau, only much later from after depicting the many acts having to be made to survive on the isl, finally to be saved by a passing ship.

Tim Burton studied at Burbank highschool, interviewers show that Burton was a introspective person, he mostly enjoyed painting drawing and watching old movies, his biggest influences were Dr seus and Roald Dahl, you can see this from his work with Seus’s narrative writing style to give greater tension, and Dhals highly imaginative imagery, very visible in his drawings. After graduating, Burton attended the California institute of the Arts. Studying character animation, he had created the short stories.

Working on a chair for my museum

Here I am working in the studio with Aron to create a good music background loop for the fmp, just a simple guitar pick will do.

Today I am working on the leg of the cyborg character, I am quickly creating a base joint for the character so it would match up easily with the 2d version and so it can be quickly rigged and animated if need be, the skeletal structure will be made first then I will add the playing for the shape, then the details will be added.
